Apparently take-out Chinese food is not all created equal. We all have our usual take-out spots that we order Chinese from, where they know our address and card info just from what pops up on the caller id. I had gotten so used to my usual, that when trying out my boyfriend's family's usual Chinese take-out place, Future, I was shocked. Shocked and surprised enough to write a review. First of all, I ordered what I usually pick at my local Chinese take out; moo shoo pork--delicious pork stir fry with mushrooms, eggs and sprouts that comes with sweet Hoisin sauce and pancakes, like Chinese fajitas. Stuff the pork goodness in tortilla like pancakes and some sauce and boom. Well, this time I had an extra BOOM. It was much more delicious than I remember. Maybe it is because the ingredients at Future seem more whole and recognizable or that Future doubles as a Mexican restaurant and the pancakes were thicker more like home made tortillas. What ever it was, it was more delicious than my local. The portion was also much larger; not only the insides but also the pancakes. At my usual you get 4 pancakes and have to pay extra for more. But ordering from Future, we were gifted with 8 fat hot delicious tortillas, stretching the meal. The boneless spare ribs were also a step above my usual. They were moist and tender rather than the dry chewy nibblets I am used to. These had substance, flavor and flexibility. They were meat you can chew--saucy and sweet. On top of that, the pork fried rice is like a mixture of Mexican yellow rice and your run of the mill Chinese food store fried rice. The veggies and extras are visible and the rice is perfectly cooked. And the dumplings! They were also a step above--aromatic, not too doughy and meaty. The only let down I could think of was that our delivery order did not come with fortune cookies. That's ok though, more room for food. Deffo ordering Chinese from Future again. Also looking forward to trying the Mexican dishes in the future. read more

We used to order from this place a lot - I'm talking a few times a week. It's dirt cheap and really tasty. Not the most authentic, but it hits its own unique spot. And I was almost going to give this place 5 stars just for that. ...But the last time I ordered the Green Beans w/ Pork (my once favorite dish), I tasted something grainy on my beans. Taking a closer look, I realized to my horror that there were specs of dirt on more than one piece. Needless to say, I haven't had an urge to order Future's since. What a shame. read more

Not authentic, but tasty, cheap and fast, also much less oily than other Chinese delivery in the hood. I've never been to the establishment - - I've only ordered from there, but what I like about Future is the consistency. When I order, I know I'll get quality take-out. Favorite dishes included fried wonton (10 pieces, always crispy, never soggy), bean curd with black bean sauce (just salty enough) and sesame chicken (ratio of chicken to batter is better than most places). Taco King cheap and yummy! Definitely hits the spot it you want a quick and inexpensive meal. Delivery fast and friendly. I can personally recommend the black bean and cheese quesadillas. Also try the pico di gallo quesadillas however this should be paired with something else it contains a lot of garlic and onion, needs a little diluting. read more

I've never actually been here, but their delivery is on point! Always knocking at our door before the estimated delivery time and the food is always hot and delicious. I always get the sesame chicken lunch special. Well worth the price and tastes great - whether it's right after they deliver or heated up the next day! Honestly, I like this place and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The portions are huge and the prices are right, which is obviously the signature of any place like this. Delivery has always been quick, and if you pick up instead, the guys are nice. My favorite part about this business is, surprisingly, the flour tortillas they use. Not sure from where they source or if they are made in-house, but they are always warm and chewy. They serve their moo shu with them as well so you can get your tortilla fix even if you don't order off the Taco King menu. Salsa is basically just tomato water but if you're expecting something more, you might want to look elsewhere. Guac isn't bad at all. The aforementioned moo shu was flavorful - there was a great ratio of cabbage, veg, and meat - and it fed me for three days. I tend to order the Mexican more than the Chinese but both are serviceable enough if you're craving cheap hybrid faux-ethnic cuisine. read more

I only tried the Mexican food, so the review does not cover their Chinese food. However, after this experience, I'll be avoiding this place. The only positive is that the food came really fast. Under 20 minutes. But you quickly realize why. The food tastes like it was made in a microwave. I ordered nachos and enchiladas. I'll start with the nachos...a lot of stale chips with a crap load of bad cheese all concentrated on one side. half the plate was a brick of cheese, and the other side was loose chips. The meat and veggies were randomly thrown on top. I had a few bites and threw it out. The chorizo tasted awful. The enchiladas were no better. First of all, what kind of enchiladas have no enchilada sauce? The tortilla was really thick and flour rather than corn. Inside the meat was decent, but you could TOTALLY tell it's made in a Chinese restaurant. Didn't taste Mexican at all. And the whole dish was covered in that nasty cheese. Needless to say, I didn't finish that either. Do yourself a favor and get your Mexican food elsewhere. read more

