This wasn't the first time I felt ripped off by G Adventures but this recent trip was so unpleasant it not only made me never want to use G Adventures again but also never to return to the country (Madagascar). G Adventures charged thousands of dollars for the trip and put us in basic (trying not to use the word crappy) accommodations. The ITC lodge in Ranohira we stayed at had no running water but somehow the toilet still leaked, cockroaches everywhere including on our towels, which we were told specifically that we weren't allowed to kill. When I showed my friends/family picture of this "hotel" bathroom, they said it looked like a prison. None of the places we stayed at had reliable running water, electricity, or Wi-Fi. We were covered in mud/dirt (likely mixed dried animal feces I'm sure) every day and unable to shower more often than not. With the living standard in Madagascar, hotels are very, very cheap compared to the rest of the world. Even so G Adventures chose to put us in the most basic facilities that would not even qualify as a hostel in most other countries. Furthermore, this trip included very few activities and almost everything is optional, which means you have to pay out of pocket. If you choose not to do the optional activities, you're left with nothing to do except for staying at the crappy "hotels" so you really don't have a choice. During the 15 day trip, only three meals TOTAL were included. So G Adventures charged us a large amount of money but provided us with next to nothing regarding lodging, food, or activities. Where did the money go? They're just scalping basically. The trip felt like a scam. I contacted their customer service beforehand to see which level of footwear is recommended for hiking during this trip and also if I should bring my own snorkeling gear. She reassured me that sneakers would be fine and if I brought my own gear, I could participate in snorkeling without having to pay extra again. Neither were true. I ended up falling in the muddy, slippery jungle, and had to get assistance because we were walking on steep rock surfaces (the type you need a rope to climb down with), and was charged for snorkeling anyway. This was my first trip with them after taking their Turkey trip last year when they dropped the price literally a couple days after I paid in full, then told me they wouldn't give me the price difference even in travel credit because price could change anytime. They really care about every single penny they can squeeze out of you rather than customer service, satisfaction, and retention. I know they spent a lot of money on advertising to make it seem like a nice tour company. Beware - that's where the money you're paying going toward, NOT the actual trip you'll be taking.

Have gone on yet another fabulous trip with gadventures. This time to Costa Rica. I can't recommend them enough. Tip: look for sales online where you can save from 15-30% off

Overall a pretty disappointing experience and would never travel with G Adventures again. I took the Siem Reap to Vietnam river cruise in Dec 2019. Let's start with the good. Food was good on several nights, although the breakfast was limited to the same things most days. Phany is a server who made it a point to address us by our name each day and was always smiling and helpful. She was sweet. The other cruisers were great. In fact that was the best part mingling with the other travelers. Many characters. Everyone was either from America, UK, or Australia. Two swiss. That about sums up the good, now with the bad: The Tour: The tour is not well designed. You are treated as a walking wallet from the first hour you meet the CEO, Sey, who calls himself Bamboo. We rarely docked and instead would drop anchor into the middle of the river which then required a small boat to come pick us up. Therefore, we were beholden to the tour's schedule. We would take some historical transportation like an ox cart, rickshaw or tuk tuk out to a 1 or two "sights" where the mission was to get us to buy trinkets and overpriced tourist garbage. The silver maker, the clay pot maker, the snake wine store, the treat store, almost every single "adventure" was solely made to take you somewhere to spend money on overpriced tourist trap items. There were a couple of Chinese pagodas thrown in. With the exception of a single Vietnamese local market, there was never any time to walk through the small towns we were taken to because after leaving the trinket shop, we would immediately board the small boat to take us back to the mothership. It's like they wanted to control exactly where you spent your money, only on their kick-back places and nowhere else. I wanted to experience at least an hour of each town we went to: go to a local restaurant, cafe, or just walk around and see these small villages, but that was not an option. It was basically pointless to even go to these small town because we really couldn't experience them much. Many of the activities were just pretty pointless and didn't have much to do with the culture of the country. In Vietnam we went to this "bird sanctuary" where there were no birds and took rowboats. Another day in Vietnam we were taken to a "tourist island" where we rode in a row boat conveyor belt again where the sole mission is to pack as many tourists down this disgusting small channel. What was the point of this island? There was no culture, and nothing interesting on it. It was a specially designed tourist trap designed to bring in as many tourists as possible to force them to buy stuff. The was only one option for an overpriced restaurant (you either ate there, or you didn't eat lunch that day!). During the first hour on the 6 hour bus ride to the cruise ship (I heard later on they don't even bother with the close dock anymore) he passed out a sheet with some information. Half the information was about how "Asia is a tipping culture and here are the suggested tipping amounts to give me and the crew." Nowhere in Asia has tipping culture, in fact. Then he proceeded to talk about how he wanted everyone to give $20 to put into a "tipping kitty" that he would feel out to bellboys, tuk tuk drivers, etc. Well that kind of defeats the purpose of what a tip is for and it's very impersonal and tacky. If you really want to do it that way, just add $20 to the cruise fee and take it out of there. On the last dinner during his good bye speech, Sey made a Faux Pax and while talking about placing money for the crew in the tipping box on the center table said that everyone on the cruise was rich. This isn't a Viking River cruise or Abercrombie & Kent cruise there Sey. The CEO: Within the first hour of the 6 hour bus ride, Sey promptly told us about all these sad stories of his about how his wife had an abortion and then two miscarriages, how his teeth were rotting, how he doesn't make enough money now that he has a child. I've heard these sob stories before from other tourist operators and I believe they are trying the strategy of pulling on the heartstrings to pump up the tips. Great, let's start the tour with a downer! The CEO was rarely seen when not leading us to a tourist trap. I saw him a couple of times hanging out alone with his laptop in the dining room with the lights off. Once when I couldn't find him after an exhaustive search of the ship, I had to have the bartender call him to the deck because I wanted to clarify a question. He certainly wasn't working for those tips he graciously informed us he expected. He could have hung out at the bar or at a table on the sundeck and made himself available and been part of the "family" he kept referring us to as. Oh by the way, every time he refers to us as family, my eyes rolled. Does that patronizing actually work? Many times we would cruise for 2 hours and then just drop anchor somewhere in the river for the remainder of the night. [ran out of room ...]

