Really positive experience with FutonLand. So first off, they had the couch I wanted which no one else had. I've searched, I googled, I called shady places in shady parts... no one had it except futonland. Salesperson was courteous and legitimate. Couch arrived two weeks ahead of schedule. Delivery guys, arrived exactly on time when they said they would. They treated my home, as if it were their home. Okay, let me be honest, they treated my home better than I treat my Home. KC and Frank literally spent the time navigating the tight corners without touching the fresh paint. They cared and for that I am thankful. All about the money!! I recently made a order with Futonland. I ordered one of their unique looking sofas (hence 2 stars not just the 1) and was very excited about the it! However, due to specific delivery instructions I had to make the order over the phone. 1 Day after ordering, my mom informed me that she purchased a sofa for me as a gift so I decided to cancel the Futonland order. The payment was not yet posted to my account and I was informed by Meghan of Futonland quite uncaringly that I will be charged a 20% cancelation fee. This was wayless than 48 hours after ordering. The sofa was $1554 I was charged excess of $300 to cancel!!!!!!. Beware of their "cancellation and return policies".... If you're NOT made of money, be mindful that . I asked for insurance on the furniture that I purchased. They said they insured my furniture and months later when I asked to make a claim they told me I didn't insure my furniture. Update: They contacted me and are replacing the arm and also coming to my apartment to do it for me. It is a fair price, so I appreciate how they handled this situation. read more

Worst experience ever dealing with a company. My order was rescheduled multiple times (6) where each time I was told to stay home for 4-6 hours. I bought a bed and a futon. Futon was an average price ($200 for mattress and frame). Bed/box spring was an amazing price ($209 for a full-sized bed mattress and box spring). However there are a few things to watch for: 1) they charge an extra $60 for delivery to your apartment door (as opposed to "drop off" which is to your curb). They weren't dishonest about it, but it did seem odd. Not a problem for me though because I live on the first floor. 2) items in the ad may not be in the showroom and I got the impression that they might just lie about it and show you a different one while pretending that it is the one that will be delivered to your house. 3) items don't necessarily match the ad (futon mattress was black in the ad and white in real life) 4) There is a bit of upselling going on from the salesman, but not too aggressive All and all, I would recommend it for people seeking inexpensive furniture who can deal with needing to pay attention (as opposed to IKEA). read more

We went to Futonland and my husband actually took his shoes off and tried out all of the futons providing entertainment for the store. He is pretty choosy about what mattress he sleeps on. Me not so much, but I am more picky about cleanliness. No bed bugs which I was terrified of! We had to get a new futon because my back is spasmed the one we have now is too small though we were told it was a Queen. The place is now out of business. All of the other futon stores that I am familair with in Manhattan closed. The last futon store sold us one that was supposed to be Queen sized and we measured it and it was not. It was some kind of weird in between size that was not a Queen. Futonland delivered the futon on time. Our building is one of those pain in the rear buildings. We can only have deliveries from 9-5, week days and need a permission slip like we are living in a dorm. I told the store manager Stan about what a pain it is and that they can't come after hours they will not be let in. It might seem like a small thing to those who might read this but I also told other stores doing deliveries the same thing and they got turned away because they did not listen to instructions. NYC seems like it is being taken over by chain stores. I like that it is not a chain store and still has some personal NYC edge to it. Futonland was ethical, had good customer service, high quality futons, and on time delivery. They also assembled it for us. This was just what we needed in a futon. My criteria for 5 stars is the best or only of it's kind. So I am awarding 5 stars after having been all over Manhattan looking for a decent futon and not able to find one until we went to Futonland. read more

Try to avoid it if you can! I bought furniture from this store allured by the good prices. One of the bed I bought felt broke after one month. I sent them the pictures hoping the staff would share my sense of urgency as my elderly grandparents were visiting. The sells representative Michelle did not provide a timeframe. She repeated that once they had the piece they will give me a call... So when exactly? - when we get the piece - was her answer. Two days now into the problem and still no bed, so we are sleeping on the floor. Hope to hear back from them, if not the department of consumer affairs will receive my complaint. I am always wary about going into stores, but my experience at Futonland was absolutely amazing! From the second we walked in, we were greeted by Francisco who was patient, and kind and knowledgeable. We fell in love with a sofa but since we live in a studio, we didn't know if it would fit. Francisco didn't pressure us like a lot of sales people have - he let us to our thing and answered all our questions and then some. When we came back a week later to fulfill our order it was seamless. When my couch and mattress were delivered the guys who came to assemble it went above and beyond. They were kind and helpful and knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this place enough. There is a reason they have an A+ on BBB. read more

