I've been here many times over the years and can't believe I've never reviewed the Orpheum! It's a beautiful, old-school venue for plays, concerts, and other events. Recently saw Mama Mia and we were high up but there's really not a bad seat in the house. The sound quality was excellent. There are a lot of stairs but also elevators and lots of staff to help direct you to your seat. The seats are small with not much leg room but that's to be expected. In the heart of downtown, there are several parking garages and metered stalls nearby though right now in Spring 2026, there is construction and street closures all over the place. I'd get there early and maybe plan to walk a few blocks. Love this venue though for it's beauty and the feeling you're seeing something special. read more

In the past year I have found a new affinity of mine: going to ballets at the Orpheum. The first one I saw was Alice In Wonderland, and I more recently saw the Nutcracker. I fully intend to go to more ballets and upcoming events here, as I had a great experience, as did my family. The ticket prices are less than expected for a ballet, and when seated on the floor you can see the stage very clearly. The second time I went we were on the balcony, albeit near the back, and I much prefer being seated on the floor. The theatre itself is beautiful; the architecture and inner design is gorgeous to look at, take pictures in, and marvel at before the show as well as during intermission. The bathrooms are accessible and there are drinks and small refreshments available. It isn't a huge selection so don't come on an empty stomach, but they are nice to nibble on throughout the show. I have not had the best experience with the mixed drinks, and they tend to be overly strong, which is not my preference whatsoever. It can be overwhelming and my last drink I could not finish and ended up tossing. Overall, I would highly recommend supporting our local arts and taking an outing to go see a ballet here. It is such a fun girly activity, and can be done decently affordable. Take the opportunity to get dressed up, take pics before the ballet, and enjoy a great show here! read more

The Orpheum has been around for ages and is definitely an Omaha institution. I feel it definitely is a little stuffy in terms of the seating, types of shows they get, and overall vibe. But if you're looking for a classic stage play or traveling Broadway show, it's basically the place to see any and all of those. I have seen Les Mis, Phantom, Alton Brown (twice), Hamilton, Jerry Seinfeld, and Wicked - so there are a few more modern shows to see, but they are definitely on the smaller side vs. the classics. The seats in the normal areas (not talking about the boxes or the Orchestra seating) are very stiff and almost like stadium seating at a baseball game. The aisles of seats are also very close together so if you are a long legged person - watch out. I don't even have long legs and I left Wicked with literal bruises on my knees from them pressing into the seat in front of me the whole show. Now, I know it sounds like I basically am a hater of the Orpheum, but that's not true at all. It definitely has its drawbacks, but the perks of having this venue in Omaha are not beyond me. If you stumble upon a show you'd like to see at The Orpheum, definitely still go - just be prepared for a semi-uncomfortable evening. The performance you see may just make up for that though if you love it! read more

As this theater houses several showings of a variety of entertainment, I was happy to see how well maintained this place is. There are a lot of people that see those walls and carpet, however they well look very well maintained. Security was also very quick, making sure to check bags in an efficient manner. Parking has been a little slim due to the large amount of construction within the area. read more

We love the Orpheum so much. Absolute treasure for top flight performances. It has an old world opulence that must be experienced, one that'll make you feel like you walked in with the turn of the century on one side and a crisp martini on the other. It's that lived in kind of elegant. Old money. And the shows, my goodness the shows. What the Orpheum does with Broadway (thanks O-PA!) will blow your mind and stir your soul. We've seen so many great ones here - Hamilton and Hadestown, Funny Girl and Fiddler - each as first rate as the last. And concerts too! One of our most treasured memories is the night here when we saw Jackson Browne. We've even seen our son perform on the stage, a moment we'll all remember with pride and joy. If you want to see a live performance, this place is excellent! Stylish in the old school way, classy and inviting, it serves the purpose well. Parking is a bit of a dance, but if you like the act you're to see, you'll hike. Seating is great. Hard to get a bad seat. Pricing has been, so far, reasonable. They advertise by email, so it's convenient to me. No need to even hit the website. Draws me in. It even smells good. The cocktails and wines are merely adequate. The Orpheum Theatre is a beautiful historic building. It is a lovely place to see a play, musical, concert, or other kind of performance; and Omaha Performing Arts presents a good variety of these things. Since it is an older building, there are several issues that can be somewhat problematic. Parking can be awkward as there are different lots with different prices - I can walk here so I don't have any advice. The entrance was not designed with today's security measures in mind so that can involve some time waiting outside. I know they have made efforts for accessibility but I don't know for sure. Bathroom facilities in general are probably not as plentiful as they are in newer buildings. They do sell snacks and drinks now, and cup holders have been installed. The biggest issue here in my opinion is that some of the seating is VERY cramped. On our recent visit we sat in the loge. I'm 5'9" and 180 pounds and I tell you, my knees were almost touching the seat in front of me. I was glad there was an empty seat next to me so I had some extra space for my arms anyway. I know that not all the seating there is this restrictive but this was definitely what I would call comfortable. read more