I cannot express truly how amazing this is. I need to note, though, that many of places G adventures goes are developing nations. If you want a 5 star hotel, the guarantee that your food is up to health standards, and you don't want to see poverty or trash...visit Paris. Many of this reviews critique the hotels or the trash of areas. We need to remember that these countries are not as wealthy as Western Europe, the US or Canada. You are not treated as royalty on these tours, you are there to experience the real culture. Having said that, the tour quite will find the cleanest accommodations possible and keep you as safe as possible. I did a tour in India. It was educational and filled with so many unique experiences. I made pottery on a hand spun wheel, made bread in a temple, visited heritage sites, drank on a rooftop club in Delhi, and bikes through a tiny village while dodging goat herds. It was phenomenal and I highly recommend it for anyone willing to have a true cultural experience. read more

I regret doing business with G Adventures. On Sunday, 8-23-26 after 11pm, I received a last minute email changing the meeting time and place for my tour in Japan. I'll be leaving for Japan on Friday, 8-28-26. The email listed the address, but no name for the place and no time. I had already booked and paid for another hotel - the original meeting place for the tour. I tried calling G Adventures last night on three occasions, and only received confused and conflicting information from the third agent. Furthermore, the agent said I could only bring one carry-on bag and one personal item, directly conflicting with G Adventures email dated 3-9-26, stating, "If you absolutely must bring more than what fits into a small carry-on bag plus day pack, you may bring a second carry-on bag." I tried telephoning the Toronto, Ontario Canada office to ascertain my meeting place and time Tuesday morning, 8-25-26, to no avail. Be very wary of this company. read more

15day National Geographic Inca Explorer The tour had an excellent itinerary and activities, giving a broad overview of Peru - we loved it. Accommodations (with one exception) were great, and all had an included breakfast buffet. The tour's included activities (e.g. cooking class, pisco tour and tasting, potato park, boat tour of Isla Ballestas) were terrific. Appreciated the two included flights which saved a lot of driving time. Logistics were handled, and everything was smooth and easy (thanks to our CEO, Mary Chu!). read more

I have gone on 2 tours with G Adentures. One to Morocco and one to Jordan. Both had great guides and the lodging was good. We stayed in lodging that were not big corporate run hotels, but ones with more character and always clean. Their prices were in line with what they provided. read more

I was left sick and stranded on the Southern Spain Tour. I am a 72-year-old senior who speaks little or no Spanish. I've traveled with the group several times in the past. This trip was unusual because I had three leaders over two weeks. I came down with a virus in Seville. It was my bad luck to get sick and have a leadership change during this period. I had to stay in the hotel until I recovered. My wife and other tour members went on to Barcelona. I contacted all three tour leaders and the 24-hour hotline. I got no text, phone call, or assistance from either. I was left to my own devices to make it to Barcelona. I tried to report this when I got it. I tried to get through to everyone. I suspect you will have a good experience with this company if you stay healthy and avoid injuries. read more

There was a plethora of issues from guide attitudes, accommodation quality, and food quality. Due to my experience, this will be my first and only time I use G Adventures. My first issue with G Adventures was the accommodations. I would call most of the accommodations abysmal at best. In Wadi Rum, we were taken to a camp with no AC or fans in over 100 degree weather. We all had to sleep outside because we were getting sick in the heat in the rooms. Then we had to deal with bugs biting us all night and also sleeping on the ground. The Seven Wonders Hotel in Petra had a broken AC and a shower that flooded the entire bathroom. I injured myself getting out of the pool because the ladder was not properly fastened to the wall. All 13 people on my tour in Egypt got food poisoning at a restaurant G Adventures took us to as part of the tour. It was so bad that I actually pooped in my pants in my hotel room because I couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. People missed multiple days of activities because of G Adventures' oversight. It seemed like the company wanted more money for extra add ons. The guide in Jordan claimed we all "had" to do the extras or no one could do them. I refused and somehow the rest of the people were still able to do the add ons. While I saw cool things, I overall had a negative experience for most of the trip. Between the subpar accommodations, the food poisoning, the Jordan guide, it was not an enjoyable trip. It was extremely frustrating that I spent a lot of time running to the toilet for days and was not able to enjoy a majority of the trip due to the restaurant G Adventures picked. I feel some sort of refund should be offered due to this gross oversight of safety for passengers, as well as all of the other issues. I contacted them about the above issues. In a series of emails, they accused me of mismanaging my expectations, did not take any accountability for the food poisoning, and misread/rudely responded to emails. read more

I recently had the worst experience with G Adventures, and I would not recommend them to anyone. I booked a trip with them for a long-awaited vacation to India Marchbut it turned out to be a nightmare. First of all, I did not receive ANY information about the tour guides or hotels before my arrival, which was extremely frustrating after a long 19-hour flight. When I arrived at the airport, I had to wait for 6 hours just to find out where I would be staying and who my tour guide would be. To make matters even worse, during our visit to the Taj Mahal, which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip, our guide was disgustingly rude and unprofessional. He created issues with photographers just to scam us into paying them. As a result, we were harassed, forced to sit in a police station for over 4 hours, and then HE WAS arrested due to not having the proper license to give us a tour in the first place.G ADVENTURES had the audacity to report he showed proof of his license AFTER I arrived back to the USA and stated this was a mistake. A mistake on whose part ? And why wasn't this mistake fixed during my stay in India ? I had to pay for a new guide, disliked all the hotels and spent over 2,000$ just to enjoy my trip and fix their mistakes and lack of planning It was an absolutely terrifying and humiliating experience, and I am appalled that G Adventures would allow someone like this to be a part of their team. Even after a month of trying to receive some type of compensation for our ordeal, G Adventures reported that they were unable to do anything for us. The lack of accountability from G Adventures for their lack of communication, support, and planning is unacceptable. I would strongly urge anyone considering booking a trip with G Adventures to think twice. The company's disregard for the safety and well-being of their customers is simply unacceptable, and their failure to take responsibility for their mistakes is truly disappointing. read more

Book an adventure in the land of Covid-19! I was not surprised to see the reports from others, below, about outbreaks of covid-19 on their tours, and the shoddy way they were managed. My wife and I booked a tour in Greece in May of 2023. We chose the tour partly because they claimed to take seriously measures to protect the participants from Covid-19. However, in the midst of the outbreak on our tour, the tour guide made clear that if anybody came forward with a positive test, they would be kicked out of the tour. I would have little problem with this if it were part of a sincere effort to control the outbreak. However, the tour guide coupled this information with a lecture emphasizing their "freedom" to choose not to take a covid test even if showing symptoms. He seemed to be actually encouraging people not to test themselves. He refused to have covid tests on-hand, even when members of the group offered to spring for the costs. He said his bosses told him "no more testing". When my wife started showing symptoms, I asked the tour guide if he had even one test on hand, and he told me, "no, not on me" and made it clear he didn't consider this to be his problem. I got help from the front desk of the hotel, who called ahead to a pharmacy a kilometer away, which I walked to. My wife was, in fact, positive and the tour guide kicked out of the tour, as promised, when we divulged this. This "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward Covid containment may be good PR damage control about the frequency and extent of outbreaks on G-Adventures tours, but it is a recipe for sending everybody home sick. Six out of the sixteen people on our tour got tested and reported positive tests out of a sense of obligation to other members of the tour. We were all kicked out. One person started coughing non-stop early in the tour, but there was no effort by the tour to head off the problem early. We both got extremely sick. Given the large number of people who travel with them in vans and buses and the high percentage of them that are seniors, sooner or later some of them will have to be unnecessarily hospitalized in foreign countries or worse. I think it is disgraceful that National Geographic would lend its name to this outfit. Judging from their poor hygienic practices and the other reviews I see below, uncontained outbreaks of Covid-19 must be common on G-Adventure tours. read more

Do not book a trip with G Adventures! The first thing the group was told on the May 11 Rome to Budapest was "this hostel has bed bugs!". They don't choose clean accommodations, only cheap ones. Their tours have "walks" around the area, otherwise you plan your own activities. Stay away! read more

I have taken 2 tours with G adventures. One to Morocco. The other to Costa Rica. Loved both tours. Reasonable prices, organized and obviously the company cares about the people and environment in which tours are held. I have not blamed them when my trip was canceled due to the pandemic last year, it's not their fault. I got a credit and 2 years to rebook, which I think is more then fair. Thank you, for reading this. I rarely give any reviews, but this company is 5 stars and don't hesitate. Use G adventures. read more

This is the worst travel company ever. The tour guide was nice, but not as good as I have had in the past. My room mate snored like a 3000 pound pig, and she complained about my Dexcom - which is necessary. I was asked if I could unplug it - if they want me to die. Everyone was getting colds and we were all tested for Covid. 5 had covid, and we were all kicked out of the tour. The people in UK weren't much help and told us to go to customersolutions@gadventures.com. Their response was that they won't refund 11 days of the tour which I did not get and to go through the insurance company. My credit card did a chargeback for me. $2400 is not chump change. They also gave me a new card, so I don't think that they'll get the $ back, or challenge it. I had to create my own tour, and it is more expensive when a person does it versus a tour company. I have read many reviews and everyone is saying the same. When you first call, everything is wonderful and nice, if something goes wrong, "Sorry Charlie". There was too much free time, and this tour $4999 was way too expensive for what it was. I loved Spain and Portugal and the people were kind and helpful, just there are many more tour companies that do the same trip, without the callous people in this tour company. I will never travel with them again, and I did put $350 down on another tour. DO NOT TRAVEL WITH G. read more
To be clear this rating is about the sign up experience and reflection of their non existent customer service. I wouldn't know the quality of the trips themselves because it's been impossible to sign up for a trip or to communicate with anyone at the company. I tried to sign up for a Belize trip through their website - recommended as a partnership with National Geographic's, in fact I found the trip on Natgeo first and got redirected to G's site. G's site didn't work - after filing out all the info, some barely necessary at this preliminary stage, the page stalled just before the payment section and never advanced further despite repeated tries. At which point I tried calling and encountered the insufferably chipper and repetitive recording and eventually was able to leave a message. I left several over several days as the call was never returned and there was never a live person at the other end of the line no matter what time of day. Eventually I also emailed their customer service a few times but unsurprisingly got no response (other than an automated message acknowledging receipt. It's as if the company simply doesn't exist or has disappeared. It is pretty shocking that with this kind of service they are still endorsed by Natgeo which provides them with the legitimacy that's no longer justified. read more

I haven't even left for this trip yet, but I have never had to work so hard to get someone to answer a question. I have called them five times at this point without a return call. I have waited on hold for almost two hours without a response while listening to a cheery message on repeat. I tried contacting them via chat They put me on hold for over an hour, noting that I was 7th in line, then 6th until I was finally 'next' then 'being transferred', then I was suddenly back to 2nd in line for another 45 minutes until I was told I must have called during their off hours. This happening about two hours before their closing time. Really poor customer support, they spent money on marketing and website, but the experience is so bad that it is unbelievable. Stay clear. I will attempt to cancel this tour asap. read more

Recently completed the Paris to Normandy upgraded tour. We signed up ( 3 couples) because it was advertised as a National Geographic tour conducted by G Adventures a Canadian company. Despite assurances by G Adventures and National Geographic's we were promised our guide(s) would be National Geographic trained. Our tour leader, called a CEO (Chief Experience Officer) was not trained by National Geographic's. She was a tour leader for 17 years with US high school students. She was a generalist with little passion for either Normandy or Paris. Very disappointed in this tour and in the lack of accountability by National Geographic's and G Adventures . Most distressing was the fact that they both lied to us about the experience our tour guide would have. If it was Covid as the excuse they should have given us the option to opt out or at least admitted the problem up front and given the choice back to us whether to continue with the so called tour. read more

Used to love this company until they listed Taiwan as part of China. First of all, you're misleading people that visa requirement is the same, it is completely different. Even currency and language is different. Second of all, you're indicating taiwan is under communist regime. This just means your company is bowing to communist China. I am no longer interested in your service going forward. read more

In 2013 my wife and I travelled to Machu Pichu and the Galapagos with G Adventures. Great destinations but accommodation on the G Adventure's ship was terrible (a leaking toilet, sewage smell and a poor quality room). We complained and asked for some financial consideration but they refused any refund. They gave us a $500 voucher to apply against another G Adventures trip but it expired in 1 year and was never used. My in-laws really like G Adventures and invited us to join them for a February 2021 Antarctic Expedition. We gave G Adventures a $2000 USD as a deposit in summer 2019. By January 2021 we all knew the dangers of being on a boat during the Covid pandemic. In the Fall of 2020 we received an email from G Adventures giving us the option of applying our deposit to another trip or giving them the balance due for the Antartic trip. ($30,000+). I called them and asked for a refund, which they refused. They said the trip was going forward and I should either book the same trip for the next season, a different G Adventures trip or pay the balance. I told them no trips were going to the Antarctic due to Covid, but they insisted it was going ahead as planned. They then offered the option of transferring our deposit to someone else. We felt they were extorting us since the trip was cancelled and they knew it. Fast forward 22 months and our in-laws booked another trip to Antarctic with G Adventures. We tried recoup our deposit by transferring it to them but apparently because our deposit was in US funds and our in-laws were paying in Canadian dollars G Adventure's currency exchange policy made the transfer financially impractical. We were furious. We decided to give it one last try and contact G Adventures again so this month we called and talked to Joel, from Customer Service. He promised to look into it and call me back the next day. To my amazement he did exactly what he promised and said the refund was approved. We received the funds within 10 days. So overall we are happy that G Adventures finally did the right thing. In spite of how well Joel treated us we will never travel with them again. read more

I have been on 3 separate G-Adventures and each one of them was awesome! Belize Explorer, Cambodia & Laos Mekong Adventure and recently Essence of Nicaragua. The thing that I love about G Adventures is that all you have to do is show up and have fun. They handle almost everything for you and get you to the best things that particular country has to offer. When I come back from a trip and look at my photographs I am always impressed to see how much I got to experience without having to put in the effort to plan it out myself. I highly recommend this company, I am planning 2 more trips with them in 2018. read more

