Jinky was my stylist - I have to say, it was THE BEST hair cut experience I have had my entire life. For background, I'm the kind of person who is petrified - PETRIFIED - of telling a hair stylist if there is something I want them to fix or add about the cut. I tell hair stylist what I want, I show pictures, and pray to all mighty God they understand. 40% of the time, I leave unsatisfied and go get a second hair cut and this process starts again (more of a me problem - I know, I know). BUT - with Jinky, she not only asked me what I wanted prior to the cut, but it was an on going conversation throughout the cut. It felt like every 3 minutes she would stop, explain what she was doing and confirm if this was what I wanted. She actively was seeking my input the WHOLE TIME. It was amazing. And it was clear she totally understood what I wanted - and she TRUSTED what *I* wanted for *my* hair, and went for it. I wanted tons of layering and texturing, and instead of just moving on to the next section of hair after texturing, she would STOP AND ASK ME if I wanted more or if it was enough. She would give me time to look. She would ask me to run my fingers through my hair to get a sense of what I wanted. Do YALL UNDERSTAND HOW FABULOUS THIS IS????? Oh my goodness - other stylists take note! Anyway, I left with the best hair cut I've ever had and did not have to do my walk of shame to some other hair cut place. This review for Ari is sooo overdue. Due to my public facing job I needed to step up my hair game. I've been going to her for hair coloring for awhile now and trust her completely with my hair, she never disappoints. She goes the extra mile to figure out what looks great, gives good advice on styling and products and I feel very comfortable with her. Pricing is reasonable as well. So, who else has been experimenting at the expense of their hair during shelter-in-place!? Lol. I've been on a major DIY binge for almost a year since we've been stuck at home. I've been making candles and my own all-purpose cleaners among many other things lol. When it came to my hair, I cut it myself in front of a mirror a few times using "unicorn ponytail haircut" YouTube videos as my guide lol. I tried not one, but two different color Overtone semi-permanent hair dyes, and applied Arctic Fox's "Bleach, please!" a few months ago. Needless to say, my hair had a lot going on when I walked into my appointment today. Mary had me covered! First off, I originally scheduled a haircut but later changed my mind when I got there - figuring it would be good to fix the colors I had going by a professional while I was there. Mary couldn't do a full color correction and highlights that day (which would take hours), but recommended something called a glaze which was described to me as a semi-permanent toner-like color. She estimated it would last about two months. The glaze would only take 30 minutes or so (20 minutes would be letting the glaze sit in). The glaze would essentially be making the canvas blank as we could later go in and add highlights. Actually, she recommended balayage in a future appointment and I have had that once before so I was down to go back to giving that a go. Mary added in some deep conditioner at no cost. My hair needed some TLC after the past year of no professional treatment lol. After she was done washing all this product out, we were ready to trim my hair. Then we dried it and thinned it out. She was able to style my bangs in a curtain-like fashion, and she informed me that I needed to grow my bangs out before curtain bangs could work on me. I appreciated being informed rather than ending up with short curtain bangs! I'll share photos when I get the balayage done! Mary had my back and was super chill to talk to throughout. If you are a returning client, you can set up an appointment online. If you're a new client, you can email them and they will reach out to set you up. This is the latest COVID procedures I saw as of February 2021. I came here once before, almost a year ago in March 2020. Eden hooked me up with curtain bangs and a haircut/blowout. This was right before lockdowns, so they offered a drink as you arrived - which is so nice! Looking forward to the nice little gestures to come back once things get back to normal. In terms of COVID procedures, they only allow 4 clients to be seen at a time. It's a pretty large space so you are pretty spaced out from everyone else a majority of the time. They take your temperature, give you a mask, and ask you to double mask while you're inside! They also provide a robe as you get checked in, so you can be really comfortable during your services. Oh and I loved getting little sample products as I was checking out. Looking forward to my future appointments and getting my hair did more here! read more

I saw Geneva for a cut for myself and my two year old daughter. It was my daughter's first haircut and she was patient and gentle with my daughter who was nervous first time being in a salon. She was excellent navigating around me and my mother in-law to get my daughters cut done and looking adorable! Then she gave me a nice cut with textured layers to lightened up my hair. Never come here for a hair cut! My hair was shoulder length when I walked in to the salon. I asked for a women's short hair cut and the hair dresser completely ruined my hair. The hair dressers here have no respect for their customers since they cannot admit when a hair cut is outside of their skill range. They even photographed the haircut before I left as if I didn't know that it looked like absolute rubbish. The salon originally refused to give me a refund so I had to e-mail their management. I honestly should have been paid for letting the clueless hair dresser practice cutting hair on a client. I have been going to FUTURE for 3 years now. I was new to the area and needed a place where I could trust someone with my hair. Background: I haven't been