A lovely vaudevillian legacy venue for shows. Originally built in the late 1890s and renovated and expanded in the 1920s to the three level auditorium that exist today. Given the facilities configuration might be a little tough for folks with longer legs so select seating carefully if needed! Limited street parking and multiple parking garages in immediate area are available for facility access. Bars and snack stands are available throughout the theater as are restroom facilities. Elevators can accommodate anyone that may need help navigating the multiple stairs to get to the upper levels. Located within blocks of the old market and multiple bars and restaurants makes for a great evening with a dinner and a show. The building interiors are truly vintage. I got tickets from StubHub that showed a picture of a clear view of the stage but I sat in the left loge row B on the outside and couldn't see a damn thing because of the lighting structure. This was my first time going to the Orpheum. It was amazing and horrible at the same time. I bought tickets 2 months in advance to The Lion King for our 21st wedding anniversary. The day of the show comes and I realize five hours before that we missed the actual day and I am crushed. It was my mistake. I thought it was on Thursday, when it actually happened on Tuesday. I called the box office and reached Josh the box office manager, I am practically in tears, but he tells me the only thing you can do is to give us half price of best available tickets that night. I say OK and thank you bye-bye. By this time I feel awful and we end up just staying home. Fast forward a couple weeks later we decide to stop at the box office after church. We go in and talk to a very nice man who ends up being Josh! He not only got us amazing tickets, but also went the extra mile to give me info just in case it happens again. It was my fault and he went above and beyond when to make our night special. We were fifth row from the front. The tickets were better than the original ones we bought. We got end row seats that some of the cast had given up. It was such a great show and despite the drama we had a great time. I just want to send a big thank you to Josh at the box office. I have been a season ticket holder at the Orpheum ever since I moved to Omaha in 2017, and I have not regretted it one bit. Even though I moved to Denver this past year, I kept my season tickets and just travel back to Omaha whenever there is a show. As a musical theater lover, I have been to many theaters all over the U.S., and there really aren't many that come close to beating the Orpheum. The architecture inside is stunning, and it is located close to the very charming Old Market. This makes it easy for us to grab dinner or drinks nearby before a show. Parking can be difficult, yet it is still so much easier and cheaper than in larger cities like Denver. The shows themselves are also much cheaper than in other cities, making shows much more accessible to all. They also provide student rush tickets for college students. There is much more than just musicals that show at this theater - I've been to concerts, comedy shows, and plays here as well. The Orpheum will always hold a special place in my heart, and I have a hard time letting it go even though I've moved away! read more

Came to see the Tori Amos concert and was very impressed by the theater, the sound quality was great, and the decor was BEAUTIFUL. I wish I got more pictures of everything because it is a gorgeous place, and they definitely spent a lot of money getting in that way. We have season tickets to the Broadway series. The atmosphere is great, the shows are excellent, and the staff are friendly. Security screening and entrance are efficient. The ticket office staff are great. We have "good" seats...it is worth paying a bit more to be comfortable and closer. I have also attended a concert (Tori Amos) and stand-up comedian. Beautiful venue to see Broadway shows in Omaha. We've been going here for years and have gotten season tickets in several sections over the years - main floor and up high. Even the nosebleed seats up high offer a good view and sound quality. My only complaint is that if you are up high when the show is over they block off half of the stairs for the handful of people coming upstairs to get to the the skywalk for parking. So everyone on the top two levels are waiting in a long queue to get down the steps while the other 1/2 of the steps are empty except for one or two people. But if you try and use that side the ushers will stop you. Really poor traffic flow design to favor those whose purchased the more expensive seats on the lower level and penalize those in the cheaper seats in the higher level. read more

Have been coming to the Orpheum for many years. Just went to see Anastasia last night and it was amazing! Every show I've gone to, the staff is so incredibly kind and helpful. You'll never get lost there's staff everywhere to help you find your seat. The building is historical and an experience in itself. If you haven't had the chance to visit the Orpheum, it's a must for Omaha! Parking isn't bad because there are garages within the block you can park at. Just keep in mind everyone is leaving at the same time and may be a bit of a wait! There is street parking, but it's a two hour limit. Bathrooms are very clean and well kept! This theater is beautiful. I've been here as a child but seeing it as a adult I was able to appreciate this vintage building for what it is. I definitely plan on coming to more events here. Especially knowing the layout now. I would say live a little and spend the extra money and sit in the front row of whatever section you may be in. I guess that's anywhere you go but this being an older building, I would say go for it! Plus I'm short and trying to look over heads fir a hour or more is a little annoying. So there's that that. I was seated in the Loge area which I actually enjoyed. I went to see Pattie Labelle with my mom and we really went ourselves. I plan on going to see the lion king and I'm sitting I the front. Saw Hadestown here. The staff doing the bag checks were a bit brusque but maybe that's just relative to the overall Midwest nice in Omaha. The theater is fairly large and seems to have good acoustics; the aesthetics are also nice. Restroom break during intermission was an adventure. The Orpheum is a visually and extravagantly beautiful theater. I've been here many times over the last seven years and this time around was to see Hamilton. I was not impressed with the show itself but the acting was very very good and the singers had beautiful voices. Hamilton wasn't something I cared for in relation to the way former presidents and founding fathers were portrayed. For me the highlight of the show was the appearance of King George and the scenes he performed. Not a show I recommend unless you're into hip hop and rap music displaying former presidents being portrayed with an African-American spin. The five stars are for the extravagant beauty of the theater itself and the excellent acting and singing by the actors themselves for this show. read more