I am writing this comment to inform others of the unethical business practices of G Adventures. I hope that others can learn from my experience and not lose their money to this company. After not traveling for years during the pandemic, I splurged on a Galapagos tour with G Adventures. I was already traveling in Ecuador when I learned that a powerful political group had called for a national strike beginning the week before my tour. Most people seemed to think the strike would only last a few days, but it lasted for over two weeks and travel was crippled by violent protests and roadblocks across the country. Though I was just 200 km from the airport, there was absolutely no way for me to get there to catch my flight to the Galapagos. None of G Adventures' "experts" were able to offer any help at all. At the last minute I located an expensive air rescue flight at my own expense, but it was cancelled. I tried absolutely everything, but I was physically prevented from attending my cruise. I eventually had to evacuate the country over land -- a very difficult journey. I assumed that G Adventures was a reputable business, and would offer me a refund or at least a credit. However, G Adventures' customer service is non-existent. If I was lucky enough to speak to a representative, they would deflect and give me mixed messages or false information. I was eventually informed by email that G Adventures would be keeping my money. This was insult to injury given the significant amounts of time, money and effort I had already lost. Do not fall for G Adventures feel-good marketing. G Adventures is a disreputable company that will steal your money at the very first opportunity. They will not offer you any assistance or respond to any customer service requests, no matter how pressing. If anything at all goes wrong with your tour you will lose your money and have no recourse to get it back. I wish I had known all this before I made the mistake of booking a tour with G Adventures. read more

TL;DR: DO NOT USE G ADVENTURES! While they might look good on paper, it is possibly the most disingenuous company that I have ever interacted with. Their tours are full of hidden fees, their promises of "lifetime deposits" & "guaranteed departures" are nothing but lies, and their customer service is horrible. I haven't written a review regarding this experience before now because I've been trying to give G Adventures the opportunity to make things right. Unfortunately, at this point it seems like that is extremely unlikely to happen, and not at all unless I make a scene publicly. My apologies for the novel, but it's a long story. So, where to begin? I suppose we'll start with the fact that G Adventures advertises "lifetime deposits" & "guaranteed departures". I booked their Complete Galapagos tour in early 2019. Their Terms & Conditions at the time of booking clearly stated that if they cancelled the tour that I would receive: a substitute tour of equivalent or superior value, or a substitute tour of lesser value & a partial refund, or a full refund of all monies paid for the cancelled Tour. Of course, an exception is made regarding circumstances beyond their control (i.e. Force Majeure events). However, the spirit of what the company advertises certainly gives one the impression that they would attempt to make things right should such an event happen. (Spoiler alert: They don't.) As the departure date (mid-March 2020) neared, I kept an eye on the evolving COVID crisis in China. G Adventures sent me multiple emails assuring me that they were taking all possible safety precautions, that the tour was still going ahead, that tourism was important for the local economy, and that Ecuador was unaffected. My husband & I debated cancelling, but those same Terms & Conditions which promised a full refund if the tour was cancelled by G Adventures were starkly different regarding cancellation by the participant, indicating that we would keep our deposit ($700), but that the remainder of the $21,318 that we paid would be forfeit. And, of course, there's no Force Majeure exception in the T&C to protect customers. Foolishly, we believed the lies that G Adventures was selling us, and went. We entered the conference room at our hotel for our "kick-off meeting", and the guide told us that the Ecuadorian government had issued a ban on travel to the Galapagos, and then went on to say that the airport would be closed to all traffic in ~53h. The next several days are a blur, but my husband & I finally managed to get back to Canada just in time -- no thanks to G Adventures, who dropped us like a hot potato. And thus began the arduous process of trying to be compensated for the tour's cancellation. Initially, we were told we would receive a 110% credit valid for two years. Imagine, after being essentially abandoned in a foreign country during a global crisis, being told that more than $20,000 of your hard-earned money is just going to disappear at an arbitrary point in the future. I contacted customer service informing them of my dissatisfaction with this offer, and after weeks of back & forth I was able to get it extended to 5 years, but my insistence that they were not fulfilling the spirit of their own T&C fell on deaf ears. Feeling trapped, I attempted to rebook the Galapagos tour for 2021, That trip was also cancelled. Overwhelmed by G Adventures' indifference, swamped at work (I'm an ICU nurse), and having been dealing with PTSD from the pandemic on top of pre-existing anxiety & depression, I let the issue fall by the wayside until a few months ago, when I started to look into using up our credit. After a lot of research, I landed on SE Asia. I contacted them asking to use my travel credit to book two back-to-back tours to Vietnam & Cambodia; and, as SE Asia itself is considerably less expensive than the Galapagos -- both tours combined would cost around half of the outstanding credit that we have -- I requested that G Adventures also arrange our flights, and inquired about extending our vacation pre & post tour, all of which are services that G Adventures readily advertises on their website. I was told in no uncertain terms that my travel credit could only be applied to the tours themselves. When I asked to speak to a manager, it took several weeks to receive a curt, generic-sounding email (from a "Sales Champ") that dismissed my concerns with a single line. I again asked about extending the credit, and was told no. ETA: Apparently public shaming on the Internet did what 2 years of emails & phone calls couldn't. Within 24h of posting this review, I was contacted by an actual manager, who after apologizing for my experience said that she was going to process a full refund. While I am glad to finally have this issue resolved, I still feel that the experience as a whole has irreparably damaged my trust in the company, and I am going to leave this 1* review here in the hopes that it will help others. read more

Do NOT book with them. Worst traveling experience has been made by G adventure - save your money, go somewhere else. When things go wrong on their end, they will ignore you and offer no solution. Currently on an *upgraded* tour in Costa Rica, yet some of the hotel has NO shampoo, NO elevator(uphill +3rd floor), NO hot water, NO cleaning service, NO bedding sheets, NO toilet paper, NO TV service. One of the hotels didn't even offer a working shower, what?! Half of the place doesn't offer AC nor heating. I have stayed at better hostels than what they have to offer as "upgraded hotels". Can someone explain to me how this is upgraded? Called the office, and all they can do is "please fill out this survey". This is absolutely horrible. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this is beyond terrible. Still can't believe this is happening. read more

After my first and last experience, I will never use this company again. From what I have read, many people were of the same mind. I was kicked off the tour, along with 4 others due to Covid. My MD and I suspect it was a false positive, as I had full energy and walked miles per day. By day three I was negative. I had to create my own tour for the last 11 days, and had more fun than with GAdventures. They don't care about the person, only the money they can get from them. Too many days on our own, and way too expensive for what you get. read more

