Sizzling pork sisig
Jessica S.

While advertised as an "Asian" bistro, they serve mostly Filipino food and are owned by Filipinos as well. We came off an especially long day of hiking and were on a mission to grub and did we sample quite a few dishes! In typical Filipino fashion, all plates are meant to be shared. We ordered 2 apps - glazed pork ribs (12.99 CAD) and pork gyoza (6.49 CAD) -- and 2 dishes -- Pork Adobo (17.99 CAD) Rice Bowl and Sizzling Pork Sisig (18.99 CAD). The Pork Adobo was a surprise favorite. A little sweet and sticky with some texture and crunch from the scallions and bell peppers. Adobo can have many different renditions and that certainly was the case here! We engorged every last bite and although the price was a bit high, the food was spectacular and service just as so. Very recommended!

We came here for an early dinner around 4:30PM and got seated right away for a party of six. Their parking lot is located around the back of the restaurant. We ordered pork sisig (minced pork with onion, chili peppers, lemon/calamansi) and it was served with an egg and white rice. It was delicious but has a kick of spice if you aren't used to it. The sinigang (pork soup seasoned with tamarind) we ordered 2x but easily could have been split between two people because the serving size was so generous. It was so flavorful and had just the right amount of vegetables:meat ratio. The longsilog (sweet pork sausage, eggs and garlic fried rice) was pretty decent - the sausages were kind of over cooked and had that crumbly texture, not as juicy as we hoped it would be. But the garlic fried rice was soooo good. The lechon kawali was more of an appetizer rather than a meal like you'd expect at a typical Filipino restaurant, and it was kind of dry and it was served with this diluted chili sauce on the side. For dessert we got turon (jackfruit & banana wrapped in spring roll) with ice cream. It was really good and had a great amount of filling. We also tried their fruit tea with boba and (not pictured) avocado smoothie with boba - both were delicious and refreshing with our meal. Service wise, it was good. We got checked up on frequently and got our waters refilled a couple of times. When we left, we forgot our takeout leftovers and called them and to our surprise they actually didn't throw away our food and had it waiting for us when we came back ~15 minutes later. Overall, we would come back and try their other Asian food they have on the menu. Good service, portions and tasty food!

We came in for dinner last minute and this place didn't disappoint. It has variety of different Asian dishes from different regions for example Korean, Thai etc. They say they have some dishes online but only seasonal. Wish they stated that online before you arrive. Menu can change up to chefs choice. Over all 4/5

What does a warm hug feel like? This place! Lovely staff, delicious bowls of flavors, and very charming indoors. Finished our meal with halo halo and it brought it all together!

Very friendly people! We sat at the patio since we had our little fur baby with us. They were able to accommodate our big group (8 adults & 2 kids). It is next to a fairly busy road and a gas station but it wasn't terrible. It didn't really kill the vibe since it was gorgeous out and they had patio umbrellas for shade. They serve lots of classic Filipino dishes. Even the breakfast The food tasted pretty good and we ordered a good variety: Crispy Pata, chicken Teppanyaki, Sizzling Sisig, Sinigang and Tapsilog. The Sisig was a bit spicy which didn't say it on the menu (or at least I didn't notice). It tasted good, but I usually avoid spicy. Perks of getting old *reflux*. The rice tasted fresh. The crispy pata (deep-fried pork thigh) was crispy and good. They have some combos like Takoyaki (octopus in batter) w/ Milk Tea and Turon (caramelized banana pastry roll) & Milk Tea. The Takoyaki for me felt a bit undercooked. It was a bit gooey inside. The Milk Bubble tea was ok, not sweet. They also have Mango Shake, which was not sweet. It tasted like they just used fresh ripe mango, no additional sugar. Overall, worth dining in, especially if you crave some Filipino dishes. We would go there again whenever we're back in Canmore.

Delicious Asian food and good size portions. The beef and chicken are halal. Ginger beef was my favorite. Great option for anyone visiting Banff.

Such a happy and peaceful environment, the food was absolutely delectable, plated with such care for detail, and the service beyond amicable. Would come here again 1000/10!

Quick and friendly service. The filipino food is great as well! Hits the spot especially with the cold weather in Canmore. :)

We were on our honeymoon and ended up dining at Juniper three separate times during our trip. That alone should say something. The food quality, consistency, and service were exceptional every single visit. Our server, Hera, delivered service that genuinely surpassed what we've experienced at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants. Attentive without hovering, warm, knowledgeable, and effortlessly professional, she made each meal feel special and memorable. On a honeymoon, that level of care matters, and she nailed it. The food deserves its own spotlight. The Eggs Benedict is the best we've ever had. Perfectly executed, balanced, rich without being heavy, and clearly made with intention. The Churro French Toast is unforgettable: indulgent, crisp, soft, and expertly seasoned. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, not just "good for a hotel restaurant," but genuinely outstanding by any standard. We regularly dine at Michelin-recognized restaurants, and while Juniper Bistro is not Michelin-listed, the food quality here was better than many Michelin meals we've had. That's not hyperbole, it's an honest comparison.

May 12, 2026. Everything about the Maple leaf was…read moreoutstanding! My wife enjoyed a nice sparkling Prosecco to kick off the evening with our nice-sized Prince Edward Island oysters. We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA
