I'm leaving this review to warn others before they waste their money like I did. I came here for an emissions-related catalytic converter issue. Multiple places -- Firestone, Pep Boys (two locations), AutoZone, and an actual emissions test -- all showed the same code: P0420 (Bank 1). This shop was the only place that suddenly claimed the issue was P0430 (Bank 2). Mike quoted me $1,200 for labor and parts and told me he'd call me. He finished the car in about 3 hours, which I initially thought was great -- until my check engine light came back on immediately on the drive home. Despite me clearly explaining that every other shop found P0420, he insisted his diagnostics "didn't show it" and said he could "get the light off" so I could pass emissions. He never showed me printed diagnostics or paperwork proving any of this. Here's the worst part: I didn't even end up getting the second converter done at this location, yet I still walked away out over $2,000 -- and my car STILL has a check engine light on. So I paid thousands, didn't get the full work done, and didn't pass emissions. Mike seems like a nice person, but this felt misleading at best and dishonest at worst. What was supposed to be a $1,200 repair turned into a $2,200 nightmare right before the holidays. This place may seem cheaper upfront, but it will cost you more in the long run -- financially and mentally. If you're reading this: walk away and take your car somewhere else. read more

Service, pricing and value is great! They offer solutions quickly and get the job done. Brought my 2020 Mercedes for new brake pads/rotors and they did amazing. Other shops didn't even want to do the work because of the type of brake pads and rotors my car has. If they did it was extremely priced. After he put a new manager in, he found out about the problems, so Doug is back and as nice a person as anyone could want. I had a loud muffler sound and stopped by today around 11 AM. The lot was full of cars, so I expected a long wait. I went in and explained how to make the noise occur. They immediately put the car on a lift and after not finding anything obvious they drove the car and when they returned, found a cracked pipe hidden under a bracket. They welded the pipe shut and after everything cooled down, returned the car to me. I was there less than an hour. The price was very reasonable. I'd strongly recommend them so long as they continue to work like that. read more

I've been using G&S for years and was happy with service to all my cars recommending to people how good and fair on prices they were while Doug was in charge! One of my cars had a dash error on traction control which involved a sensor replacement. NAPA parts were ordered and had to pay a deposit to have them delivered to G&S. Having researched replacement parts I knew parts pricing before dropping the car off. When I was given an invoice, noticed the parts pricing was excessive and they confirmed it was a genuine NAPA part. The parts price on my invoice was about their dealer price doubled! When asked was this price to me correct and was there any adjustment to be made! Response made was their invoice price was correct! (?????) December 2021 I went there because of my vehicle have been screwed up by another muffler shop. To have them to correct the problem for me in which they did and that was a blessing. But I got there at 8:20 set there until 11:05. Waiting on a felpro manifold gasket at the price of $19 to come. Not One professional human came around there to tell me they were sorry for my wait. I have seen over 12 people come in caucasians get responses of wait. Corresponding when there car is going to be ready. And the staff apologizing for their wait. I'm sitting in the same waiting room that they are no one said a word to me. Let's get it straight I walked in said good morning very professional to the nice lady on the front desk. Thank you for your hospitality and your kindness. She basically didn't know why they had me waiting so long for a small non expensive gasket. At 11:05 I went to the desk to ask why was I waiting so long for a gasket that only last 19 the nice lady on the disresponding that she didn't know she was going to find out. I'll heal hit the fan when I started asking about my wait from the guys in the back. I didn't like the way check number 27 handle my car when he came to retrieve it to take it to the back I saw the angle in the way he was driving my vehicle. I got this referral from AutoNation Nissan. But she couldn't go over and beyond her job to find out why. Because she doesn't want she didn't want to be too nice. Due to the rest of the cave dwellers in the back. How do you let a person sit and wait from from 8:20 to 11:05. 11:05 I went to the desk and asked her why was I waiting so long and haven't got anybody to come back here and say we're sorry for your weight but your part is on the way. What I really think happened was they didn't order the part at 8:20 when I got there.. they ordered it when they f****** got ready. My solution is if you don't want to service brown people.. put a note on the front of your door saying we do not want your business Brown people. BE aware your treatment in the response of your weight in the care of your car. That place has some hidden agendas. There's a prejudice issues going on in there. Be aware of that tall Lucifer devil passing out those blessings. You know Lucifer was an angel he know about all the blessings . I will never patronize their business again! read more