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I spent two weeks, 26 hours on hold, 11 unanswered emails, 5 unreturned call backs and 4 repeat conversations only to spend $800-$1500 more than necessary to book a flight through G-Adventures. Save yourself time, money and aggrivation - book with another company!! MY STORY: I am a seasoned traveller, have gone on several tour-booked vacations, and try to be an understanding, patient person. But, being as generous as I can under the circumstances coming out of the pandemic (workforce issues, lots of travel restriction uncertainty, changes in flights, etc.), I can only say it was the worst experience with a travel company I have had to-date. About a month ago, I booked a National Geographic trip to Rwanda that was handeled through G-Advetnures. The initial booking of the tour went smoothly. I was able to reach a Global Coordinator (customer service rep) quickly, they took my deposit and sent me a confirmation within 24 hours. A couple days later I contacted them to book my airfare. The Rwanda tour was part of a planned month-long visit to Africa so I was looking to book a multi-city set of flights. Again, the initial booking was okay. It took about two days to get the flight itinerary from G-Adventures, and another day to get someone on the phone who could take my credit card information and finalize the booking. A few days after booking my airfare, I had a personal issue arise and needed to cut my trip in half - I needed to cancel the Rwanda tour, and reduce my flights to an in-and out of the same location. It took me over two weeks to make the changes. After waiting over 2 hours on hold one evening, I called at 0400 the next morning and got hold of a representative. Cancelling the tour was no problem. Changing my flights took two weeks, 26 hours on hold, 11 unanswered emails, 5 unreturned call backs, and four conversations asking the reps to do the exact same thing each time. I had to find a local travel agent to help me deal with G-Adventures (at my own additional expense!). When I finally got my final booking... it was $800 over what the airline was charging for the same seat at that time, and $1500 more than what I would have spent had I just booked the flight myself from the beginning. G-Adventures is a large company that had a good reutation. From my experience, and other reviews, I think they have really struggled to come back to their previous standards after the pandemic. I will not be using them again, and recommend others consider going elsewhere for your travel. read more
Disclaimer: this review is based on my expectation and my preferences for a trip. Different people are looking for different things for a trip. I did not enjoy the trip does not mean you will not enjoy it. I traveled with G Adventures with the Panama Experience trip a couple of years back. I got mixed feelings for this trip. The view was nice and the activities we did were interesting. However, I don't think the trip was for everyone, and it is probably not for me. If I got to choose again, I probably would not choose the same trip. I choose the Panama experience mainly because it was on sale and there were direct flights from Toronto to both starting and ending city. The trip was "Yolo" style and it got age limit up to 39 years old. So I was expecting a young group. However, the group was "whitish". All the people in the group are from either Canada or Europe. And it was pretty young, mostly 20s. I was expecting a lot of physical and outdoor activity. However, the group went to clubbing or drinking every night. I did not like clubbing nor drinking, so I did not join the group most of the nights. One group member got angry at me because I did not join them. Then the next morning, they all got up super late, so the day started pretty late. The trip felt like a College trip. There were some local activities; however, it mostly drinking, smoking stuff (after all, the trip was in Central America), clubbing, and of course sex / short-term romance between group members. If this was looking for, you probably enjoy this trip. I did not feel I fit in for the 14 days trip, just like back in college. Maybe I signed up on a wrong trip. I should sign up to a more hiking and biking related trip. I still did swimming, biking, and hiking on my own. However, I still need to follow the group around. There was some drama happened between girls during the trip, just like a college trip. Also, I choose G Adventures because of the local experience. However, I don't think the experience was local enough. We still went to tourist restaurants for dinner. The guide was nice. He was trying to take care of everyone, even the outsider like me. However, I think I would be better off backpacking or do an all-inclusive resort. read more

I was on the West Canadian Rockie Tour and despite the beautiful nature there the tour was absolutely disappointing. The guide was completely unprepared, more like a driver to get you from A to B, gave no insights about locations, nature, locals, etc. Horrible time management even managed to miss the ferry because he got lost. Lost half of our day at Vancouver Island because of that. Equipment for the camping trip was unacceptable. Three chairs broke during the first days, half of the tents were leaking and only half of the stove was working. Did only 75% of what the itinerary promised. 2-3 nights more would have been amazing to have more time to enjoy the nature and your group experience. Please think carefully about booking this or another trip with GAdventures. read more

Would not sail again with g adventures.... Air conditioned ship was broken for 4 of the 6 days of the trip. Freezer never worked. refrigerator only worked once generator was fixed, which took 4 days to get resolved. Caused food spoilage. The lighting on the back of boat, that is used for eating at night with group was broken the whole time. A flashlight was used in its place. Boat itself wasn't clean. One of the two pillows had black mold spots, and the room was cleaned as well as a dirty hostel. So no large pieces of trash but laundry wasn't fresh and nor was any surfaces wiped down before arrival. Captain(Erwin de Wijs) was inexperienced. Was only his second tour in the BVIs, per his own words. Was more concerned with how he wanted to vacation vs what the local captain was telling him. There was never any discussion with what the group wanted, only that he(the captain) was new in the area and wanted to see some of the spots he hadn't seen last week. This also meant that he left the boat with customers every time, and we always had to wait for him to get fuel, water or other services were completed. He is the captain not a customer, having to wait on him for routine items is unacceptable. Not saying he couldn't come off boat but the basics of his job should be completed before he starts drinking or participates in activities. As for the food kitty, again it was what captain wanted. There was only a brief meeting on allergies, but after that he spent the whole kitty on what he wanted to eat. While in fact some of the items were well used, others completely not, and only eaten by him. Another strange note was the Captain himself was on a budget, so in-turn that meant we were as well. On more than one occasion he told, not asked us, that he was going to cook. Pasta... Basic pasta.... I didn't spend thousands of dollars to come eat basic vegetarian pasta. No one on boat ever had an issues or requested we not eat out or go to shore. But we were forced once again by him to partake on how he wanted to travel. This included comments like... once the generator was up and running after one night, reminder it wasn't working for 4 days... and I quote "whoa we used a lot of diesel last night, we need to be more sparingly." This is absolutely crazy. Not only did the generator not work for the first 4 days, I'm fully aware that we have already paid for this. And while technically the AC was running after 4 days of overwhelming heat, it couldn't bring the down ambient temperature of the boat more than 1 to 2 degrees. So AC never worked on the trip even though on your website it specifically says AC in each cabin. If there wasn't going to be AC we wouldn't have ever booked. A true captain could have been more dynamic, instead of smelling diesel for hours while they fix the boat, why couldn't we have a meal on shore, do something else on one of the islands, etc...? Or ask us what we wanted or how we wanted travel. Note we smelled diesel for hours on two separate nights/occasions. I would like to note that Damien Yquel the captain that ya'll had to hire since Erwin's paper work wasn't complaint with BVIs, was the only thing that kept us on the ship. Very nice person, was the only person ever asking any of the customers, how they were doing or if they needed anything. read more

I've done two trips with gadventures, my first was Cuba and second was China. My Cuba experience was better than China. Overall the prices and other travellers are my positives, otherwise I wouldn't recommend them. You get what you pay for! You get some pretty crappy shared accommodations. On my China trip, about eight of us shared a tea room in a hostel with a door that didn't lock. The bathroom was disgusting. Another hostel on the same trip had bunk beds with nose bleed stains on the pillow. You get squished into six bunk overnight trains. On the same China trip, the guide seemed to promote KFC or Subway for places to eat instead of more cultural restaurants. Ultimately if you want a better experience you need to fork over more money to a different tour group. What I did like was that I enjoyed my time with the other people on the tour, you make new friends and have people to share the experience with. After my first tour, they told us we would get 5% off our next trip if we submitted a review to them. I did that and when it came time to booking my second trip they wouldn't honour the discount stating that the trip was already on sale... even when enquiring about it before booking the trip. I don't take anything for granted and made the best of any situation or experience. As long as you're willing to be flexible and go with the flow, you'll still have a great time. If money and time was not a factor, I would choose a different travel group. read more

