We recently did the Presqu'ile National Park & Old Mill Alpacas day trip. We had lots of fun despite the iffy weather. Our tour guide Charmaine is very organized & friendly. It was so nice that everything was laid out clearly. We knew how much time we had for each activity. Our first stop was to the national park. We were getting intermittent rain alternating with sunshine so it was pretty wet. Also the park is on marshlands so even more wet than normal land! lol. We got dropped off by one of the board walking trails. It's very scenic & beautiful despite the rain. The sun came out at times. So nice to get some fresh air & there were birds, frogs, fish all around. Our next stop was at the Presqu'ile lighthouse, beach & visitor center (all near each other). The beach is small & rocky but it was so nice to be near the water. After the lighthouse we got to wander around the small visitor center. It has two single washrooms, a small history room, & a small gift shop. Next was our lunch stop at the Big Apple. There are around 4 food trucks outside the main building. There's a petting zoo also. Inside the main building there are washrooms, a candy store, baked goods, souvenirs, a burger joint & a bar. I liked the big apple but it would be hard to get there without a car. I liked that we got to pay for our own lunch because that also meant we could get whatever we want. Sometimes the day trips include lunch & has a limited menu especially for people with food intolerances. After lunch we got to go to Old Mill Alpacas. Here we got to feed the alpacas, and walk the alpacas. The owner of the farm also did a quick talk about alpacas. It was very interesting! Because of the rain it was muddy of course so we got dirty but I didn't mind as I was prepared with my waterproof boots. Also short trips informed us of weather conditions in an email before the day trip. After the alpacas we had a 30 mins break for dinner at a highway enroute rest stop. Too bad these enroute places don't have better food options. Anyway short trips has no control over that. Our drop off was on time. Overall we really enjoyed our tour with short trips. We would go on another tour with them for sure. Since we don't drive or have a car this is a really nice way to see parts in Ontario we wouldn't normally be able to see. read more

I went on a day trip to Grand Bend Beach with this group. Their website is very detailed about the pick up locations and schedule for the day. They were also quick to respond to my emailed query. The host on the bus was friendly and organized. I liked that they provided a bottle of water at each seat on the bus. We were allowed to store beach umbrellas and folding chairs in the luggage bays of the tour bus. The only issue was that we arrived 30 minutes late due to traffic and were told to be back at the bus 15 minutes earlier than the website indicated. I know it wasn't their fault that traffic was bad but they should have extended our time at the beach or at least stuck to the original end time. read more

Took the two-day bird watching trip in May 2025. The bus was clean and comfortable. We stayed at Caesar's Hotel & Casino which was a beautiful property with clean, lovely rooms. The casino was well marked and not very busy! The birding parks, guides and tours were excellent, although, early morning birding would have been more successful. We did see many species even though we were there late in the afternoon. The only negative I have is the pit stops on the 401. The food options were poor quality fast food for each stop at the OnRoute travel stops. The food options at the casino were about the same and lunch was at a mall food court with similar poor quality fast food options. I would definitely recommend Shorttrips.ca. This was my very first time booking with ShortTrips. It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to a nice day out. The bus was on time but there were crumbs all over the seat that I was assigned, as though the bus had not been cleaned prior to departure. Not a great first impression. There were no seat trays and we were provided with one bottle of water only. We were told that if we wanted more, we could fill it up ourselves at a top. There were no snacks. A safety DVD was played in the audiovisual equipment. Nothing more was offered on the 6-hour drive. A movie would have been nice. The equipment was there! Instead, the guide barked out all of the "can't do" rules, gave a short description of the castle and then nothing. There was no promotion of future trips, no anecdotes of past trips or anything else that might be slightly entertaining. Just rules. We were told that there would be an hour and 15 minutes lunch stop at the Big Apple. I have severe dietary restrictions so made a sandwich to bring with me. We were told that we could bring the food on the bus to eat as long as it wasn't ice cream. I got off the bus to buy a coffee but when I returned the bus was locked and there was no sign of anyone to unlock it. I waited the hour for someone to unlock the bus and then ate my sandwich while we were on route. We arrived at Rockport late, boarded the boat and made our way to the castle. The boat crew were very friendly and entertaining. They were actually quite good! They offered information about the various islands and interesting stories about particular cottages and homes. Upon arriving at Heart Island, we passed through customs and then were told when to meet back at the boat. We were not provided with an audio guide, a map of the island, or any other points of interest. Just simply told to go off on our own and meet back at the boat by 4:45 p.m. Needless to say, I did not get the full benefit of the experience. I had so many questions with no one there to answer. I would not call this a tour. In hindsight, I think it would have been better to drive myself to Rockport and park. Parking is free for those taking the Rockport ferry to the island. Admission to Boldt Castle is only $16. I would then rent a headset so I would know what I was looking at and not miss some of the features which I did not know I was missing until after I was back on the bus. The Rockport Thousand Island tour was great. The island itself was beautiful and there is a brochure inside the castle that you can pick up which gives you an idea of the layout, but it doesn't really give you much information about things that matter and the the signage is not the best. I was very disappointed with this tour company. I don't think I will be booking with them again. Perhaps it was just an off day for them, but I was not impressed. read more