Fantastic for take out! Steamed Shui Mai with shrimp is ridiculous. They use too much sauce and oil on the lunch specials. I just drain it out, because the shrimp they use are large and very good. Also fresh veggies, they don't skimp. Wontons in the soup homemade - very tasty. Reliable, affordable and delicious. read more

This is my go-to for americanized chinese food. I usually get chicken wings with pork fried rice, and their wings are solid. Their general tso's is probably too sweet and not spicy enough for my taste. Their egg roll is ok. Food also comes with the usual fortune cookie. Have not tried much of anything else.They are also pretty good and getting the food to you pretty fast. Usually they are there at around the 30 minute mark. They have almost never let me down when it comes to being on time. Have never been to the actual restaurant. read more

Alright guys, this is no Michelin star restaurant, and it is not authentic. But you knew that already right? This is chinese Tex-Mex like Yummy Taco etc. Mexican Chinese fusion if you want to get fancy. The Shrimp taco was good - crunchy and fresh. The Steak and Chicken Quesadilla was made exactly as I wanted. The cheese was properly melted, the steak and chicken was plentiful. The tortilla was well grilled. A great Chinese delivery option in Jersey City! I couldn't believe how fast everything came! Food was really cheap. I like to order enough food to make it worth the while of the delivery people and it was still so cheap I thought they must have added it up wrong. The food quality is not sacrificed for the price though. The fried dumplings could have been done a hair longer. However, the dumplings were not greasy and had some of the best sauce I've ever tasted. Sesame chicken and eggroll were perfectly prepared, delicious to eat, and exactly what you are looking for. The pork fried rice is both good and bad. The rice is tasty, but has undercooked peas which throw off the mix. The low mein can be skipped. Low mein in Jersey City seems to be a white whale. I had sesame chicken with vegetable fried rice, super fast service for pickup. Definitely recommend this place as a solid Chinese spot.

My pretty much to-go-to Chinese take-out. Personal fav is the the shrimp and broccoli. Be warned however on getting anything off their Mexican menu...I think they go under Taco King or something for that...anyway it has never once failed to get me and mine sick as dogs. read more

The food is no different from other places but they haven't let me down yet. They are slowly getting better and better especially since they updated their menu. It's not really a place I would sit down and enjoy my meal but I would order take out or pick up from here. The workers are nice and I can understand their English through their Chinese accent. The portions are pretty huge for the Mexican type dishes. They give an abundance of rice and beans as side dishes. The steak, chicken, and pork are actually good pretty decent and not too chewy or bland. The Chinese side of their business is the typical norm where as everything is the same as the other places and not that much better either. It's good because it's cheap and right around the corner from my place. It's hard to find a real Chinese takeout place that differs from the rest but I will find you one day. Make no mistake, there's not an ounce of authentic Chinese here - but man is the American Chinese food here good. I'm a concierge at an apartment building and one of Future's delivery men were waiting for a resident in my lobby. While I was working he wanted to introduce himself to me. He said his name is June and so I introduced myself too. Then he came around my desk to shake my hand (which was a little odd to me bc we're in a pandemic but I did it anyways idk why). But then he reached his arms out for a hug...so I said no we shouldn't do that so I put my hands out for a fist bump instead and he grabbed me tightly by my wrists and pulled me in for a hug! Then he lifted me up off of the ground and started shaking me!!! I didn't even know what to do because I was shocked. I'm a 23 yr old girl and this total stranger decided it was okay to touch me. After he left I called the restaurant to make a complaint and they were no help at all. I asked for the name of the person I was talking too and he responded with "um whats YOUR name?" I told him I needed to make a complaint with a manager and he told me I would have to come into the store and write it on a piece of paper. I said I wasn't comfortable going there and he hung up on me. I called back to quickly tell him what happened to make them aware and obviously he was no help a all. I ended up filing a report with the police who went to the restaurant to identify this man and tell the owner. I'm not sure why this man felt the need to invade my space but if you're female reading this and thinking of ordering, it's good to keep in mind that creeps like June work there. I will also be keeping pepper spray at my desk since some men don't know what boundaries are. :) read more