I've wanted to go to Peru and see Machu Picchu for quite some time. I didn't want to go by myself, so I decided to book a trip to go along with a tour group. There are so many options for tours in South America that I was initially very overwhelmed. After researching a bunch of companies that offered tours, I chose to go with G Adventures because of one thing.... their website (I know, that's not very logical). G Adventures offers a variety of different tour types. They have classic tours, active tours, family tours, volunteer tours, and a few other types. Each tour has a different level of service (basic, standard, comfort, and superior). Each tour also has a physical rating. The ratings go from 1 to 5 with 5 being the most active and physically demanding. Some tours have guaranteed departure dates while others need a certain amount of people before they can be confirmed. What about food? Some tours include all food, while others include no food. The tour I chose did not include meals. On the tour description, there is an estimated cost displayed for tours that do not provide meals. Information abut the types of overnight accommodations and types of transportation are also given on the tour descriptions (along with a detailed itinerary). I decided on the "Machu Picchu Adventure" tour. After purchasing online, I was put in contact with a G Adventures employee (they are called Chief Experience Officers or CEOs) through email. This was to confirm payment and get information required for the trip (passport info, medical, trip insurance, contact info, etc). It took about 4 days to completely confirm the trip. I had no problems with the booking process and the CEO was available by phone for a few random questions I had. If you're traveling alone, then you will share a room with another person. If you would rather stay alone, there are "My Own Room" options on some tours that allow you to have you your own room. I got lucky since a few other people on the tour booked their own room, so I also got to have my own room. Thanks guys! Upon arriving at your destination city, you are on your own to make it to your departing hotel, unless you purchase an airport transfer beforehand. For the "Machu Picchu Adventure" tour, the first day of the tour only consisted of a group meal and introduction. My flight got in very late so I missed the introduction, but there was information posted in the hotel lobby about the schedule for the morning. Everything at the hotel was already set, so I just had to give my name and picture ID to the front desk, and was given my room. Similarly, for the flight we had in the morning, I just had to show my passport to receive my boarding pass. International flights are not included in the price, but flights during the tour are included. Beyond having all transportation and lodging taken care of by G Adventures, the other important thing was the tour guide. There is no way to know who your guide will be or if they will be an awful (or good) guide. I think our group had the perfect tour guide. Knowledgeable about everything and one of the nicest people I've ever met. I've read some people's experiences with tours and many say that their tour guide were awful. I guess I got lucky because an awful guide would have ruined the trip. The different tours all have estimated tour group sizes. The average size is 10 people, but some tours can have as many as 15+ people. My tour group was 10 people, with ages in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. There was only one minor annoyance with the tour. On arrival back to Lima, our driver for the airport to hotel transfer took us to the wrong hotel. By the time we realized we were at the wrong hotel, the driver was no where to be found. The hotel front desk staff helped us to contact G Adventures, and we eventually were transferred to the correct hotel. If you are going to book a tour, make sure you carefully read the itinerary. The first and last day seem to consist of nothing so the trip may not be as long as you think it is. Also, some trips look like they involve lots of all day traveling, so there may be some wasted days counted in the total number of days. Beyond that, I'd recommend G Adventures, but getting a good guide may be all about luck. read more
To be honest, I was VERY VERY hesitant about this company since the reviews were not so great. The Peruvian Inca Trail is once in a life-time experience, and we put our trust in G-Adventures and were not disappointed! It is pure luck in my opinion when you go on a tour with a group. You cross your fingers you'll be compatible with the tour guide(s) and fellow folks in your group. We first learned about G-Adventures at a Marathon Expo, and decided to give it a try. We booked our Peru trip (Inca Trail) in mid-August, and went on the trip mid-November. Rambo (aka Yenrri Cabrera Chacon) was our lead Tour Guide. His first impression was eh, but as you get to know him, he's such a fun, caring, and interesting guide. Edison Candia Romero, our secondary guide, was so caring and fantastic! Edison was a good compliment to Rambo. Our group (11 total) was fantastic! They were from all over the world and everyone's different personality made the trip memorable. We had 21 amazing porters, 1 sous chef, and 1 chef. They are truly inspiring and they make my job look too easy. They do this crazy trail 5 days a week with 2 days off. They set up camp, cook, and tear down camp and ran to the next site before we even get there--how is that POSSIBLE???!!!! read more

We booked for Kenya and Tanzania for August 1, 2021. G adventures cancelled the tour on June 23, about 35 days to the trip, saying they are not travelling to Kenya/Tanzania until September 2021. But in their web site and in tour rader they are advertising tours for Africa. To top this off, they are not even refunding my deposit. They did the same to someone called Henri, who wrote a review in tour rader. Our flights are booked, holidays time off booked, and now we are left stranded read more
I've been on 3 gap, it's still gap right?, tours. Peru, Costa Rica, and Nepal. These tours aren't really for the luxury traveler, and if this is what you want, this ISN'T for you. The word adventure should give that away. The accommodations aren't always the best, but if you're not traveling with someone pampered or with children they're usually just fine. The only time that we had an issue with the hotel was in Kathmandu, Nepal and this was primarily because I had my 10 yr old with me. I spoke to the guide and since we were the only persons on the tour and I was willing to change hotels at my own expense, we worked it out. Otherwise most all were just fine. The price is right. Usually the cost of the tours are excellent, mind you that they don't include airfare, and gratuity. Gap (?) required trip and medical insurance with proof to be purchased for each person, I believe this to be a great idea. The guides are absolutely fantastic. On every one of my trips he/she was excellent, well informed and knowledgeable about the areas. Gap in general seem to pride themselves on service before, during and after the tour, OK, not so much after, but I've always been very happy with the entire experience. It'll be some time before we can go with gap again, my girls are only 2 and the minimum age is 10, but when that time comes I hope to be able to travel with them again. read more

I had several trips booked with G Adventures and the trips were cancelled due to the pandemic. G Adventures has something called "Life time deposit" they offer for the trips you cancel. In my opinion for the situations like the covid-19 pandemic, G adventures should offer "REFUNDS" for those who had to cancel and don't have plans to travel. They constantly refuse to consider that reasonable option, touting their "Life Time Deposit " policy unlike other travel companies that have been flexible due to the pandemic. This greatly irks me and I'll never ever use G Adventures in future as their attitude seems dishonest and obstinate. read more