one to do much with my hair in the past, but got maybe 1 haircut a year and never colored it. Per my sister in laws recommendation, I scheduled with EDEN! And let me just start off by saying, she is the sweetest! She has a way of making you feel like your her bestie while in the chair and that she genuinely cares about how you're doing outside of the appointment. Hair wise- I first saw Eden in 2017 for a donation haircut to Pantene beautiful lengths program. Eden has a background in wig making and was able to to educate me on the programs she felt were best for the recipient of the hair. So 10in later, I did the big chop and I was so happy! My second visit, I let her color my virgin hair. We did a beautiful sun kissed balayage. It looked fabulous!!! I was so pleased at how natural and well blended it all came out. I now live in a different state.. and I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. So I now wait until I'm back in town to exclusively see Eden for any coloring or styling. I cannot recommend her enough! My last cut with her, she literally made me feel that despite cutting my hair, I have more volume that ever! read more

I was looking for an esthetician on NextDoor and was referred to Amanda Bettati by a neighbor of a similar age to mine. The experience was, and has continued to be, flawless. Getting a facial is pampering at its finest - the facial massage, brushing on of masks and treatments, the bonus hand and foot massage - it all adds up to such a wonderful experience. The products are well chosen and very natural. Even the extraction is fast and "productive". After a few sessions, the extractions have become easier so I know the treatments are working. Prior to finding Amanda, I had spent over $3000 on more intensive treatments for my 50 year old skin, including Halo laser treatment and a RevePeel that left my facial skin falling off in sheets for a week. After all that money and pain, I just never felt like my skin was improved. It turns out that regular skin care and treatments are the key for me, not the destruction of my poor skin cells! Fantastic experience with my haircut and blow dry! Had a great conversation with my hair dresser and it made the time go by so fast! I felt like I had been coming to this salon for years (even though I was only traveling through for a wedding). I used the yelp offer for a free olaplex deep conditioning treatment which was like a leave-in conditioner for 10-15 mins. The salon was very clean and offered beverages (alcoholic and non-alc). An added bonus is that the salon is in a super cute area so you can grab food and do a little local shopping! I, like many other people reading this review, found FUTURE Vanity/Novelty on Yelp. Let me tell you why FUTURE is the best and why I'm always coming back. When I first found FUTURE, I was attending school at UC Berkeley and needed a salon close to campus. I called FUTURE and asked the receptionist who the best person was for bright, colored hair -- she recommended Casey Montalbano. It's been almost two years and Casey, FUTURE, and I have been through a lot. We've done a pink ombré, purple ombré, all-over pink hair, a several shades of pink ombré, and just recently (November 2016) a neon green ombré. And get this: Casey is so talented, the neon green ombré she did for me was featured in BuzzFeed's "17 Of The Prettiest Hair Trends We Saw This Year!" I've graduated and moved out of Berkeley, but I still take the time to drive 45 minutes up to FUTURE because it is absolutely worth it. I love how Casey is always up for my crazy color ideas. Casey is patient and she is honest. She'll let me know if it'll look good, how it will fade, what color combinations would look best. She tells it like it is -- she's not wishy-washy -- and that's a rare trait from hairstylists. Casey is more than a hairstylist; she's a homie. I first came to Rosa when she was a junior stylist, and she blew all previous stylists out of the water. I have medium-length, fine, wavy/curly hair, and she is always super supportive of what I'm looking for in my cut and the best way to achieve the final look. Booking has always been super easy and positive with a phone call, and the salon also calls to remind you of the appointment. I usually have to book Rosa about 2 weeks in advance to catch her on a Saturday or after work. The salon itself is clean and lively, with lots of natural light. Every appointment with Rosa starts with her taking a look at the state of my hair and asking me what I'd like. I can't remember if she suggested it or I asked for it, but she cuts my hair dry to be able to see the length and curl pattern as she cuts. She layers and cuts sections at an angle so that everything falls well, and the cut makes my ends look refreshed and healthy even when I'm not willing to lose much length. I HIGHLY recommend her for wavy or curly hair. I don't follow the "curly girl" method because, while I do wear my hair natural, I don't need to have the curliest possible hair at all times and am very low-maintenance with my hair. I really appreciate that while Rosa cuts curly hair with care and expertise, she doesn't double her price and slap on a "Devacut" label if you happen to have waves or more. After the cut, she washes and conditions my hair (with I think Davines products?) and gives a wonderful scalp massage, followed by asking how I'd like it styled. Usually she diffuses it a bit and then puts me under the hood to finish drying. I also appreciate that not once has Rosa asked if I want it blow dried straight, which literally every other stylist has asked immediately. I absolutely recommend Rosa. She's very easy going and non-judgmental. She really listens to what you want and cuts hair thoughtfully and with natural skill. I particularly recommend her to anyone with waves or curls. When I went earlier this year, it was $75 before tip for a cut with her and definitely worth it. read more
