I am another victim of Future Eagles Aviation. I was so excited when I purchased the Groupon for the flight for a Xmas present for someone close to me. I spent months calling and calling trying to contact Future Eagles Aviation and leaving messages and never heard back. I had to contact Groupon and get a refund to my credit card. I should have come to Yelp sooner and I would have seen that I wasn't the only person having trouble with this company. It does look like this company is a scam. Beware of this company! read more

I just got my $99 refunded by Groupon -- not a problem. Seems like reports of FEA's unresponsiveness have been coming in. I don't know if it's a scam or just a poorly run business. Duped. I wish I had read these reviews before spending so much time making phone calls and writing emails that never got answered. After about a half a dozen calls I finally got someone on the phone and scheduled a flight. A few days before the flight I received an email that it was cancelled for summer camp. Shouldn't they have known in advance if a summer camp was scheduled. I just want to say that this is in fact a legit business. I can't attest to any communication problems as I didn't attempt to call or email before booking my flight/class time. However, it was very simple to schedule an appointment via the website. There was only one date available, so I can see how that could be a problem for people with expiring Groupons who can't make the one available date. So far as I can tell, the whole business consists of just this one guy and his personal plane. He probably doesn't answer emails or phone calls because he is always flying. He says there is an average of about 30 people in the classes, and ours was a bit larger, so it looks like plenty of people are able to book their Groupons without a problem Now for the actual experience. For the ground school, it turned out to be basically whatever he felt like talking about. The website says that it would cover what makes a plane fly, how pilots navigate, cockpit controls/instruments, how an airport works, what it takes to be a pilot, and more. This sounds like a very organized and thorough class. However, there is no structure whatsoever to the class. He did have a lot of time for questions, and since he does have extensive flight experience, he really knows what he's talking about. But there were no handouts or paperwork and no logical flow to the topics he was discussing. He covered how airports work and what it takes to be a pilot and somewhat touched on how pilots navigate. He said nothing about what makes a plane fly, but he did spend a fair amount of time on the current state of the piloting industry and the expected future of piloting jobs. The cockpit controls were explained by his 17-year-old friend as he sat in the plane pointing to the instruments. If you weren't standing right next to him, you had no idea what he was talking about or what he was pointing to. He was quite knowledgeable and knows his stuff, but again, no organization to the explanation. He also had everyone take turns sitting in the plane to look at all the controls and allowed ample time for people to ask questions about the different parts of the plane. The flights are scheduled in groups of two. One person has the controls for half the flying time, you land, switch seats, and the second person has the controls for the second half of the flying time. This is how you get one hour of flying time and 30 minutes of you at the controls as stipulated in the Groupon description. There is not much of a method to the teaching aspect here either. If you take more initiative, you will do more with the controls. He doesn't outright have you do much other than turn a little bit. There is not much encourgement or instruction while flying unless you ask questions. All in all, I would say it was a decent enough experience, and the flying was pretty cool. If you're looking to see if flying is something that might interest you, then this class is worth the Groupon price for someone to answer any questions you have and to get some flying time. If you're serious about learning to fly, I would look elsewhere. read more

I had the same problem as the people before. I received the groupon gift and scheduled a day for my class, then the day before I received an e-mail apologizing but they would need to cancel and they would send me a follow up e-mail the next week to reschedule. The e-mail never came so I called them as well and left a message on their answering machine and they never called back. I called groupon today and they are refunding the money. read more

This company seems to never call you back no matter how many messages you leave or how polite you are on the messages. The poor customer service is pretty shocking. However, a friend of mine did complete the package and had a great time, but admitted that it was very poorly run and organized. read more

Add 3 more victims to that list; I bought one coupon for a lesson as a gift and so did some friends. Future Eagles Aviation would not return calls or answer emails. Yesterday I was in the Livermore area on business and stopped by the airport to talk to them in person. Well guess what their address appears to be an empty field next to the airport. Talked to another aviation business and was told there is no Future Eagles Aviation and that other people have been looking for them. I also talked to the airport people and was told the same. It was also suggested that we file a "scam report" with the Livermore Police Department. I also called all four phone numbers on their website and not only did I get no answer, but the San Diego number is not a working number, no surprise. Called Groupon and they too have not been able to get a reply from Future Eagles Aviation and have had complaints; they were very nice about it and gave me a full refund without a problem. read more

I am pretty sure this business is a SCAM, but I"d welcome information to the contrary. I was given a Groupon coupon by my wife for an introductory flight school at Christmas on which were instructions to log in and choose a weekend for the class and flight. I chose a slot a couple of months out with the understanding that I would be given exact info a few days ahead on where to report and what to bring. The email I received three days before the class was a (misspelled) note saying they had to cancel and they would contact me about rescheduling. I got on their website and chose another weekend--now we're at the end of April. Again, a few days before the big day, they had to "appologize" [sic] for cancelling, and so I again booked a date after waiting a week and not hearing from them. I chose June 8-9, and wouldn't you know it: the email comes on June 6th saying that they had to cancel but would contact me the first part of the week about rescheduling. Today, after no communication from them, I called the number from the certificate (nobody there) and dropped by the given address which is on the backside of the Livermore airport (an empty field). I stopped by and spoke to a pleasant receptionist for another aviation company, and she mentioned that she's had a number of people inquiring about the whereabouts of the Groupon flight school, and she presumed it was some sort of scam. We'll be contacting Groupon about getting our money back. read more