I've previously traveled with G on 5 trips, plus sent my parents on a trip through them. With that in mind, I booked a trip in July that leaves in December, but the country is not yet even open to Americans so I cancelled it today. I was told that the refund will take at least 6 months! They do not have the money to refund customers and that is concerning and actually illegal in most jurisdictions. I will never book with them again and I would encourage you not to as well. I seriously doubt they will even be I'm business 6 months from now. read more

I feel that I should complain about my (first and LAST!) experience with G Adventures. Robbery at the hotel. The report has been submitted by local CEO.Not a single apology or compensation was given by G Adventures. No one ever contacted me with apologies for the experience and stolen watch , reported by CEO to G Adventures and hotel. I feel that it is hotel fault and G Adventures. We were scared and could NOT sleep in the same room, because locks were broken. The Hotel window lock was broken and opened. No security guard was present on site at any time or anyone at the reception. The thieves just walked in while the whole group was sitting by the pool , 1 minute walk from the room where we got robbed. Also the key for the safe did not match and we could not use it. Overall this is the only hotel on the whole trip , which had security safe. It is not acceptable. Other countries I traveled to had PIN code safe free in every hotel. The worst part is that after my complaint and multiple emails to G Adventures "supervisor" refused to further talk to me on the issue. G Adventures did NOT apologize to me in writing for the experience , lack of acknowledgement of the issue, no compensation and finally very rude and not acceptable answer from "supervisor" Sam Beszelzen , who refused to communicate with me and refused to provide management contact information to escalate (he should be forbidden to do that). The complaint was also submitted to TICO, but it turned out to be useless organization with no help or solution. Stay away from G Adventutes as they do not care about their customers. Attached is the proof screenshot of their last email. read more

Great hike in beautiful Alps, awesome group and totally disastrous guide. G Adventure used to be a reputable company, not anymore! I wish I planned that trip myself, it's actually easy to do, and would be twice as cheap.. The guide was completely incompetent: he's never done this hike and never worked with the big group. Constantly was killing the vibe by scolding people for walking too fast or too slow. Has very limited English skills and zero French, couldn't give any information about places we visited. Wasn't even prepared for the hike, didn't have direction prepared and walked the wrong way for 2K once until people from the group noticed it. Had zero knowledge about accommodation, and what to expect in each place. Didn't care much about the people needs: could jump in lift chair before the group, or come to the refuge and start drinking beer before taking care of accommodation. Was constantly making inappropriate jokes of sexual content. Do yourself a favor and book it with some other company.. Or plan it yourself. read more

We booked this tour of Portugal through an online agent, Tourradar. The both companies are horrible. You never get to communicate with G Adventures, rather only through Tourradar, the agent. They are both deceptive in their business. We went to Portugal in October 2019. Never again with this tour company. They give you very minimal information about what they are giving you. When I asked them what hotels we would be staying at, they claimed they didn't know until several weeks before the tour. That's a big lie. They are not going to wait several weeks before the tour to start booking a hotel for many people. They make you pay in full before you find out what kind of hotel you will get. And of course, the hotels were not great. When I finally found out what hotels they were, I looked them up on travels sites and saw all 3 were listed as 3 star hotels, but I can tell you, two out of the 3 were only 2 1/2 stars at best. They could give you a one star hotel and you would be able to do anything about it. They've already got your money. Next - the surprise after you pay for your tour. They send you an email asking for all of your personal information, and I see they are asking for my travel insurance information. I see this and say to myself, I don't have travel insurance, and I'm not paying for it. So ignored that request. Then they send me an email stating that I didn't fill out the travel insurance information. I emailed them back telling them I'm not getting travel insurance. They email me back telling me that it is mandatory, and that it is in my emailed contract, and then they send me the part that says so. Well this contract that they send you, is your typical 10 page fine print contract, which most people are not going to read, and they know that. So now, after they are paid in full, you find out there is an additional charge for travel insurance. I did some online research and found out that there are only 3 countries in the world that require travel insurance, and the country we are going to is not one of them. I send this information to them, and their reply was that they make it mandatory, and if I don't buy a policy, they will not send me my final travel documents ! Then they recommend a company with a link to it. After seeing a price of about $150 for one week, I checked out other companies, and found many that were about 1/3 of the cost for the same coverage. For sure, they are making money off the travel insurance as well ! That's why they make it mandatory, hoping you will click on their link to their company, so they can get a kickback on it ! They hold back on the hotel information and your travel documents until you are paid in full with the travel insurance information. Now for the rip off tours. When you book with a tour group you assume that you will on a tour, for at least most of the day, so your sites are planned, and you don't get lost. Not with this company. It wasn't until the tour day started that we found out that our tour guide was only giving us about a 2 hour walking tour in the morning in each city, and that was it ! We were told that the rest of our day was on our own ! This is not what we expected from a tour. Now to fill the day, we had to consult a travel book, a map from the hotel, and asking everyone in the street for directions. Most of the places to go required us to take either buses, trains or a taxi. Additional transportation costs. And in a foreign country, even with a map, it's so easy to get totally lost. We got lost many times. There's nothing worse than getting lost in a strange country that speaks a foreign language. And what was our tour guide doing for the rest of the day after the 2 hour tour ? We don't know, but it wasn't showing us around. We could have saved a lot of money booking much better hotels, picking their location, and hiring a local guide that would spend the day with us. This company is a rip off joke. When we went from one of the hotels to another hotel in another city, we had to take public transportation - a train, and the train station was about a 7 minute walk. Now if you don't think 7 minute walk is so bad, try wheeling your luggage on streets that are on steep hills, with cobblestone roads in the rain ! You can damage the wheels on your luggage on that kind of ground. And if you don't have wheeled luggage ? Guess what ? You will be carrying your stuff a long way, to and from the train stations. My wife couldn't drag her one piece of luggage with wheels on that ground, and she gave up. Now we had to pay $7.00 for a taxi to take us to the train station, and another $8 from the train station to the hotel ! This is not the way you treat people on vacation that are spending thousands of dollars. We should have been taken by a private bus. If hiring a private bus increases the cost of the tour, then raise the price, but don't subject people to this kind of travel. read more
I have travelled with G Adventures time and time again over the past 14 years. Costa Rica, Colombia, Patagonia, and the Galápagos Islands just to name a few of the 10+ destinations I've visited with them. On every tour I've done - the CEO (guide) has been organized, incredibly knowledgeable, and tries to take you to the main attractions, while also to the lesser known areas that would be missed by someone just searching for the most well known attractions. They want you to learn about the culture, try new things, and 'Embrace the Bizarre' as they say. Travel - especially international travel- is a product where a company needs to be able to adapt to a constantly changing industry. The pandemic, global unrest, natural disasters and many other things can come up resulting in adjustment to operations. The local laws on how things work may be different in the part of the world you're visiting than what you're used to. There could be a road block of cows that you have to wait for that slows things down, or a mudslide which results in a longer drive time than anticipated. Really, anything can happen. Reading some of the negative feedback here is disappointing and often seems to come from a place where there may be a lack of understanding. For complaints about the pricing - yes, it's can sometimes be more expensive if you were to do it yourself depending on the destination. Taking a guided small group tour means that you don't have to worry about a language barrier, or finding out about local customs the hard way. There is a 24/7 help line available to you if you run into any problems - which obviously you don't get if you're travelling independently. You get to meet new people from all over the world who usually have similar interests as your. It makes everything easier so you can have a stress-free holiday, and actually enjoy the destination you've come to see! If you want the comforts of home, stay home. You can't justify comparing the hotel options to those in North America to those in rural parts of developing countries. On top of everything, G Adventures tries to give back and support the communities they visit. If you want an authentic experience, competitive price, and to actually learn about a new place, then consider G Adventures for your next holiday! read more