SO AMAZING! Go with Futonland in spite of its dubious choice of brand name. I was moving from SF to NYC and looking for the cheapest, highest quality mattress set possible to have delivered for the day that I moved into my new place. I didn't have time or transit to pick up furniture myself, and I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to find somewhere that could accommodate my needs at the last-second (I didn't think of this predicament until the Monday before the Thursday that I moved). Futonland was the only mattress store in the UWS that showed a $ price sign on Yelp. Initially I was skeptical, but the guys were so great at customer service. Then I almost stumbled upon the absolute worst customer service experience possible when the first guy on the phone-- sweet as he was-- charged my credit card for the on-sale mattress/box spring set I'd ordered, even though it turned out they didn't actually have any more in their inventory. His superior realized immediately, called me on his own initiative, and offered to replace the missing mattress with one of higher-or-equal quality without any additional charge. So, then I ended up getting the box spring I'd intended and a mattress that was worth $50 more than the one I'd first paid for. Granted, customer service hassles like that can't happen to every customer, but it's really a relief when a hassle ends up making you feel lucky that it happened to you. Now I refer anyone who needs a mattress to them. Delivery was only $40, and since my building has an elevator, they brought the set all the way into my bedroom. read more

Got a good futon with two pillows and I scheduled it for a week later. You can get the white glove service for 70-80 I think. They call you the day before to let you know when they wll deliver. We purchased a futon from the Amsterdam location. The salesman was a good guy. Arrange "white glove delivery" at a cost of $129.00 to our apartment. The delivery was scheduled for October 12th. We received a call that the delivery had arrived so I went down to the street to meet the "white glove" delivery guy. Lo and behold here comes a guy literally dragging the box on the street and sidewalk a block from his parking spot. No dolly. No hand truck. The box had gouges and other markings of a box that had been through the ringer. The uncouth delivery guy and his assistant then proceeded to unpack and install the unit in place. It looked fine once finished, so we signed the mandatory signoff indicating it was delivered in good order. Away went the two "white service" delivery team - - neither of whom could speak intelligible English. That's when the trouble began. My wife noticed the Futon had an implausible tilt on one side so we started inspecting that side of the futon to see what was up. We began to feel around the base and noticed a leg supporting that side of the mattress. Upon inspecting it, the leg literally fell off the base of the futon, crumbling in our hands. The cheaply made leg (a cheap wood replacement) had been broken in transit, probably when the two "white service) crew dragged it through the streets of our home area without the benefit of a hand truck or dolly. Upon closer inspection we found that the "white glove" duo had not attached the back part of the futon to the base with a series of bolts designed to do so. Needless to say, we were on the phone to "customer service." We decided to return the futon to Futonland since not only did they manufacture junk, but their delivery team was incompetent. Futonland's response? Since we signed off on the delivery of the futon, we would have to pay a "restocking fee" of 20%, as well as pay to have the broken futon retrieved by their fee (another $109.00), DESPITE THE PROBLEM EMANATING FROM FUTONLAND'S delivery of a broken pice of furniture AND the delivery team not having attached the back of the futon to the base with a set of bolts. We end up paying around $450.00 on a $1,642.91 purchase to get their lack of quality issue resolved. But it didn't end there. They never credited our credit card with the original purchase price less the $450.00 or so they charged us for the return! It took months of submitting a dispute with our credit card company to finally get a credit for the money due us! Bottom line, do NOT do business with Futonland! read more

So, I didn't actually buy anything from futonland, and that's why I'm leaving a glowing review. I called them up, I wanted a futon cover to fit over both my futon mattress, plus a foam mattress topper. The guy on the phone said that they could do that, but that I wouldn't be happy with it. He said I probably wouldn't be able to fold up the futon, and it really wouldn't look that good. All this despite the fact that he was super up-front about the covers being non-refundable. Shopping for furniture is such a drag. You want what you want, at the price you want it, and you want it NOW. If you're like me, you're nervous about getting a good price because you haven't really shopped for "grown-up" furniture before. (Is a futon grown-up? Hmm). Well, I saw that Futonland had good reviews, and after 3 positive interactions with them over the past few weeks, I'd like to chime in. My boyfriend came with me to scout out the place on a Saturday afternoon. We made the trek up from Brooklyn to the store, which is rather small, but packed full of floor samples, so you can sit on tons of futons and couches to your heart's content. The place was full of customers, so it took a few minutes for the workers to talk with us, but they kept coming over and promising they'd be with us in a second. Both of the men working there were friendly and knowledgeable and didn't pressure me to buy anything. They answered all of my questions patiently, some more than once, and we were there for a good hour or so. Ultimately, I decided not to buy anything, because it was juuuuust out of my price range. We scoured Manhattan and nothing was in my price range. And then later that week, I found that there was a Yelp deal (GO YELP!) for free delivery and assembly. So obviously, I went back and ordered the love seat I wanted. It was still a little expensive, but at least I knew it wasn't more expensive than anywhere else. The delivery was set for 5 days later, and the manager at the store was very understanding of my work schedule and made sure that it'd be delivered later in the day. They called me the day before to verify delivery, and then called again when they were outside my house with the truck. The two men who set up the futon weren't particularly friendly, but I didn't mind, since they just wanted to get the job done. They were fast, too - 20 minutes to load the pieces up to the third floor and then put it together. I love my futon!!!! read more