Yesterday 55 people traveled to the US border to experience a shopping trip to three different locations in Buffalo, NY for the day. See itinerary below. ITINERARY Here is the itinerary of our tour. All times are approximate. 11:30-1:00 PM At Walmart (1540 Military Rd, Niagara Falls, NY) 1:30-4:15 PM At The Boulevard Consumer Square Plaza (1575 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst NY). Target, Marshalls, Trader Joe's and more. This is also your lunch stop. Lunch on your own. A number of passengers on previous trips requested the addition of a stop at Burlington's so we have added an optional side trip to Amherst Commons Shopping Mall, approximately a 5 min drive away from Target. This plaza has Burlington's and DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse. This is an optional side trip for those who are interested and we will be at this plaza for 1 hour from 1:45 to 2:45 PM and then we will bring you back to Boulevard Consumer Square for Target, Marshall's etc. Please note that if you do this side trip, you will only have about 1hr 15min of shopping time left at the Target plaza. 4:30-5:45 PM Wegman's (675 Alberta Dr, Amherst NY) grocery shopping. Also your early dinner stop in the Wegman's Cafe. 8:30-9:25 PM Drop offs. Charmaine, our tour guide was exceptional as she was very well organized and experienced. We arrived at the border at 10:00 am. The female bus driver went inside the border office first. Charmaine then informed us that the bus driver was not allowed to enter the US. Charmaine assured us that the trip would continue with taxicabs for all of us to go to the first stop, Walmart. This would all be paid by the company. We had to walk a great distance to an area away from the Customs building. Furthermore, she informed us that they were working on getting a bus to pick us up at Walmart to go to the next stop. That never happened. Instead Charmaine ordered more taxicabs for us to go to the outlets which was not on the itinerary. We had to carry our heavy bags with us as we walked through the outlet mall which did not allow us ample time to shop (1 hour) and made it difficult to shop. Following this location, we were informed that a bus driver was found in Canada to pick us up to take us to our last stop, Wegmans. He arrived at 4:45 pm but by the time we loaded our bags onto the bus, we arrived at Wegmans at 5:30 pm. We had one hour to shop, eat dinner and fill out our customs declarations, hardly enough time for all of that. We had to catch the bus @6:30 pm to drive to the border. All of us were whisked through customs without having to pay duty for our purchases. We made it back to the Mississauga stop at 8:30 pm (the scheduled time). Charmaine informed us that we would be getting a complete refund of $119 for the bungled trip. This was my first and last time traveling with this company. A simple criminal record check should always be a requirement for any Canadian traveling to the US as a bus driver. I'm a senior with severe arthritis in my knees and back. These changes to the trip involved much more walking. The majority of the people had issues with walking. In addition, we didn't have time to go to Trader Joe's which was the main reason I booked this trip. Most of us wanted to go to that store as they have many dairy free and gluten free products for people with dietary restrictions. Overall, I enjoyed the bus ride and met wonderful ladies. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking at bus travel in the future. It was catastrophic! read more

In the past few weeks I joined in 2 day trips with Short Trips Company. Both trips were very well organized, on time and very enjoyable. The itinerary was well though and allowed plenty of time to see everything planed and enjoy some free time as well. recently did the Agawa Canyon Fall colours trip. first I will review the trip itself then the company as a whole. Trip: a lot of sitting. 7 hrs there day 1. 10 hrs on train day 2. 7 hrs home day 3. it's a back breaker for sure. the canyon was lovely and the 90 mins out for a stroll was the best part. packed lunch was perfect. Water Tower Hotel was amazing with pool hot tub and restaurant on site. trip to the Nickle was cool. anyone can do this trip and you don't have to be active in any way. you just need to be able to sit for A LONG TIME. Short Trips Company: always great with wonderful tour leaders and bus drivers taking care of your needs. my only complaint is no more snacks are given out on the bus. a bottle of water is so I'm not sure why snacks are not allowed. it's not a health and safety risk to give out packaged granola bars etc. maybe it's due to cutbacks?? read more