Was referred to this shop by K&M Auto for an exhaust pipe which needed to be repaired for $600+. Checked the reviews and assumed I would be taken care of. Left my car for almost two days, picked it up and it had a loud rattle and still smelled like exhaust fumes when driving. Called and brought my car back and was informed of a new concern after initial repair; gasket leak. When I picked up my car the second time, I found it wedged between 2 cars in the corner of the parking lot while it was starting to heavily rain. When I got home from the shop, I noticed the drivers quarter panel window shattered with glass pieces in the hatch. I reached out to Doug the next morning and he immediately said he "didn't know what to tell me. It didn't happen here. I wouldn't lie to you." I asked him if he had cameras, said they don't. I asked if he had insurance and he became defensive and said he wouldn't lie and that it wasn't them that did it. Completely unprofessional and no help whatsoever. I don't ever plan on returning or referring anyone here as there were multiple problems and no accountability for the damages I now have to pay an additional $700 to fix this when it wouldn't have ever happened if I didn't have to come back. Who would agree to have repairs on their exhaust only to inherit more repair costs on something "they didn't do"? read more

I am really tiffed, honestly. I won't be going back here. I originally brought my car in for some issues with accelerating, getting kickback from the car upon increasing throttle. I don't know much about cars, so I pretty much have to deal with mechanics. I've gone to G&S before and not had many problems, but now I've learned they're all the same... First it was the throttle position sensor, then it was the entire throttle body. I paid $500 for this only to leave the lot and have my car persist with the same issues basically immediately. They claim to have test driven it but that was clearly a lie. Upon bringing it back, I was told my ENTIRE INTAKE MANIFOLD needed replacing because of a coolant leak "flooding cylinder 8", asked for nearly $1000!!!! I decided to say no and get a second opinion from a small mechanic that I know personally, thank god I did. He was absolutely outraged. The intake manifold is fine. In fact, there was no reason to even assume it was the throttle sensor! TPS throws its own code... G&S even admitted the code my car was throwing was a misfire code. All they had to do was check out the spark plugs and coils, and they had wanted $200 just to "run diagnostics". Are you kidding??! Turns out the spark plug and ignition coils just went bad from wear and tear, and that the "coolant leak" was actually just a radiator hose clamp gone bad! My friend was able to fix it for $100. So now, I am out $500 that I desperately needed for healthcare all because G&S workers are either too incompetent or just deliberately lied and took advantage of me because I am a woman who doesn't know about cars. I really can't say, but thank you all for not giving a crap and taking $500 from me for a part that didn't need replacing. You mess with people's livelihoods and you need to do better. I genuinely believe that was intentional dishonesty and they were trying to milk me. Shame on you. I am never one to leave bad reviews, EVER! but good lord, you all messed up my life and well-being with this. I lost a lot of $ and it was so much stress!! How hard is it to run a simple pressure test and find out the coolant is leaking from a hose? I watched my friend show me the leak, stop the leak, and then inspect to make sure coolant wasn't getting into the cylinder like they claimed. Save yourself the stress and don't go here. People are not just your cash cows. Our vehicles are our livelihood. I'm appalled. read more

GO HERE - I SAVED OVER $2,000 ! My 2008 Toyota Prius, had a check engine light & OBD2 Code (won't pass GA emissions test for tag renewal). 2 Toyota Dealer estimates both wanted $2700 to replace the OEM catalytic converter (24mo/24k warranty). G&S repaired for under $300 (also includes 24mo/24K warranty) with generic cat-converter. Passed GA Emissions test! I was in and out in under 2 hours (Waffle House next door). This is second time I used them - first was last year to repair Exhaust pipe on 2006 Nissan Titan which disconnected: Dealer wanted $975 for entire assembly, they did it for $88 to reweld it back up - took 45 minutes. I am only taking my cars (that are not under factory warranty) here (2170 Cobb Pky Kennesaw) from now on... very competent, courteous, and you are NOT paying for exorbitant service department & OEM parts (but have same warranty!) read more

