Salmon roses, octopus sushi, salmon sushi and tuna sushi. Those salmon roses are deceivingly large. Awesome!

If you're considering going to Fusion Sushi in Ranchlands, what are you waiting for. We've been there 5 or 6 times and it's always been great. It's all you can eat and they have a great selection of dishes; not just sushi. The menu is slightly limited at lunch. No sashimi and fewer special rolls. Paying the extra money for dinner is well worth it in my opinion. Normally you'd think lower quality or small cuts of fish, but Fusion is as good as any sushi I've had in Calgary. Highly recommended.

Food and Service were amazing. Bonus GF menu and loved the online ordering thru the iPad. Would recommend

Super fresh fish... but order lots to start because you'll never see your waiter/waitress again.

Meh. The concept is good: all you can eat...basically you sit at a table and fill out a paper form when you want more food for the table. The waitstaff rush by and grab the paper and then bring the food. The cost is set; there is a 90-min cap to the "all you can eat." However, what really happens is you wait outside for a very long time because for some reason the restaurant is really popular. Once seated you write down what you want and the ticket gets picked up. The first round of food is fairly quick. There is nothing really unique on the menu; it's rather generic. We struggled to find the "Thai" aspect; maybe their definition of Thai is different from ours. It's really a sushi/Japanese place. The achieved stars are for the freshness of the fish. The sashimi was butter soft. The rice dishes were meh and anything with chicken/beef was drowned in super sweet sauce... also meh and kinda gross. Portions are really tiny and this is where the hitch in the process begins. After the first round of food, it is nearly impossible to get anyone's attention: for water, beer, pickup of a new order sheet, the bill, etc. We sat for 45-minutes after the first round of food and got plenty of "be there in a second" call outs but no actual attention. After the second round of food we could get no one's attention. The people at the table next to us said, "don't even try." They had exceeded the 90-minute cap and barely ate any food; they had a "$29 piece of sushi" on the table because they'd mis-understood the ordering process. We had difficulty getting someone's attention for the bill once our 90-minute limit had passed. I guess the catch is you need to order TONS and TONS of food on the first round with the expectation that the servers will never come back. BLANKET ORDER EVERYTHING. The thing that pissed me off the most is that the entire meal cost $66 for two people and we barely ate any food; it's a complete rip off. I've eaten in other sushi places around Crowfoot where the quality of food is better, the quantities don't leave you hungry, and the price is reasonable. Honestly, I can't fathom why this place is so popular. I miss the restaurant that used to be there: Aioli. And, to add insult to injury, the new restaurant moved in without changing the decor -- so it basically looks like Aioli (motivational statements and all)... but with crappy service/food. We won't be back.

We are visiting Calgary/Banff and decided to look for an all you can eat sushi spot. We live in Miami and NY (and have lived in Los Angels) which has wonderful sushi places with all you can eat options. So, we can be picky. When I looked at the reviews for the area, I was very discouraged. Most were in orange. Finally, we decided to go with Fusion Sushi Ranchland because out of all it had the best reviews but still much lower than we'd normally consider. But, we were wonderfully surprised. Let me say that this place is under appreciated. We have actually eaten here 3 times in the past 10 days. The selection is large and varied and the quality is very good for AYCE. Granted, it's hard to compare AYCE to a traditional sushi restaurant as you usually lose a little quality but this place really holds its own. Highlights: sushi tempura is outstanding, hand rolls - they toast the paper in the traditional way, sushi rice is often served warm, the roll selection was diverse and the presentation was very well done. On top of all that, the location is clean, service attentive and parking was free and plenty. I highly recommend this restaurant!

My favourite Fusion Sushi location so far (I have also tried out the Mcknight and downtown locations). I have been here twice for all-you-can-eat dinner on weekdays. I have to say the food first time was very good and way better than the second time. For both times, there is a good selection of sushi and cooked items. Salmon sashimi is usually fresh. Tuna sashimi had a very bland taste the second time and did not taste fresh. Beef short ribs and tempura are pretty delicious. Mango pudding and green tea ice-cream are great to finish off the meal.

Poor execution of the sushi, too much cucumber in everything, lacks the authenticity of a Japanese restaurant.

Restaurant wasn't terribly busy - probably because it was Super Bowl Sunday!!! Seated promptly - there are only four seats for the omakaze experience. You have a view of all the preparation of the food - sat right in front of the charcoal grill which emanated heat through the glass. The starts of the experience - the Hokkaido scallop and the chicken ass (only available on the omakaze experience and cannot be ordered in the regular dining room now). Never felt rushed, unlimited sides. Only thing that could be improved is difficulty hearing the server and chef over the background music and restaurant noise. Also some of the background music didn't seem to suit the environment (pretty sure I heard some Dr Dre!!)

Shokunin had a fun vibe upon entering. The staff were friendly and knew the menu. I thought food was a bit underwhelming. Nigiri were decent - some tasted better than others. Yakitori took a long time to make and were salty. Kale salad was the most disappointing bc I was told that it's refreshing and a fan favorite. The dressing was creamy and heavy, and the kale were whole bunches and not chopped up for ease of eating. Cocktail was also very mid and I had no desire to order a second one.

The interior of the restaurant has seen better days and they will be undergoing a major renovation from September 21st to 2025. The owner, Jay, was pleasant and attentive. He brought us a plate of complimentary spring rolls with sweet chili sauce. They were piping hot and super crunchy! Our family ordered three personal hot pots to warm us up on a cool autumn afternoon: spicy miso soup with lamb; Tom Yum soup with seafood; kimchi soup with beef. Our soups arrived in a timely fashion on top of individual burners (this was my first time seeing pink gel used as fuel) and they were intensely flavourful. My lamb was tender and the fish cakes, crab sticks, tofu, enoki/brown mushrooms, suey choy, and konjac vermicelli were deliciously satisfying and comforting. As usual, the boys and I had a taste of all three soup bases, and we decided that we liked them all! Just one thing of note: the soup tends to thicken halfway through your meal, so you might need to add a bit of hot water. We will certainly be back!

The flavour was intense and satisfying. Service was prompt and efficient. Interior is about to undergo renovation and it could use a lift; it feels a little dated. Downstairs is where you can see the chefs prep the sushi and sashimi. Order at the till and then you will receive a buzzer (to pick up your food when it is ready). You can grab the sushi from the lower level (basement). My better half has some very specific dietary restrictions and they were able to answer my questions, staff was polite and did notify us if any foods might be cross contaminated. The atmosphere is casual but could also be a nice place for a date. They had the patio open today which is where we sat. We ordered the sushi lovers tray $20 for 20 pieces (4 sashimi and 16 pieces of sushi). My kids don't eat spicy food so the chef was able to make our sushi tray to order (with the spicy sauces on the side), which was lovely. The chef asked about our dietary restrictions when I asked for the spice to be served on the side. Also, we ordered the spicy chicken ramen (TIP: if you are sharing with a non-spicy eater, you can order it with the spice paste on the side, which is what we ended up doing). Kids love the broth here, and it is chicken based. Some ramen places will have chicken ramen but then it will be prepared in a pork based broth, which doesn't work for us. We ordered two of the salmon sushi lovers trays, one chicken ramen, one chicken yakatori and one bbq chicken rice bowl. There is a good amount of variety on the menu, whether you are looking for a meal or more of a snack item. They do have chicken, lamb, beef, tofu, and pork on the menu along with vegetarian options.
