The item was received on the day promised; however, communication was not great. I arrived when they opened on the day it was due. They looked at me confused and said it has to be after noon which no one told me. They hadn't even started it. It was a simple fix. However, the lack of communication wasn't appreciated. When I picked it up, they just handed it to me. They didn't show me the work and when I started to look at it, they just kind of stared at me. Boy, I didn't want to write this review, but I am so disappointed and angry! I brought an expensive pair of new tencel like pants in for a hemming and tuck in the waist. When I was paying ($75.00), I expressly told them that I WANTED THE ORIGINAL HEM put back because nothing screams cheap like cloth turned over and stitched. I could have done that! After almost 4 weeks, I picked them up and lo and behold, the original hem was cut off and not put back on after the alteration. She tried to tell me I never mentioned that until I produced my receipt. They dug around in the trash and found them. I had to come back the following day. I got home with my pants and realized that they never actually changed the hemline, nor did they tuck the waist. So, I paid $75.00 for nothing. If you can find anywhere else to go for alterations, I would do that! The picture is proof that they never tucked the waist. read more

I asked for a quote and got a response quick and went in there and they were able to do what I needed. I wouldn't say it was a great price they offered but they are nice uniforms so I knew people would charge more for that anyway. However they didn't take the top clasp out of the top of the zipper like I'd ask and they said they would and I didn't notice until I got home with them. So I went back and stopped by to let them know, as she said she'd "do it really quick" really quick turned into me having to leave because while doing it "really quick" she managed to help a customer come in and completely help her like had her try on the garment and then went to charge her while I was sitting there waiting. As if that wasn't rude enough to do she answers the phone and was on the phone for 5 minutes. It took so long I had to go pbecause I had an appointment so I said I'd come back so then I came back an hour later and she handed to me saying "$10" and I was like "to use the seam ripper to take the clasp out that you said you would do and didn't then have me come back in for it?" And yes said yes because it took her away from her other duties lol. I was that's actually insane but okay and paid her. I mean after spending over $140 on altering my uniforms you'd think they'd at least take a stupid seam ripper and take out the clasp that literally took 1 minute, but no. I will not be coming back and do not recommend. Terrible customer service. read more

Very simple request to shorten a shower curtain. This is not a complicated thing. They asked $30, which seemed high but I didn't complain. Then she said she needs an entire week. That seemed to be a long time for such an easy job. I asked for it to be done quickly they said $5 extra I didn't complain. Then they demanded payment up front I said no way first you do a good job and then I will pay you. She was very rude and said "go somewhere else" okay I will do exactly that. I live in the Biltmore area and I was reading reviews for tailors in the area on yelp when I came across l g & j alterations. The first time I came in I was having pants altered for my partner who wasn't able to come in person with work scheduling. Not only did Maya offer to have both pants tailored within 20 minutes, she insisted that i have the hem adjusted if my partner didn't love the length. Since then i've been back numerous times for alterations on other items and always leave extremely satisfied. She is a seamstress, tailor all in one stop she has completely altered dresses, jackets and blouses. I never have any issues with my garments. WoW! The lady's name is Maya, and she did a great job hemming up the legs of my motorcycle riding pants. To be clear, this job was not as if it were pant legs on a pair of slacks being hemmed. These were riding over pants with insertable liners whose hems had to match. On top of that, tough material used so one's riding boots don't quickly wear away softer materials along with strips of Velcro had to be cut away and then reattached perfectly. Finally, buttons that hold the liners to the riding pants had to be removed and reattached in flawlessly. This was done to perfection. read more
