I went in here last week needing a ombré redo. I was set up with a sweet Stylist name Katie who I showed her a couple of pictures on pintest what/how light I would like my blonde part to be. Mind you, hair stylist needs to be real with there clients and realize that lighting in pictures can be very misleading specially working with Asian hair. ( My hair was already Ash blonde ) What I wanted was a more golden/ warm tone blonde instead of this ash color I wanted more of a rooty look I was hoping to go for. She was very polite but her consultation skills was lacking. After I snowed her a couple of pictures all she said was, oh yeah ok nodded her head and told me she brb to mix the product, She did not made any suggestions or her personal opinion which I wasn't use too. About almost 2 hours into hair siting under a dryer I should have been done, but I was there about 3 hours! We were walking to the shampoo bowl area and that took about 20 mins then when comes the hair drying... I can feel by her hand movement though out my hair she seem shaky... I looked at my hair it was horrible. Absolutely not a professional ombré especially you can see in my right side of the headline where her brush did not completely saturated the hair with lighter leaving me a very harsh line. This stylist knew she messed up didn't offer to fix it but rather having me to come back to reschedule, seriously? I was extremely upset and didn't want to embarrass her in front of other clients so I decided to call instead and asked for a salon manager. I believe her name was Angie, she went out of her way knowing she has a tight schedule, listened to my concerns and what I wanted. She invited me to come back so The Stylist can re fix it I even asked her if she can please supervise her while she's doing my hair, I was willing to give her a second chance because I know mistakes happen etc When I got there, The manager Angie ended fixing my hair instead while Katie was doing a different client. In my opinion if I was the manager I would have Katie re-fix my hair took over the other client she was working on & take me as a learning experience instead I felt a little neglected as a client and shows no confidence. I LOVE this salon! I am from Ann Arbor, but since I go to Grand Valley, I come here when I am up at school. I have had a few different stylists and they are all wonderful. They are friendly and very good at cutting hair! And plus, you can't beat the price: it is right around $15 for a haircut... perfect for a college student's budget! The last time I went here I received a haircut as well as full highlights. My highlights were only $53, which is pretty darn good based on other salons. She did a fantastic job, too! While it is best to make an appointment to avoid waiting, they do take walk-ins. This place can get pretty busy, so I would take the time to call ahead. So, if you are a cheap-ass like me and don't like spending a lot of money on you hair, this is the place for you! :) read more

I normally don't make reviews but this just pissed me off. I had made an appointment 2 days ago, Wednesday, to get my hair done which included hair cut and color with extensions. I called today, Friday, to pay for the extensions that she has to order before my appointment and the stylist so kindly tells me that because she didn't hear anything that she had to cancel my appointment. Did I get a notice at all about canceling it due to not hearing anything back in 2 days? NOPE! She just canceled it and gave it to someone else! I won't even give this salon a chance! I went from dark red to "blonde" and I know that's difficult, but since I go to GVSU I didn't want to make a trip home to see my regular stylist, but now I wish I did. It took three visits to get my hair to be a dark blonde, and it's ombré, which I didn't want, I told her I wanted dark roots but I didn't mean half of my head brown, $350 later I'm still not blonde and I'm going back to my stylist at home read more

I really needed my haircut as it had been worn up all summer from work. I asked for a few inches off and long layers to be added back into my thin hair. I left the salon with my hair wet and the layers looking and feeling fine. Upon arrival home after classes and meetings I see that my hair was completely butchered. The layers were cut straight across leaving completely inappropriate spacing between the layers. I expressed to the stylist before my cut that I hate when hairstyles do that and it is exactly what I got. I have another appointment with a different salon to correct the horribleness, unfortunately meaning more length will need to be cut off. Horribly outcome. read more

I get so many compliments on my hair every time I go to this salon that I had to share it with every one. I got my first color from Stephaine she did such a great job I had to step back and make sure that It was really me l was seeing. The second time I went back I could not get Stephaine she was booked , I had to go to another one of there stylist Holly she did a awesome job on my cut and took the time to make sure that I new how to style my new look. After reading Chelsea's review, I decided to go make an appointment her for my highlights. This salon is right next to my apartment, so it was really convenient. I'd read other reviews that said the place can get pretty busy, so I went the day before to make an appointment. The woman behind the desk didn't take my name, or any contact information. I was just told what time to come the following day. Ok then. Fast forward to the next day. Now there's a different girl behind the counter who just glared at me when I walked in the door. Maybe she was annoyed because I'd clearly interrupted her conversation with her friend. After telling her I had an appointment, she decides then to take my name and contact information, because apparently it matters now. Lucky me, she's my stylist as well. She starts doing my highlights, but I was a little upset that she just finger combed my hair and didn't actually brush it out to make sure there were no snarls. I have curly hair, and it can get tangled just from walking outside. After the foil was in, she moved me over to the dryer and said I'd be there for about a half hour. According to my phone it was more like 40 minutes before she came back to get me. Then she started washing my hair. Now, I know you're supposed to massage the scalp to make sure you're working the product through and rinsing correctly, but you do that with your fingertips, not your nails! She raked through my scalp and I swear it was a miracle I wasn't bleeding! I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but man that hurt! Not to mention the water was frigid. Now we move back to the original chair so she can dry my hair. She had the dryer on the hottest setting, and placed it right at the roots and just held it in place, scalding my skin that had already been raked to hell. Then it's time for the haircut. I told her I just wanted a healthy trim, and that was it. I told her no layers because again, with me having curly hair, layers just makes it go crazy. I got the trim I wanted, but she still have me the layers I didn't want. She also decided to go ahead and give me a face frame, without even asking if I wanted one! I do a lot of bending for my job, and now some of the hairs in the front are too short to fit into my ponytail. It's not the end of the world, but definitely an annoyance. I walked out of there $82 poorer, not including the little tip I left. A full head of highlights may have been $53 back in 2008, but they definitely aren't now! Even with a haircut my total should not have exceeded $70. I don't know if I got scammed, or if they really changed their prices. You can't really tell because they don't advertise their prices for anything. Only thing I can think is she charged me extra for "styling" my hair by blow drying it straight. Let me be clear that I did not ask for it to be straight, she decided to do that on her own and I should not have been charged for it. The highlights do look good, I'll give her that. But I'm not sure I'll ever return. read more

Sha is amazing, I highly recommend her. In fact now that I was lucky enough to find her, I wont see anybody else. She works wonders with blonde hair!
