There was very little room for error and the Mitchell Tree & Stump Service, Inc. did a fantastic job. I've used them several times before and they never let me down. Eugenio Cruz and his team showed up at 9 a.m. and were finished by 2 p.m., with an hour lunch break in between. They not only took down the 4 trees but also pruned another tree in the backyard, grounded up branch debris, hauled off numerous tree logs, and grinded the stumps into sawdust. I researched multiple companies in Fredericksburg and ended up speaking with 7 of them. 5 different companies came out to give me a quote. Every single one of them said it would take a day maybe more and that we had no space in our yard to work so the fee would be even higher because of this. That is until I spoke with Jason. He beat everyone else's quote and was confident his crew could get it done in half a day. We set up an appointment and everything was ready to go.... and then at the very last minute my neighbor backed out of our agreement! She said she could get the job done cheaper. I assured her I didn't think she'd be able to beat his quote but she assured me she "had a guy" and I was forced to cancel our appointment. It was SO EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!! Jason was very patient and understanding though all the drama. In the end her guys was a total scam... he'd given her an initial quote then came out to do the job and told her it was going to be TWICE as much as BRTE had quoted!!! My neighbor felt really bad about everything and asked me to please call Jason back. Amazingly Jason was still able to fit us in the same day. BRTE did everything they said they did and more. Three guys whipped that tree into shape like it was a piece of cake! I was extremely impressed with how they lowered the huge branches with such precision in such a narrow space. The space every other company said was almost unworkable. I was sure my garden would take a hit but not a single tomato plant was harmed and our shed wasn't even touched! If that was a double cut, it certainly didn't look like it. To make matters worse, they damaged my trashcan enclosure and never mentioned it. I was willing to overlook it... until I received an email saying they were coming back to mow again--for $65--without my approval or request. I never agreed to recurring service, and I find it incredibly unprofessional to assume permission like that. We initially called Scott and asked…read morefor an estimate because we wanted to make sure an area above a future generator install site was clear of dangerous branches. While he was here giving an estimate, we asked for several separate estimates (due to a need to break up costs for us) for taking down dangerous trees and for removing twenty years of tree limb debris. We have a back yard that is an acre of basically woods, but we need to begin keeping it clear to cut down on tick, mosquito, termite, snake and rodent habitat. We are getting older, and managing leaves has become impossible with all the tree limbs and branches that come down each year. The spouse will not agree to cut down a lot of the trees, so we needed to get some clean up done. Scott was on time for the estimate and sent us an estimate via email afterwards with everything broken down just the way that we asked him to do. He also presented his certificate of insurance. Scott was reasonable enough in the estimate, that we decided to go ahead and have him do all of the work all at once. He also provided a military discount, which was kind and helpful. His estimate was somewhere in the middle of the six to eight that we got, so his demeanor and professional attitude along with the pricing is what made him our choice. Scott does not use spikes while climbing the trees, and proudly says so on his web site. That was also a deciding factor for us. The work was scheduled to take three days total. Scott and a helper came out and took down nine trees for us and trimmed dangerous branches off several more. Some of the trees were right next to our house, and these were taken down with no issues. One of the trees was a dead tree that my husband was going to fell himself but did not get to. Scott also cut up and removed a dead tree that the husband DID fell but never finished cutting up and removing. When it came time to finish up the job and grind down stumps and remove the yard waste, he did so with the aid of his very hard working daughter, and they did a fabulous job! I really cannot say enough nice things about this company. By the time they left, we felt like family (the good kind) had gone after a short visit, and we were going to miss having them around taking care of us. Good people!

It was completely wrapped in poison ivy vines that were 2" thick. Funny part here is Scott said he had passed by my shop many times and seen the tree with broken branches around it and knew it was a problem before I even called him.