I am a very happy customer! I visited this store on Monday and was warmly greeted by the staff. I shop with the environment in mind, and was very happy that the gentlemen assisting me were knowledgeable about their products and could discuss different options. After a little more research online about their products - they have a very good website - I called them on Tuesday and placed my order. I ordered a full size all cotton futon and we arranged for it to be delivered on Thursday. But, when I went to West Elm to order the bed frame, I was distressed because they only had queen beds available - everything was on back order and I needed a bed this week! I called Futonland back and asked if I could change my full futon to a queen size. They processed this request without a problem and emailed my confirmation immediately. Today the delivery window was between 2 and 6. The futon arrived promptly at 4pm. Great service and prices. Thank you guys! read more

Update: My futon frame cracked on both ends after 30 days of having it. I slept o it alone and I am about 115 lbs. at first they stated that they would replace the parts free, but I would have to pay the labor cost of something like $35. I was upset. I think Francisco helped me through it. They ended up fixing it free of charge. Also, the mattress has been sinking in. I have to sleep on different ends to kind of help even it out. It doesn't spring back, it's has permanent imprints, it seems. However, it is VERY comfortable to sleep on for a futon!!! I am still satisfied with this purchase, overall! read more

The reviews about this store looked good so I decided to trek uptown to take a look. Ben was on duty and he was great... from answering my initial phone inquiry to helping find a suitable sofa. He was courteous, helpful, gave me realistic answers, and provided excellent service. Ben was prompt with answering my email and kept me informed of the delivery schedule. I placed the order for the Twist sofa on Saturday morning and received delivery on Wed morning. The price is good and they delivered as promised, so I am very pleased. We wanted to order a Night and Day Sagebrush Murphy Cabinet Bed. Online, it was on sale at a very good price, but their delivery policies for NY say they will not deliver to buildings with time restrictions or those that require a certificate of insurance (COI) - my co-op requires both. I contacted their UWS store and spoke with Nas. He was able to order to bed at the same on-line price and could provide "white glove delivery" with time restrictions and COI in addition to assembly and placement in our unit for $139. The bed was ordered over the phone with a credit card, We immediately got an email receipt with instructions for submitting the time/COI requirements by email to Futonland. Delivery was scheduled within a week. The completed COI forms were sent 24 hours prior as requested (we received an email copy) and were informed the evening before of the 3 hour delivery time window and received a call 10 mins prior to delivery. Everything in the process including the delivery people) were quick, professional and done well. We cannot say how pleased we were with the service we got and the final product. Lots of guests and a tiny apartment means we needed to upgrade our little ugly loveseat to a futon or sofabed. After some research on prices, we decided to go with a futon. We knew we wanted one that would not make our living room look like a dorm room, but at this point, we lost our focus. On separate occasions, both Ben and Irena were very helpful with recommendations based on our needs, and patient with our laborious cover fabric selection process. I ordered two bookshelves (not cheap, incidentally). They were both heavily damaged upon arrival; and the delivery people spoke to someone on the phone (since it was after Futonland's office hours and I could not reach anyone) and said I had to accept the shipment but I'd get a refund or discount. I then received a phone call the next day from a representative at the company stating that nobody said anything about a refund or discount and that they knew it was damaged ahead of time (!!!!!) but wanted to get it delivered to me anyway to meet the delivery date. The phone call went rapidly downhill from there with the guy, astoundingly, accusing me of giving him a hard time - he also tried accusing me of changing the delivery date twice which I only did as a correction to the three times they tried to give me delivery dates or times I specifically did not want! Very disappointed in the customer service. I sent emails that they didn't respond to about a price match guarantee bc I found the same bed cheaper on another website. They just never responded despite several follow ups. Finally talked to a customer service representative, who was rude, and they sent me a cancellation form as I wanted to cancel my purchase. I even got no response when I submitted the cancellation form. I am a very laid back and easy going person. I've never been so disappointed in customer service. They then picked up the one they left at my place and I used for a week to hand off to someone else who probably knows nothing about me using it. This company has a shipping scam going on. My order was just cancelled because i refused to pay an additional 75.00 shipping fee after I had already paid in full for the furniture. Company said something about me living in a remote shipping area whom Fed Ex and UPS don't normally deliver to. That was a lie because i live in a city. I had furniture delivered by both of these companies and get regular shipments from Amazon, Overstock, Wayfair...etc. I will never do business with this company again. read more