We just completed the September Western Balkans Adventures tour with G Adventure. The locations were fantastic--so different and all very exotic and beautiful. Great locations and a great group. However, the trip was billed as a Comfort Trip so you do pay more for upgrades in hotels and van transportation. We were somewhat disappointed from the beginning with the overall trip and it really wasn't much different from their regular trips. The pace was very irregular--very fast to a complete standstill and most of the vans were cramped and seating was uncomfortable, These were issues we were dealing with just fine and they were not ruining the trip. The guide was the real problem however. He was outwardly very charming, but if anything happened that he didn't like, beware--and he seemed not to like me! This guide wanted everything to go perfectly (which is not a negative), but if he felt that you weren't perfectly happy he took this very personally and became very moody. He reacted with some very immature behavior and this really affected the whole trip negatively. His knowledge of the locations was very limited so you learned early to find things on your own. He also didn't seem to understand the G Adventure policy of the choice to go your own way. We chose to eat alone a couple of times at the beginning and he took this as our way of being negative--I know this because he told us we were "negative and critical". I know we weren't and have never been. This guide actually has potential but really needs to work on his overall negative and immature reactions when things don't seem to go his way. I did get in touch with G Adventure customer service and they called back quickly and listened to all my hurt feelings and problems. They gave us a small discount on our next G Adventure trip (there won't be one!!!) and then said, "we're sorry for what you perceived to be controlling and condescending behavior from your guide". Well, I didn't "perceive" anything--it was, in reality, a bad experience. read more

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER!!!! They screwed me so bad you wont believe. Trip was supposed to be about 3 weeks long to Guatemala, Honduras Nicaragua and Costa Rica. On the third day of the trip our tour guide says "he doesn't want to use the bus" and we should all pitch $15 for a private bus. It was an 8 hour drive and after 4 hours we stopped to eat. Out of 2 tour guides and a bus driver no one thought it was a good idea to watch the bus. My passport, all my money my camera.. etc EVERYTHING was stollen. Everyones things were on that bus!!!!!! The tour guides aunt magically appeared and drove me to police station. I was left alone in Honduras (only the murder capital of the world) for OVER A MONTH with NO MONEY!! G adventures DID NOT COMPENSATE ME and in addition they did not even return my money (even though I was robbed on the 3rd day of the trip). I was almost killed and raped multiple times and this company that claims they care so much about the world did nothing! The customer service just kept saying its not their responsibility and kept sending me stupid quotes from their contract. HOWEVER... seeing as I was there for over a month I had a lot of time. I read the entire fine print agreement. It says that G adventures is not responsible for lost of stollen articles IF IT IS NOT UNDER THE CONTROL OF G ADVENTURES. THAT BUS WAS under control of G adventures... they should have watched it!!! In addition, you want to know the funny part? Since my "incident" they changed their terms and agreement. READ IT BEFORE YOU BOOK because this company won't do anything for you! PLEASE DO. NOT. TRAVEL. WITH. THEM!! I wont sleep until everyone knows! Anyone considering travelling with them feel free to direct message me for more details!! PLEASE DO NOT PAY THEM AND GIVE THIS HORRIBLE CORPORATION THAT ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY MORE MONEY!!!! If anyone knows any popular review websites please send me links. Just want to spread the word read more

Thanks for the positive reviews here. There are also a few negative ones, and those are concerning to us. By-way-of-introduction, my name is Lyndon File, and I am the manager of Customer Satisfaction with G Adventures. Thanks for writing, and giving us the chance to make this right. It will allow us to get better at what we do and that is positive energy that is created by something like this. As a company we really appreciate the opportunity. Our lead with service culture will be all over this, and there will be a lot of people in our organization who will learn because you gave us the opportunity, and that excites me. We pride ourselves on having the best possible customer experience with every interaction with our company - and that was not for everyone on this thread. I invite you to contact us directly to discuss these concerns and I assure you we will make it right. customerservice@gadventures.com or 416 260 0999. read more

Sigh, I read a lot of reviews about this company and hesitated. I was particularly interested in the YOLO trips and emailed a few times asking about a few departures. I received the WORST customer service ever. I was willing to give this company a shot but after my initial experience it really tells a lot about the company. If they can't even treat you decently before you book then how are the trips managed? I don't want to take the risk and it appears the reviews Ive read are spot on. Im not spending over $1,000 per person to experience a company that doesn't seem to want bookings in the first place. So, I moved on to Intrepid and Explore Worldwide! Both have been amazing and responsive to all my questions. I ended up booking an Eastern Europe tour with Intrepid and feel very comfortable and confident that they will provide an excellent tour. G Adventures missed out on a huge booking! read more

RUN From these guys... G Adventures refuses to give refunds for trips cancelled due to Covid. They are keeping our money as a loans to float their business....want to offer a travel credit of unknown amount in the future. It's ridiculous. Travel insurance bought through them didn't matter. Wish I never chose them....I will never travel with them again. Screwing customers is what they are best at. I won't even talk about how arrogant the NZ trip CEO was...was bristly at best. As for Cust. Svc - don't even bother..slow, uncaring, good luck getting home on your own. read more

Our tour was OK. Our tour guide was wonderful. But you cannot contact them. They are hopelessly understaffed. Every 5 minutes of wait they disconnect you (probably to get better statistics). I wanted to leave a great review for our guide, but nobody gave us our unique ID number (???). I called to get it and could not talk with anybody. Pretty sketchy outfit. I bought thous tour through National Geographic without knowing they are not involved at all. Would not travel with them ever again. read more

I went on the 3 week Latina America trip several years ago. Before one of the tour guides sexually assaulted me and demanded that I marry him so he can move to Canada... he had his friends rob me at near gun point - they took all my money and my passport. I was then abandoned in Honduras for over a month. Stranded with no money and no travel documents. Tried to sue and they even changed their fine print right after :) read more

Rude driver with the Nevada license plate 65240 A at Yellowstone National Park on 09/02/2019 was blocking traffic and playing with her phone with her coworker while people were trying to get out of a parking lot. When asked to move she simply made a grimace and told people they cannot park there like she owned the park! read more
