I should have done a review for Ali's so much sooner, apologies to this fine establishment. My wedding was in October of 2022 and in July of that year I went to Ali's to ensure my dress (which I bought online) was fitted the way it should be. I knew very little about how a gown should fit and what could be done to ensure there was no tripping over my own train, but was looking forward to talking to someone who knew what they were doing. I found Ali's right here on yelp and was impressed with the reviews. I messaged the business asking a few questions and Lana got back to me in under 2 hours. Very quick. I was put at ease with the responses (as well as the timeliness of their response) and set up an appointment. This was done by filling out an appointment form and again receiving a quick response where we verified a day/time that would work. During the initial appointment the seamstress I met with had me put on my dress and basically told me that it was fitted as well as it could have been already... it was hugging all the right spots and there were no glaring issues (lucky me!). The only thing I really needed, then, was to have the train bustled (meaning able to be pinned up) so that I could walk and dance and not have myself or others tripping on my dress. While bustling the dress would probably take the pro's at Ali's all of 20-30 minutes, they are a busy and professional place that ensures each customer is given the time and attention they deserve from the business, so every step of working with Ali's is scheduled. I handed over the extra button that came with the dress, and the seamstress set up a day and time for me to come pick it up again after the alteration was made. The work may have been minor, but it was impeccable. They ensured a small button held up several layers of very long and heavy fabric. I was very pleased with the work they did, the timeliness of their responses, and the attention they gave to a relatively small project. Lana is a MIRACLE worker. I originally had my wedding dress altered by someone the shop owner had recommended and it was a nightmare. The woman made my form fitting dress too short, small in all the wrong places, big in all the wrong places and it looked like I was a walking accordion. When I asked this lady if she could fix it she literally told me there was nothing she could do. This was two days before I was leaving out of town to get married by the way. So, desperate to get a second opinion my mom had come across this shop and reached out to Lana. Not only did Lana respond immediately with compassion she had us come to her within an hour to see what she could do. As soon as she saw my dress she was able to figure out the problem and explained what she could do to fix it and would have it ready for me the following morning. I cannot even begin to thank Lana for the help she offered me the week of my wedding. I took my dress to a previous alterations place starting in August, and after 8+ appointments I quickly realized things were starting to go south. After "trusting the process", I went to pick up my dress the week of my wedding to find it was truly botched - horrible craftsmanship, terrible seams, so many issues with the dress. I was panicked and needed a fast solution in what was probably the most stressful week of my life. I found Alis fashion design by going through the highest rated bridal shops in the area. I absolutely was not disappointed by any of Lana's work! I just got married 11/3/22 and Lana made my wedding dress fit like a glove- mind you when I brought it in it wouldn't even stay on my body lol. She had to work with a lot of layers of fabric , tulle, and lace and her work is seamless!! She added straps to my dress from my left over tulle which were so beautiful. One strap did end up popping the stitch and coming off but to be fair I had lifted my arm past the fabrics limits one too many times in the night lol. I had her fix up my reception dress as well since it was also too big on me. Lana is simply amazing! I would recommend her to absolutely anyone and everyone who need an alteration done, especially for bridal. I called up Lana one day at the recommendation of the shop where I bought a lovely yet intricately beaded body suit for my wedding (Lovely Bride, which I would also recommend), and Lana was SO nice and accommodating when I spoke with her. She was willing to have us meet her at her shop outside or her posted hours and just really made me comfortable and excited to work with her. Lana exceeded my expectations! All of her alterations were completely hidden (this is a nude/mostly see through and completely beaded body suit, so no easy task), plus she came up with a way entirely on her own to take the weight my boobs off my shoulders by inserting a hidden strap inside. It worked like a CHARM and my shoulders were no longer red from the straps. I got my bodysuit back several weeks before my wedding so I had ample time, and what she charged me was so reasonable compared to other places I was shocked and so happy! I had gone to get my dress altered by someone a friend recommended. She completely ruined my dress, it was a low cut back and after the alteration it was worse than before I even had it altered! It was way too big and gapped in the back, tight in the shoulders and I was told to just tape it or use glue. I was getting married in Jamaica so that would not work with all the humidity. I was also told this was totally normal and there was nothing more she could do. After I had a meltdown, I found Lana through yelp and read all of the amazing reviews of her saving other dresses! She was so responsive, called me right away and set up an appointment with me the same week. She helped calm me down and was so honest with her. I asked her to please tell me if my dress wouldn't be able to be saved and she was 100% confident she could. She undid everything the previous seamstress did and pinned it to fit me.
