However, there was a ton of live plants and truckloads of fresh vegetables for sale. Couple that with gourmet cheeses and baked and canned goods and you have a situation you could spend a lot of money on. As a snack, we bought a jalapeño cheese roll which was very good. You could definitely do some wallet damage here. I'd like to see this place on a weekend. My one criticism are the produce prices. $3.99/lb for slicing tomatoes and $12 for a watermelon. Other produce is equally expensive. This is rather boujee pricing and it's obvious they aren't targeting the average consumer. I love supporting local farmers but prices like this make it difficult. Come and check it out for yourself. It really is a sight to see and you could spend a whole morning or afternoon here. But guard your wallet. It would be easy to get carried away here.

There were so many stands, including: produce, bread, juices, seafood, lamb, knife sharpening, honey, candles, pottery, flowers, and a ton more. I ate Pastels de Yuca at a stand called Soul Cocina. It was roasted yuca stuffed with lentils, brown rice, and spinach. It came with a very flavorful red salsa. I loved it. The yucav was tender and the filling was delicious. I loved the salsa because it was refreshing with a slight kick of spice. I also enjoyed sitting under a tree at the park while watching the Bee Day Parade. That's definitely my tip because there's not a lot is seating to eat at the market. So go across the street to Durham Central Park for plenty of shaded seating.

I hope that it will be successful and that they will continue to develop this market by adding additional vendors. Most of the time, you will only find maybe 4-5 stands selling local produce, and maybe a booth or two of various other local artisans and sellers. The produce is always great, I just hope we start to see a wider variety of options. It would be great to see some organic options as well. The prices have always been excellent when I have visited. Check out the market April through November on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays! Hopefully, you will find what you are looking for.
