I've been here twice as it's 2 miles from my house. Not super impressed with their beer selection- lack of lagers, ambers, and stouts (they do an imperial but that's a lot of ABV for a causal beer). The food is over priced. The chicken sandwich costs more than a pizza does! I've had the pizza twice and I really need the crust to be crispier. It's like the crust is not cooked long enough. Never walked out of a restaurant before last night. Waited eight minutes before anyone greeted us while standing at the "wait to be seated stand." Apparently the hostess was in the back talking to a manager about the gentleman ahead of us order. Somehow he placed an order through their website but no one was able to find site because they don't take online orders? Manager refused to come out and speak to him. Sent the young hostess to say too bad, He walked out without the food along with charges on his credit card. We were seated fairly quickly after this. Brought waters and asked about our drinks. Waitress pointed out beer menu on TV, walked away (without saying a word). And, after 15 minutes of never seeing her again we decided to leave. This would have been my third time there. I really wanted to like this place. We were visiting from Arizona & were told G5 was pretty good. We were seated right away and ordered Diet Cokes. They came and tasted bad with little fizz. We told the waitress and ordered iced tea. Those came with no sweetener or lemon. We had to ask. We then ordered apps, cheese curds & truffle fries. They came with no plates. The curds were the frozen, corn flour breaded ones. More breading than cheese. The fries were the BOMB! I could eat these all day, every day! I wanted the Pear salad and asked the waitress if I could have iceberg or regular lettuce instead of the spring mix. She said 'sure!' The salad came with the spring mix. Boooo. I just picked out the bitter purple pieces. My son ordered the ham & gruyere sandwich. He took one bite and that was it, didn't like it. He finished his fries. This brewery serves brunch on Sundays. They also have a great menu with salads, burgers, or pizza. We love the view while sitting enjoying a cold glass of beer with appetizers on a Sunday afternoon. Heard wonderful things about this new brewery in Beloit and couldn't wait to try it. Great bar, garage doors to the outdoor patio, tons of seating inside and out, location is off the beaten path but once they landscape the views will be incredible. Enjoyed a beer flight which was great, lots of different flavors. Had the cheese curds for an app? Which were extremely disappointing. Tasted frozen and soggy. Wouldn't order them again. For the entrée, i had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with the fries and broccoli salad, sandwhich was Ok, fries were amazing, and the broccoli salad was refreshing. The service was extremely slow but maybe they were just short handed ?Overall i think with time this place will be a hit. Definitely worth trying ! read more

It seems for G5 that the old adage rings true...good help is hard to find. I have a lot to say about our visit but I'll keep it short. We waited 2 hours for our food after ordering and when I finally went to talk to the manager he said "what you don't want your food?" I said "no we're leaving, we've been waiting for 2 hours for our food". The manager turned and walked away without saying anything else. Delicious food, amazing environment, and friendly service. You wouldn't expect a restaurant/brewery of this caliber just outside of Janesville. Beautiful building and space. The outside patio wasn't quite ready but I can imagine it being a very popular hang out in the summer. My husband and I have large appetites so we shared a supreme pizza and burger. We couldn't finish the pizza. Everything very tasty; homemade ranch which is my favorite and the waffle fries were great. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE The only positive thing I can say about the service is our bartender was friendly/nice. She was EXTREMELY inattentive, zero efficiency. I had to ask for her attention constantly. If I needed a drink, order my dinner, order a second drink or order dessert--I had to ask her! She left for at least 15minutes without checking with us before she left, then when she finally came back, she didn't come talk to us. I once again had to grab her attention. She didn't apologize or anything. Not one other bar staff member checked on us the entire time, complete ignored until we had to call her over. The food was great! But the absolute terrible service means I probably won't back. Again, friendly staff for sure, but completely inexperienced and had no idea how to actually wait on people. Terrible! We have gone dozens of times to have their beer. Our kids were with us and playing around (not even causing mischief) and not only were the owners rude to us, they told them to stay in their spot at our table (as their own grandchild