Do yourself and your brows a favor by avoiding this place like the plague. I left this place on a Friday afternoon crying after an eyebrow threading. Right before my eyebrow threading started, I requested them to mostly clean the area and said I do not like thin eyebrows so not too thin please. I should've known by how long it was taking that they were taking away so much hair. I asked to see the progress on the first eyebrow so they stopped. I looked in the mirror and immediately said oh no too thin and the lady responded "it has to be thin. You don't have enough hair" I felt really defeated that she refused to listen to me. The only thing I could do was lay back down so that the other eyebrow at least matched. However, my eyebrows don't even match! They are both thin and one brow is thinner than the other! I was tearing up in the place and she didn't care. She just wanted my cash. I left in tears. Not only did I pay money for bad service, but she made me feel completely invisible and would not listen to my request. Really disappointed. I asked for my brows to be as full as possible but I have never had them threaded so thin. My left brow is much thinner than the right at this point, but I didn't want to take any more off the right, which was already thinner than I wanted. I wish they had taken the time to listen a bit more before just starting. Writing this review out of frustration due to the poor customer service and attitude I received from one of the ladies working there. I called around 5:30 pm to see if they could thread my brows. No one answered. Yelp said they closed at 6. Since there was still 30 minutes to closing, I drove there, paid for parking, walked in at 5:45. Door was open and she was working on 1 client. I asked for eyebrow threading and she said she couldn't because they close at 6 but it wasn't 6 yet. I explained I had tried to call and that I had a newborn at home and finally had child care. I asked if she could please accommodate me. She didn't even look at me and just said no. I was a return client here for over a year and always treated them with utmost respect and appreciation but I will never go back. This lady was new. I hadn't seen her there before. read more

My mom and I needed our eyebrows done and we stumbled across brows by the bay and we're very happy we did! We called to make two appointments before just showing up even though they accept walk ins and they were able to get us in right away back to back. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the aesthetician that helped us but she was quick and efficient which was great! Friendly staff, followed Covid procedures and our eyebrows look fabulous. I chose to get my eyebrows waxed after waxing your eyebrows she also does a quick threading just to make sure the shape is perfect and to get the tiny hairs that don't get picked up by the wax. I've been here twice for a brow wax and tint and can't recommend it. Lakshme did a poor job and seemed not to know it. The tint was uneven and I had to twist her arm to get her to put more on the areas that didn't initially take the tint. She insisted that I don't have hair in the light spots, saying that she'd just be putting the tint on my skin (absurd - my hair is platinum blond so I guess she needs glasses to see it). Siri was much better. Even then, she didn't ask anything about how I wanted my brows to look or the shade to tint. She gave me dark brown brows which is not what I'd have chosen. Consistent with other reviews, I can't recommend this place. Only saving grace is that they're cheap. read more

Great place for threading in Berkeley! I requested an appointment via yelp and got a response within 5 minutes. I came here a little early and she was finishing up with another person. When it was my turn, I told her I wanted just a clean up and she did just that. I knocked off a star because my left eyebrow is a teeny bit uneven, but I feel like that eyebrow is trickier usually. Updating my review to reflect my great brow tinting experience! I decided to try it after my usual brow threading since I get sick of doing my brows and Lela recommended it to me. It's ~$15 if I remember correctly, and takes 10 min tops! The brow tint is applied to your brows, you wait for a bit, tint is wiped off, and bam new brows!! My tint lasted fully (no makeup needed whatsoever) for about a week and then faded for a week afterwards. So in all, two weeks worth of your tint! read more

They always exceed my expectations with how beautiful my eyebrows look, and it gives me so much confidence & my coworkers always compliment my brows. This time, Maya did my brows and she was so gentle and kind and they turned out perfect! I wouldn't think of going anywhere else after covid, their cleanliness is top notch, they're always masked and/or face shielded, and they clean everything between each client. My brow experience here was extremely disappointing. The woman who threaded my brows was very rushed. She didn't take the time to ask me about my preferences and in the middle of threading she stopped to work on the brow tint of the person sitting next to me. I ended up with brows a lot thinner than I wanted. I have also never had such a painful threading session before. Overhearing the next chair, I could sense that my experience was one-off. The place I used to go to get my eyebrows threaded closed down so I was looking for a new spot that I could come to that wasn't too far, too expensive and had good estheticians. I'm happy to say I found it here! Not only is the staff friendly, but they have a very soft touch when it came to the threading process. The prices are also reasonable and you don't feel like your paying more than the service is worth. Also, the added bonus is that there is no wait time (and if there is, it's very short). I go out of my way to come here for threading and waxing services for the quality and price. The staff here are awesome-- I've typically been helped by Leela. Service is quick and precise. I love the space as well-- it's bright, open, and airy. The prices here are very competitive I used to get my eyebrows waxed, but since coming here and being encouraged to try threading for my brows I am a convert! When I first came here, I was terrified. Like hands white-knuckling the armrests of the chairs kind of terrified. Because here's the thing, going to a new person for brows is taking a big risk. You can hide a bad haircut, but you sure as hell can't hide wonky, asymmetrical or too-plucked brows! Instead your face is cursed for at a minimum 2-3 weeks. So I breathed a huge, huge sigh of relief to find that Brow by the Bay did not make my worst brow nightmare come true. Instead it was the complete opposite! I have found my new brow person I trust and will follow until either she moves too far or I move, whichever comes first. [Probs me.] I started out with an eyebrow wax because I had never done threading before. Lela being the warm, kind-hearted person she is, gently asked me if I wanted to get a sense of what threading felt like. So I said yes. And what do you know, it was no more painful than waxing and actually way kinder on my skin! From then on, I've gone back every 3 weeks to get eyebrow threading. Each time, I have never had to wait more than 2-5 minutes to be seen and the results have been consistently excellent. PLUS she gives you a mini eyebrow massage at the very end that is amazing and leaves me with big ol' smile on my face! The prices are incredibly fair. Like, can't believe this is in Rockridge, don't you know this is the Bay Area kind of fair. It's the lowest I've paid for brows pre-tip in years. I am actually kind of a little concerned about it because I really want these ladies to succeed and College Ave rent can't be that cheap. PS - Parking is easy and plentiful. Just be careful from 4-6 pm certain streets are tow-away. I had a bad experience where a crazy old white dude started yelling at me and honking obnoxiously when I parked at 3:50 pm. PPS - They also accept credit cards. PPPS - Don't forget to get a frequent client card! I always have an amazing experience here! I've been getting my brows threaded and waxed here since it opened. The space is very cute and clean. I'm always happy with the work they do. I have thick eyebrows that always need a clean up and reshaping, and they always do a fantastic job. The staff is always kind and helpful. The prices are great. Also, they handle COVID really well.
