These guys (A J & Ganesh) were fantastic. I needed to have grounded outlets & A J came the day after I called. He looked at the job, gave me a price & worked quickly to do that. But he told me that the whole house grounding wasn't done correctly. My daughter & her husband own the brownstone I live in & my son-in-law came down to talk with A J about that project. This business was recommended to me from Home Depot Pro Referral. Since they are highly rated there, although Yelp has mixed reviews, I chose to still give them a chance and reached out to the owner of the business. I contacted him; he did not message or reach out to me unlike some other businesses. He recommended that someone come to my apartment for an estimate for a small fee. I agreed. His employee, Ajay, was professional. He was helpful and answered any questions I had about the work through text or phone. The owner; however, did not seem to be that interested in performing the work. Initially, I only thought my building required proof of insurance. I sent them a sample right away, but not until I called several days later stating please let me know if you are not interested in doing the work is when it seemed like he was cooperating. Long story short, because my building has several requirements for work being performed in apartments, which I forwarded him the requirements and documents needed, he stopped contacting me and never got back to me. Could not simply tell me that he could not do the work, which I would have appreciated a lot more. I would call, which he would answer, but would come up with an excuse, and I finally got the hint. Proceed with caution if you live in a building complex that requires a contract, and other documents supporting the projected work. I believe the owner only wanted his employee to do the work, but since my building had a lot of requirements, it did not seem worth his time. It worked out for me anyway, for I went with a company recommended by my building that installed outlets in the wall for around the same price as their proposed work. Make sure you get several estimates, do your research in advance, and don't be afraid to ask questions. read more

The issue was a light fixture with a broken ballast. I wanted the ballast to be bypassed and to use LED lighting instead. I had provided the lighting and the materials required. I put out a request and they were one of the first to respond. They indicated that they would come the next day and look at the situation and provide an estimate. They showed up on time, and went straight to work. In retrospect, that is not what should have happened. They quickly and efficiently installed the light and it worked perfectly, but I had not gotten an estimate so I was not quite sure what I was going to end up paying. They were notably higher than an estimate that I had received (which included providing materials - which I provided) but they had done the work, so I did not feel it appropriate to haggle. In the end, though, they did great work and even cleaned up after they were done. read more

Sadly, I do not recommend this company for complex jobs. For running wire, they ok. However, if the project involves Sheetrock work or any construction repair, choose another company with the expertise. Their cleanliness and care for their work area is very poor. One room they did, they didn't put down plastic or tarp and as a result, we had to have the hardwood floor done over. One of the more ridiculous issues we had was when we found my son's bed slats in a door frame, because they didn't have the proper materials. There are two other slats, only God knows where they are in our walls. I can go on and on, but to relive this ordeal is quite upsetting. Their only redeeming quality was that they were very nice people. If you choose this company definitely get references and pics. And if Ganesh claims we're not in his area, I will post the checks and receipts for what work they did. read more

Our lights had been flickering on and off throughout the house for a couple of weeks and couldn't find anyone to help. I called G&R and they immediately picked up and scheduled a site visit and spent a couple hours diagnosing the problems and checking the house. They had to replace the entire panel as the previous homeowners had the system completely overloaded and could have caused a fire. They took great care and rescheduled another job to work on our emergency. Ajay and Ganesh were on time, very polite, worked really fast, and showed me everything every step of the way. They cleaned up everything and went through the house to label every breaker so I could know where things are now. Absolutely lucked out finding them and them being available. Absolutely recommend! The job was relatively simple, upgrading an apartment's light switches to smart switches. But the YouTube tutorials didn't match up to what I saw when I opened up the light switch myself, so I knew I had better get a professional. G & R were exactly what I was looking for. Importantly, they were happy to arrange everything over email (no phone calls required!). Ganesh showed up to do an estimate, and quoted a price a good bit lower than some of the other places I had been in contact with. We went ahead and did the job that day, and it was quick and easy. Ganesh's confidence and knowledge impressed me, and he was friendly and willing to answer questions and work through minor things that came up (e.g. checking different bulbs we had to make sure they were compatible with the smart switches). He also made sure to tidy the space afterward, packing up all the leftover pieces and vacuuming the drywall residue. Although my electrical needs are minor, as a simple apartment-renter, I plan to work with G & R for any future projects that come up. Initially, we were impressed with their professional manner. They gave a quote which seemed reasonable. Because of the extensive work we needed, the owner said he had a construction crew that they worked with. Well I'd like to say this story had a happy ending, but it did not. We were hit up for another 10K for "supplies" . Our mistake, lesson learned. Never give money up front. Their "construction crew" did not know what they were doing. After a week we decided they needed to leave as we were not only furious at the shoddy construction, but every night we would shake our heads in disbelief. We called in a real professional who apologized that someone in his field would actually call it a professional job. Imagine that. We are still trying to correct the mess they left us with. With regard to the electric work, we were naive and probably would have done things differently. The job was ok, but just ok. Moral of story: NEVER give money without proof of work. ALWAYS, know what you want and how you want it done. ALWAYS get references. ALWAYS get a reference from people that you know. FINALLY, check YouTube.