freely toddled around inside their brewery). Bland and Boring. I was not impressed with my visit to G5. The decor is non-existent leaving a complete lack of character. I was hopeful our long wait meant the food was worth it, however, it was one of the most disappointing meals I have ever had. We started with drinks. My husband had a Ukulele James beer, he said it was meh. I had a Moscow mule... my standard drink when I go out. It was very bad. My husband was a bartender for 16 years and said there was something off about it as well. He wouldn't drink it either. The cheese curds tasted strange, mostly of oil and nothing else. They were pretty wet to the touch. My husband and I both ordered burgers, both were very overcooked and tasted like bland, dry charcoal briquettes. I had to ditch the brioche bun because it was so wet with butter or oil on top on it. We both ordered the truffle fries, my husband liked them, I did not. Again, all I tasted was oil. To me, they tasted exactly the same as the cheese curds. The service was mediocre, staff doesn't really seem to care. All and all I would give the place two big thumbs down. 40 minutes ago Beer is still good out of some IPA's again so only 1 on the menu. The service and food has declined since last time which wasn't great before. Waited 20 minutes after we were seated until we had to ask a "manager" for waitstaff to help us. The entire experience we were given attitude by the waitstaff as if we were the problem for coming in for lunch. We complained to the "manager" and he took off the gross well-well done burger but offered nothing else except excuses and simple apologies. G5 brewing is a truly cool and unique venue space! I had the privilege of shooting the first wedding to be hosted at this establishment. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful. G5's unique L layout allows guests to eat/socialize on one side and a dance floor/bar on the side. The venue has modern industrial Aesthetic with an exposed ceiling, stellar wood panel wall/stair case that makes for truly unique photo ops. This venue is extremely well lit and was very easy to capture stunning photos! We were even allowed in the brewery room at the end of the night giving my clients a truly unique selection of wedding photos! I am truly delighted to discover this hidden gem! Also, mention worthy, the bride and groom were able to custom design a signature craft beer for their special day!! If you have a smaller wedding or event coming up and are looking for a unique place to host your event, G5 is worth a look or 2!! 12/10 highly recommended! read more

We went for the first time last weekend. We went for food not beer. Loved everything about the atmosphere and meal. We had three adults two children ( and a service dog) . I love when there's space to move around. The design was modern and pretty, even a nice window view. I imagine it's even prettier at night. We ordered 3 of the daily burger special, two types of soup and a broccoli salad , ane kids meals. Travel and dine out often, and I was happy with the experience. My son told us about the place . The kolsch was by far our favorite. 3. Our server was attentive. She wasn't warm and fuzzy, but that's ok. She was prompt with service. We were never left waiting for a drink. 4. We had the meat lovers pizzas. The thin crust was crispy and overall the pizza was delicious! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The outside seating was large and had fire pits for cooler days/evenings. Inside it was spacious and had a variety of seating choices. I took a sip of it and it was watered down and just did not taste good at all. I told the waitress and she apologized and asked if I wanted something else, so I ordered something else. She came back over and said, "the bartender said I have to still charge you for this because you took a sip out of it." Lol okay? I talked to the manager, and she was so rude. This new spot has a very industrial, yet hip vibe to it! The waitress we had (totally forgot her name ) was just a super star. She was very attentive and was great at conversation! I had the chicken rice bowl with veggies for dinner. Everything looked so pretty and it was decent -however, after you get thru the top layer of seasonings/sauce, it was pretty bland. The view from the parking lot overlooking mostly fields and just beautiful scenery is fantastic, almost makes you forget where you are. The inside is very clean and modern looking. The bartenders we had were really nice and had no problem talking to us about every single beer on the menu and if you want to try them all out, that was no problem. I had this one beer with strawberry rhubarb infused into it and it was phenomenal. I only had appetizers and they were all good as well but I can't comment on any of the meals there yet. If I had any complaint it would be that I wish the cocktails were a bit cheaper, its hard to put down $9-12 on ONE drink. read more