I called to inquire about the availability of an item for in-store pickup and the representative was extremely helpful in getting me the best product for what I needed, and even waived the in-store pickup fee since the product was already on location. Unfortunately I needed to cancel my order due to changing circumstances and they were very understanding and helpful with that too. They charge a 20% restocking fee but I was happy to pay it since the cancellation/ return was my issue and they were so great throughout the process. read more

Would have gotten 5th star if: plastic it was wrapped in wasn't so dirty (clean the trucks) and the directions did not specify the direction of the slats (if the bigger or smaller hole should be 'up' or 'down' while assembling.....although we figured it out. Pix on-line also did not show that all three sections of back adjusted separately. No biggy but seems important to fully describe product. Bought a Futon when they first opened - 15-20 years ago - Itwas thicker than the usual futon because ithad foam in the middle, it was fairly inexpensive. The only downside was it was hard to find sheets wide enough. Now it's time to buy a new one. read more

Furniture is not bad, and the salesperson is quite nice. But the experience was terrible!!! They delivered some of my furniture and forgot some pieces, even though I had mentioned how important it was that I get everything on a specific date as I had guests coming. They threw the garbage in the lauded room and I was fined by the building. They did not deliver my mattresses until the next day. Nothing was as they had promised. When I brought this up to the manager "Eddie", he was extremely rude, and told me I was lying, despite several pieces of evidence of what happened. He kept swearing and yelling. I don't know why this place has gotten so many raving reviews. But I trusted those reviews and went for this store. A few weeks ago I went in person to see their beds - but they only carry 2 beds in the actual store. So the guy was like "all the beds you see online are of similar quality." Considering they are from a million different manufacturers I was a little skeptical but on-board. Online they say in big letters that they PRICE MATCH. Their bed was double the price of SEVERAL online companies, but I liked the idea that there was a physical store that was going to guarantee the product AND that for $60 they would deliver and set it up. But after they had me send links to other prices they were like - nope sorry we won't match any of the prices that you found... WTF?! How is that a price match? I still kinda liked the idea of going through them, since my credit card price matched anyway.... but dude became all attitudey and nasty. I called another one of their locations to see if I could talk to someone elsel and the guy was SUPER helpful and it turned out not a single Futonland even carried that bed anymore! The guy at the UWS store didn't even know that that bed was discontinued!! (PS I wound up buying that same bed from an online store for waaaaaaaayyyyy cheaper than the guy at Futonland was selling it, and that online store was SUPER helpful. The Futonland guy said the bed was really difficult to build - which was NOT true. It took me and my boyfriend maybe a half an hour to 45mins combined to build it AND when one of the parts had a little chip on it, the online store, homeclick.com, offered to either have a replacement part shipped at no cost or give me a partial refund on the already crazy low price.) I discovered Futonland online after searching for weeks for a bedroom set. Futonland offers a lot of the same bedroom sets that other sites offer; however their prices were much better. I initially spoke with Michelle throughout the whole ordering process. Michelle, in general, was kind and patient, and it was nice to speak with the same person. I didn't want a box spring w/ my bed setup and Michelle confirmed that the bed didnt need one. However, when the bedset arrived, the delivery men indicated that I needed a box spring, an additional investment. Rather than returning the whole setup, I followed-up w/ Michelle to get an idea of how much a box spring would cost. She offered me a small discount, so I had to think on it. When I called back, I spoke with her manager Ed, a very kind, understanding and professional man, and he offered me a 50% discount on the bed, and a quick delivery the next morning. Overall, it's my understanding that Michelle confirmed w/ the manufacturer on the boxspring, so I can't really blame her for that. I do feel like she could have been a bit more apologetic. My bedset and mattress arrived in less than 1 week after order. The delivery men were very professional, quick and experienced in furniture setup, and Ed truly understands good customer service. The bed set and mattress were very good quality. Not like that cheap Ikea particle board stuff. I would recommend Futonland. read more

I hadn't set foot in their store so I was kinda nervous about making a purchase. I'd chatted with Michelle a few times in their website and she was great. I don't know anything about futon furniture and had tons of questions. Michelle's the best. She was very patient, kind and informative. I'd placed my order for a futon couch, chair and coffee table. A few days later, my items were delivered. The delivery men were quick!! Assembled everything to perfection in a matter of minutes, and didn't leave a scrap of trash behind. My furniture is very sturdy and beautiful. I'm very happy with my purchase. The delivery men, like Michelle, were very courteous and professional.
