This place was the worst I've ever walked into. I walked in it smelt like weed, there was a bottle behind the counter that said "DRUGS" in giant letters, the owner (Linda) is a total stuck up C U Next Tuesday, the only person worth a damn at that place was Kasey (doesn't work there anymore) and Mitch or Midge (not sure what he said he was kinda quiet) all the other workers could care less, don't ask if you need help, slam your stuff as they ring you up, I'm pretty sure I will never go in again. Wow, this is so terrible I wouldn't even give it a star if possible. Not only was their inventory subpar and almost non existent, they were rude and abrasive. Not one employee was wearing a face mask during this Covid pandemic and one employee actually made a sheep crying sound at me, making fun of me for wearing a face mask. I was actually ready to spend a good amount of money at this establishment. I'm happy they were so incredibly rude before inquiring about a future purchase through them. read more

Sure, it's a cool place if you're a vet and/or enjoy the the out doors. I'm all about supporting local businesses, but have gotten better service, better attitudes and better prices at Big5. I'm in there two or three times a year and staff is always kind of laid back, recently was looking for something in particular many types of the same product but instead of guidance loudly listened to f bombs guys behind the counter. One guy that said he was the owner eventually helped me right before I walked. Kind of a horses ass, usually ppl in ukiah go out of their way to be friendly but he had a way making a guy out to be a schmuck with no idea what it is that you're talking about. Retail can be tricky it's obvious when staff thinks that anyone that walks thru the door is on their "turf" thats what this place is. No need to pay 20% more for something you can get online or elsewhere. I suppose I d give 5 stars if they were my buds but that's not what I go into a store. read more

What a fun store! This place is so well organized and they have so many things that I want (and some I need) - it was hard to walk out of there without purchasing a bunch of stuff (but being on a motorcycle limited my ability to bring home camp chairs and coffeepots). Friendly staff, great selection - a really fun place to check out on your way through Ukiah and points beyond. If you're heading out to go camping and forgot something - skip the REI stop in Santa Rosa and try this fantastic gem of a surplus store in Ukiah, instead (if it is on your route!). read more

I never pass up an Army Surplus store. GI Joes, is on my list of must sees each and every time I'm in Ukiah. They have a good selection of knives, camping gear, and clothing. Most of the surplus stuff is upstairs, so don't miss going up to check it out. The guys who work there are always friendly. A real "guys" sorta place. I always find something that I "need." Parking: on the street. If I can park my RV there, you can find a spot too. read more

Disappointed that the surplus selection wasn't better. We were expecting it to be more like Sherpers in Milwaukee, WI, but it wasn't. Their pricing was a little high and the surplus...well not the type of surplus we expected. On the plus side, they had lots of Carhardt clothing for farmers and camo clothing for hunters. (Note to GI Joes: the camo 2 piece bathing suits were not charming, I thought they were rather degrading.) Other gear for hunting was also available, but I didn't check out the pricing. Also had a large selection of kayaks upstairs. Limited selection of camping gear, (only certain brands) and still a bit high on pricing. Their sale on the camping stoves was not much of a sale. While their prices made be less than Costco or REI, my camping stove did not cost $80+. The store was stocked pretty full with so many items, it was hard to focus on just one thing. In a town fairly far away from major shopping choices, this place will fit most needs. read more

So it's December 23rd and I am still working on my Christmas shopping. My niece had asked for a pair of tan Ugg Australian boots. I am frantically searching the entire Bay Area looking for a size 8 and having no luck. I make stops on the Peninsula, SF, Marin and finally Santa Rosa (both malls and Montgomery Village) and it's looking more and more like my niece will not have the boots she has been coveting for months. I get up to Ukiah and go out for some fresh air and decide to stop into GI Joe's to look for a rain jacket since I had left mine behind and I would be in Ukiah for more than a week and what should I stumble upon? Good selection. Location is a bit of a pain, and the parking experience is like some sort of passive-aggressive parking IQ test. But they have some good gear here for your outdoor needs. Here, park somewhere inside this rectangle of pavement. We have placed some kayaks and a couple of camp chairs in your way, and some other shoppers are already parked at right angles to each other. read more

Beware, Extremely poor customer service. They only give store credits for returns. When I gave a gift and the receiver wanted a different model, we waited 3 months and were told that it was coming in. It never did and we could not get our money back. Prices are high, but the main issue was customer service. Was looking into cost on an item, and when I realized how much it was I said I would have to hold off. The guy working the counter made a reference to the car I was driving and laughed that I didn't want to purchase the item. Very offensive. Also, I was there 25 minutes before closing and they were rushing me out. Very disappointed. Will not be back. read more

Lousy parking. Decent selection, but too high. Haven't been in there in a while because of their high prices. Last time I was in there I was looking for some camo pants to go turkey hunting. They wanted $40. for them. I went to Big 5 and got a pair for $20. read more

A couple of months ago, I purchased a 16 Oz. Co2 tank form these folks. I thought it was a reasonable price at about $37 with free filling. Fast forward 2 months and I discover when I got to get this tank re-filled that its Hydrostatic test period had expired. Ok, no big deal, I'm a little upset that they sold me a product that was due to expire so quickly, but I'll go get it re certified. When I take it in to be tested, the company that does the testing says that the tank I was sold cannot be recertified because it does not meet the current safety requirements. The company offering the Hydro test offered to drop it off at my house on his way home from work, but at this point, the tank is only good for scrap metal. I will not be purchasing anything from GI Joe's again! read more

Not the best surplus store I have seen but it is a nice place to browse every once in a while.

Absolutely love this store! I go here for all of my camping and outdoor needs. They even have camouflage infant clothes that are adorable. The staff is great and very knowledgeable about their products. If you love Carhartt, this is the place to go. They have a little of everything. read more