Short Trips is my new "go to" company, to use, for fun, organized, and adventurous travel. My first trip, was with my sister, to Parry Sound's Huckleberry Island. First of all, our coach driver Lisa, was friendly, accommodating, and flexible. Our tour guides name was Toni, and she was highly organized, engaging, knowledgeable and an overall pleasure. We made a stop in Parry Sound, where we were allotted time to grab some lunch, and then we got to visit the gift shop, prior to boarding our boat. The boat trip was controlled, but exhilarating. Once we arrived on the island, both Carter and Archie ensured the safety of the passengers getting off the boat and around some of the more steep areas on the stunning rocks. After the mini tour, we were able to take a dip in the water. We had a great trip through the hole in the wall, and ended up safely back to our doc. Toni, gave us time to look around, and for those who wanted, to grab some ice cream. The Kawartha Ice Cream was delicious and generously served. We boarded our bus, and made one more quick stop for dinner, at an Onroute, and were then brought safely to our drop off spot. Thanks to my wonderful experience, and trust in Short Trips, I have booked four upcoming trips, and am looking so forward to each of them. read more

Went on the 5 day trip to Quebec/Charlevoix with Toni (tour director) and Paul (bus driver). Kudos to both of them for making this a terrific experience! Toni and Paul went the extra yard for us, arranging a few extra stops and drop offs requested during the tour, and Paul's driving is to be commended. The accommodations at Manor du Lac Delage were pleasant and it was nice to be able to spend time enjoying the facilities (perks included) of swimming pools, hot tub, sauna, mini golf (had not played in 20 yrs but it was fun!), canoes and kayaks, set on a beautiful lake. The buffet breakfasts included at the lodge were good, with lots of coffee served on request and the restaurants selected in the tour for lunch were good, with the standout being Le Moulin de Saint Laurant (a converted old stone mill on Ile d'Orleans) that had beautiful decor and an exceptional lunch - yummy!!! Only washout (no pun intended) was the train trip to Baie St. Paul as it was raining that day and the scenery on the train ride was all grey and gloomy. My only negative was the guide for two days. He was not inspiring and I felt that he was not really of use the second day. Thank you Short Trips for an enjoyable and well organized tour! read more

Port Stanley Beach + St. Thomas - we had a a great day stopping in St. Thomas to see The Elevated Park and Jumbo The Elephant Memorial, and on to the beach which was not overly crowded. I spent most of the time looking around the little town. The weather was nice - no rain yay!. Shanelle did a phenomenal job, went over and above to help us with photos, questions, etc...Georges did a great job getting us around to each location and back home safely. Thank you Short Trips for another lovely day out and coming up with new places to discover and see, for some of us the first time. The butter tart festival and Georgian Bay cruise was our first bus tour since the pandemic, so we were rightfully a bit anxious. Sash was a great Tour Director, very nice and approachable and organized. Instructions were clear. Our driver Paul was very competent and the ride was smooth all the way and back. Fallingwater was on my bucket list for a long time. This trip enabled me to get there, in a safe and supported manner. i loved the attention to organizational details ( seat names , orderly care of luggage ) , and specific guidance , shepherding us through border crossing, and pit stops, by Toni. ( a thoughtful, considerate tour guide ) . It was a busy , packed schedule for me . ( i move slowly, now, as a senior ). As the point of the trip was Fallingwater, i would have preferred more time there . The weather was awesome and the grounds beautiful...a leisurely lunch hour after the tour, would have been amazing ! ) ( i would have happily passed on the dinner out for the group , for more time at Fallingwater site ) . Pittsburgh, and the Warhol museum, were a pleasant surprise. Ice cream, and the second FLW house ( Kentuck Knob ) equally interesting and a bonus. The hotel was just fine . ( if i did this trip again , i would pack my own lunches from Walmart, as i am not a big food courts fan ... however...a minor consideration. ) I enjoyed the company . As a former Torontonian , it was interesting to meet so many people from the city, with surprisingly similar backgrounds to mine. Kudos to the bus driver, for navigating windy , hilly highways, especially on a dark rainy evening. Amazing spot on timing, keeping to our schedule! All told, after my first, ever bus trip, in half a century, and first with Shorttrips , i will be looking for more. I've gone on many trips with them, and it's been wonderful every time. Most recently went on a lovely multi-day Quebec City winter tour that included visiting the Ice Hotel (Must see!! So amazing), a dinner at Huron-Wendat reserve, and lunch at a sugar shack (loved rolling up and eating maple toffee on ice). The entire trip was perfect! They are super organized and very responsible to questions/requests. The trip details you see online is exactly what you get - no bait and switch here. And all taxes/tips are included! So you don't have to worry about tipping the driver, the tour guide(s), etc. Basically, no hidden or unexpected costs. Of course, keep in mind that you are traveling with usually a large group of people (a full bus is about 54?), so there will be the inevitable waiting for everyone to gather, set schedules, etc. If you're a free spirit traveler and just want to do your own thing at your own pace, this is not for you. But if you're traveling alone, don't have a car, don't want to drive long distances, or just don't have time/energy to plan a trip, this is an excellent option. Pretty much everything is planned for you, though there's usually some free time built in too. There's also a good diversity of people - on the Quebec trip there were a few parent-child pairs, couples, friends, and single folks. I have been on many trips from shopping weekends to wine tours. I just came back from was the Ottawa weekend 4 day trip in May 2014! Everything he said happen! Did the tour of Ottawa and that was great give a bit of the history and place I may go back to on my own. It would have been nice to stay longer at the tulips area. Then again for the perfect picture it should have gone very early in the morning! It was not a photo group or they would have! I would go back on any of short trips events; infact I have taken my parents and my friends. They loved it, and we all would return with no problems. See you on the next trip! read more