Ok so where do i start? The first time i went the manager was in and he was very nice and friendly. I got some exhaust work done on my car and i was on my way. When i got home i noticed that one of my exhaust tips was hanging lower than the other and upon inspection i found that one of the welds was extremely poorly done and had broken off on my less than a mile drive home. So i went back the next week and asked them to fix it. I should have just went somewhere else since these guys obviously dont know how to weld but i figured it was just a one off mistake and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. While i was there i asked them to put some new tips on my exhaust so i wasnt just taking up space on the lift for a free repair. When they brought my car out my window was all the way down which was strange since it was up when i dropped it off. When i drove away it wouldnt go back up. So i pulled off and called the shop. They told me to bring it back up and they would take a look. When i returned i was told that they worked on the exhaust and not the window (duh) and that it wasnt their fault and they werent going to fix it. They didnt even come look at it. My window was not broken when i got there and it wouldnt even make sense to pay a shop for $500 in exhaust work only to try to get them to fix a window that fell off the track for free. Got it home and it took about 10 minutes to fix in my driveway. The employees were extremely rude about it and pretty much laughed me out of the shop acting like i dont know what im talking about. Also when i got home i notice that the same weld i came in to fix had broken again. So they didnt even do that right. Overall a terrible experience and i really hope that the management finds some people with some customer service skills and who know how to weld before they ruin this small business. Im a car guy who goes to alot of meets and is involved in the local car community and referrals from people like me are important. I will never recommend that place. In fact i will tell people to avoid them at all costs. The window is one thing because maybe it was just a coincidence that a car that i have had for years that has never had any window issues suddenly had a window issue while it was in their shop. I guess thats probable. But the fact that their welds look like bubblegum and dont hold up is not up for debate. These guys do poor quality work and they dont care about their customers at all. Not even the ones paying for big jobs. $500 worth of exhaust work when i brought all my own parts is not cheap. And to be treated this poorly and not even have the job done correctly is just unacceptable. I wont be back with my other cars... read more

This was my first time going to G&S. They came highly recommended by two different friends. I have a Mercedes G500 and I hated how quiet it was. I researched and and purchased some Magnaflow exhausts and Mercedes AMG tips. I went into G&S and Doug assured me his guys were great and really took pride in their work and it would show at the end. I watched them arrange, weld and carefully build my system and I was super impressed with their work and communication. They would call me over to see if I was happy with the exhaust tips placement as it makes a funny loop under the vehicle. I noticed their welds look clean and top notch. Today was my 2nd visit here at G & S Auto and I had the pleasure of great service, but today was the 1st time that I paid for service! Let me explain! About 9 months ago began noticing that there was low power output on the car and a slight rumble. Thought it was the muffler and stopped over to G & S and told me nothing is wrong at all with the muffler and it's in good shape...no charge have a nice day! Fast forward a few months, check engine light came on and had my Catalytic Converter replaced on my vehicle (by another body shop), and the repairman that installed did a shoddy job to say the least. There was a noticeable audible sound coming from the exhaust that was NOT there prior to install, AND the performance of the car speed was reduced. He went on to explain that I had a hole in the muffler and that I needed the resonator replaced and something else. It puzzled me why would the car go from a slight noise to a LOUDER noise after having a new Cat installed. So I believed him that it was the muffler and I would have to shell out more money for replacement. I decided to get a second opinion after months of driving with the car sounding like it was struggling to get out of 2nd gear. Stopped in, told me "your muffler is just fine! And that it looks like a poor install job on the Cat, just needs the sleeve replaced, we'll get ya fixed up right in no time!" $60 bucks in and out in 40 minutes! Car is back to purring like a kitten and speedin like a lion! What I really want to convey here is that they are HONEST! Doug I can't thank you enough for having integrity with your business and with your customers and that's why for my future needs of my brakes/exhaust you have my business! read more

I found them via online reviews about 6 months ago, had a mysterious rattle to diagnose. They spent about an hour, didn't charge me a dime because they didn't know what it was.. but the rattle was gone. I just went back needed brakes; the last time I had front brakes and rotors it cost me over$325 in East Point...G&S got me out the door with all that PLUS adjusted the rear brakes, and rotated my tires --$165!!! This is the only auto shop I trust in the Atlanta area, granted I've only been to a few since moving here. They are always friendly and their rates are great. The first time I took my car to them my catalytic converter had gone bad an the other shops in the area wanted to charge me $475+ to replace it. I bring my car to these guys and they cut a new one in for less than $400 including rotating my rotors for me. It's been 13K+ miles and a year later and everything is still running great. When I had an issue 6 months later with my fuel system other shops wanted to charge me to clean the fuel system and replace the pump, full engine work, etc. and I almost went for it considering I have been approaching 100K miles in this car and its about time for a tune-up. I was able to take my car into G&S on an early Saturday morning and they took a look at my car and determined I just needed a new gas cap that cost me $16, they didn't even try to make me buy one from them. Issue resolved, no more check engine light. I have had 2 other experiences with these guys that have been all good. I cringed a little bit at the price when I had my coolant and brake fluid changed but that's always the case when you choose to let someone else do it rather than doing it yourself. I will have my new Mustang soon and will be bringing it to these guys for some exhaust work. read more

Went in for a custom rear section on my car for more exhaust note. They did what I asked to a degree, but they left a valve in the exhaust from the OEM muffler. Ultimately, it caused an annoying rattling sound and I had to take it back. I asked them to remove all of this but blamed me for a "lack of communication" and tried to spin it as if I didn't know anything about cars. All in all, I wish I could give them lower than a 1 star. If you are going to go there expect to be extremely explicit on what work you want done or you'll end up having to come back and spend more money. They also charged me nearly double than some of my peers who had the exact same thing done to their exhausts but at a different shop. Find another shop if you want a good relationship with the people that do work on your car. read more