I've been to several shows and events at the Orpheum over 10 years or more and I hate this venue. They need to tear down the building or at least gut it and rebuild the whole thing. The accoustics are terrible, Several shows I go to and cannot understand or hear what is being said. They seats are tiny and extremely uncomfortable. I do not know how this place survives??? The Holland is amazing, I love the Community Playhouse, CHI Center is fine, why do we keep having shows in this mediocre venue? The added security of late when entering makes it an even more unpleasant experience. The operators of this venue clearly only care about making money and do not give a hoot about the customer experience. And the junk food garbage crap they sell for snacks is seriously unnecessary. read more

Here's the thing I'm giving the Orpheum two Stars just because of the good shows they bring in. But the seating is ridiculously uncomfortable. I can pretty much say that as of this last trip - I will no longer attend shows at the Orpheum until they update their seats. I am a larger man so I know what I am going into when I buy a seat but for the second time I bought a seat which did not have any seats in front of it - my thinking was that I could at least stretch out my legs - both times, this was so inaccurate that I wondered if my seat had been changed. This last time, not only was it that I had to deal with fitting in a seat too small for most with little to no leg room in front of me, but the Orpheum in their attempt to make things more 'convenient' for people - put drink holders in those seats in front of people - limiting even more the leg room provided. The seats are antiquated, uncomfortable and well past needing to be redone. read more

Went to see To kill a Mockingbird on Saturday February my seat was in Galley Section row Q seat 101 . I think it's a shame after paying $79 for a ticket and getting a seat where I can barely see because some big fat head guy sitting two rows in front of my seat and I couldn't hear a thing either . A truly beautiful theater, full of history and grandeur. The variety of performances is marvelous, too. We happen to be here for am opera, but I've also been here for plays and music. They have comedians in this venue, too. Really a must-see in Omaha. Be sure to allow some time to enjoy the ceilings in the various parts of the building -- surprisingly beautiful works of art by themselves. And upstairs near the elevators are seats on display, examples of seat and upholstery designs throughout the history of the theater. read more

Stomp opened in Omaha tonight, a concept I was somewhat familiar with and I kept an open mind, knowing I would either enjoy or be disappointed after the performance. I will respond by saying if you have ever taken a dance class or participated in a group performance, you have to appreciate the synchronization of group members and their fitness levels even though some aspects of the skits could have been improved i.e. tiny light skit that I didn't understand the complexity or lack of. Overall, I would grade the entertainment value a B grade. The Orpheum still continues to have issues with small bathrooms and unfriendly volunteers at the doors to the seating areas. Outside parking ettitique was horrible, many people who did not respect traffic lights, pedestrians who have the right of way, and those who fail to have adequate skills to back out of parking lots. It was more challenging this time vs other performances to tolerate those who think they have more rights than following traffic laws or being courteous. This performance attracted drivers who aren't used to dealing with Orpheum traffic tonight. Of course, Omaha PD was no where to be seen. read more

During the 2019/2020 season I have come to the Orpheum for Hamilton, Les Miserables, A Bronx Tale and will be seeing The Lion King in a few months. First things first, parking. I have never had issues with parking and we typically arrive just before the shows start. For Hamilton we were able to find street parking about a block away. For the others, we parked in the garage across the street. I love the convenience of the garage and the sky link bridge for cold months. For busy shows you will wait a while to get out of the garage at the end of the show, but that's just part of parking in garages. The inside of the theater is absolutely beautiful. The theater employees are so wonderful. They are friendly and super helpful. They will ask to help you before you ask to be helped. There are booster seats available for the kids so that's a plus. The snacks are overpriced, but that's to be expected in a theater. We typically sit pretty high up in the balcony or gallery and while you can't make out people's faces, you can see the entire stage. For A Bronx Tale we sat on the lowest row of the grand tier and the view was spectacular. I love coming to the Orpheum and can't wait to see what they have scheduled for next season! read more