If you're looking for a break, Short Trips is a perfect getaway. I took the one day trip to the lavender and alpaca farms. It was well organized, timely and fun. I met interesting people and was able to do some shopping for unique items while supporting local businesses. I found that break times were enough and did not feel rushed. My only issue would be the uncomfortable seating in the bus. I'm not fussy but these were very uncomfortable. Otherwise, would highly recommend this day trip. Was an interesting trip from someone who frequently drives to and from most destinations. Anna-Maria & Georgis were the perfect tour guides. Oodles of snacks and water throughout the trip were welcomed. My only disappointment from ShortTrips was their last minute substitute on our box lunch it was at the very least the worst thing and surprisingly no one got sick from it. Apart from the some 800 bus tour groups all converging on the canyon the color and sights were spectacular even for a country girl surrounded by forest everyday read more

Went on the Black History tour on July 7, 2018 in the Niagara Region with my 10-year old niece. The tour director was Anna Maria, who is super friendly and lovely. The tour was given by Lezley, a descendant of African-American freedom seekers. She was very informative, well spoken, open to any and all questions, had a great personality. We were driven to a few different spots in the Niagara region where we could get off the bus, hear Lezley speak about the history of those areas, take some pictures, etc. It was amazing to be walking in the same areas as these huge figures in the abolitionist and civil rights movement, and to learn this history that is sadly neglected in school. We had lunch at a restaurant overlooking Niagara Falls. We were all booked to go to one restaurant, but their dishwasher broke, so we were able to be rerouted to a different one with no problem. The food was mediocre, but that's not a big deal. We were able to have some time to check out the falls as well. The tour was very well organized. The bus was on time to pick us up and drop us off (shout out to the bus driver Donna!). Sash sent an email the day before letting us know all the logistics (e.g. weather, pick up times, locations, where to park, AND included the fact that part of the TTC subway would be shut down, so I was able to plan accordingly). The bus was comfy and had a washroom, Anna Maria gave us snacks and water on the bus (one in the morning and afternoon), we also stopped once in the morning and at around 5:30 pm for washroom breaks. My niece had a great time too and I'm glad she was able to learn this history so early in her life (unlike me). This was my first trip with shorttrips.ca and will definitely be coming back for more! read more

Just a short day trip to Bellfountain and the Tai Chi Centre in Caledon. It was as relaxing as it can get for a lazy Sunday trip out of the city. I got picked up about 15 minutes from where I live at 10:30am which is a nice time for a Sunday morning --no crack of dawn departure! The bus was nice and comfy, the tour guides not too intrusive so I got to chat with my friend. They should tell you that you should book together to make sure you sit together as they do assign seats. The tour guide at the Tai Chi centre was not the most understandable nor did he seem to know a lot about the centre but it was beautiful and relaxing. We did do about 45 minutes of Tai Chi and the demonstrators were very helpful in showing the many moves. The grounds especially the big pond and statue were impressive. Bellfountain Conservation area is a place I had wanted to go to for ages and finally got to see the bell in the fountain. Lovely relaxing trip. Highly recommend it! Sash is a wonderful tour organizer and he remembers everyone and makes sure you get to meet others too so you don't feel alone. read more

I have been on a number of shopping trips and this was the best one I have ever had the pleasure of going on. The tour guide Anna-Maria was well-organized and great to travel with. Water and snacks were provided throughout the trip and little things such as providing Ziploc bags for receipts were a nice touch. Trying to provide shopping destinations that appeal to a variety of customers is difficult but there were stops for both the penny pincher as well as those with more expensive tastes. There were stores that we visited that I had not visited before in all my years of shopping...(20+ years of bus trips!)...I would definitely sign up again... read more

A well planned and executed trip to beautiful Cape Cod. Unfortunately a number of rude, disrespectful and boorish people ruined the ideal trip for many. For 4 days they could be heard many rows away talking loudly about personal things, laughing very loudly and constantly, giggling when they were asked to keep it down and being rude in response. For those who are mature enough to know proper etiquette they were a menace. I don't expect Spring Break in Daytona Beach behaviour when travelling with mature adults within the confines of a bus. read more