Alright, I love G and S Auto and I've never spent a dime with them! Not yet anyway. They gave me a price over the phone for $260 for catalytic converter. That was about half of another place that I checked with, and less than a fourth of what the Honda dealership was going to charge me. The dealership was actually the place that told me that I HAD to get a new catalytic converter or it would never pass inspection. After being in the waiting room for about 5 minutes, the technician, Pat, came to tell me that he didn't think I needed one, even though the dash light was on. He told me to take it through inspection, and if it didn't pass to bring it back. I just took it through inspection today and it passed with flying colors! For a service center to be that honest upfront, I'll be going back, even though it is quite out of the way for me. read more

Doug is awesome! Great customer service. I usually only get alignments here ($49) but after my husband changed some oxygen sensors and it started surging they got me in right away. Toyota was charging $200 for $30 oxygen sensors!!! I'm done with the dealerships they are such a ripoff. read more

I have been going to G & S for years, and my most recent visit reminded me of why this place is so damn good!! My car was having A/C problems ... sometimes it would work, more often, not. I brought my car in around lunch time hoping that they could fix it by closing time. (It was a very hot Summer day). They called me less than an hour after dropping it off and said that it was not a simple refrigerant problem, they would need to diagnose the electrical system. I gave the okay, then they called me an hour later to say that it needed a new A/C relay, and they could fix this ,... but it was also needed a refrigerant charge. I gave the okay. My car was ready to pickup by closing time and the A/C works better than new!! The repair costs were very reasonable considering that this was not a simple refrigerant problem. Bottom line: these mechanics know what they are doing ... they are super efficient ... they communicate an estimate before doing the work ... and the cost of repairs is very reasonable. Doug is a friendly guy and cares about his customers. I trust G & S with any repair job - they don't just do mufflers! read more

I've been to this G and S half a dozen times over the past year. Each time I've spoken with who I believe to be the manager or owner. Many times he's been semi friendly to me, given me straightforward answers to any questions or problems I threw his way. However, some of my most recent experiences here haven't gone how I would've liked them to go. Their work is rushed and shoddy. Not to mention, the pricing for their repairs is very expensive. For example, one of my most recent repairs was to simply replace 2 rotors. The other 2 Moog rotors and all 4 pads were all very recently new, at most a week or two old. They charged slightly under 130$ when I supplied my own 2 Moog rotors. That's extremely expensive. The job overall took the same amount of time to grab a coffee with a different car. Heres where it gets shady: Immediately after getting my car returned to me, the car began to squeak very loudly every time I braked. Before bringing it into their shop, my car made zero noise while braking. After a couple days, the squeaking got louder and louder and began to squeak while driving at low speeds too. After a week or two of getting more and more annoyed, I conveniently popped a tire and had to get it replaced at a Goodyear tire shop. I told the Goodyear manager there about my squeaking, and he advised me to go back to G and S and ask them to deglaze my pads or resurface my rotors since they neglected to clean the pads last time, causing the annoying squeaking. This manager was honestly very shocked that they didn't do this already, as it is apparently common knowledge that this is procedure. So, simple answer is that I felt it would be appropriate for G and S to fix this, since I believe this squeaking problem never should've started had they sanded the pads or cleaned the rotors while under the car the first time. I went back the next day and spoke with the manager at G and S and asked him how he felt about deglazing the pads because the squeaking is driving me crazy. He laughed at me, told me that i'm wasting his time and that what I was saying is bull shit. His entire demeanor was angry and pompous. He took zero blame and said if I want this fixed to bring him all new pads and rotors and that he wouldn't absorb any of the cost, even though this issue started because of their shoddy work. I went hours before their close, and he repeatedly told me that talking to him about this and that attempting this would be a colossal waste of his time and that he didn't want to do it. I never got angry with him, I was shocked that this was his response. This immediately turned me away from the idea of letting them under my car and do any more work on it. When I got in my car to leave, I looked in my mirror to see that we walked out of the shop to stand with his arms crossed glaring at me, watching me the entire time as I drove off. Because of this, I'm stuck with squeaking breaks and out 130$ for a shitty rotor install. I've already lined up with a different mechanic to resurface my rotors and put on new pads all for UNDER the cost of replacing the TWO rotors that G and S charged me. Which sucks that I have to go through this again and again. It's safe to say that I will never return back to this shop, and I advise others to be cautious in further dealings with them. It's entirely possible that any other work I've done with them has been done improperly as well, time will tell.
