We asked on FB for suggestions for a great NY/Jersey pie and after 200 comments one of the consistent recommendations was Gabbie's Pizza so off we went for Sunday lunch. We showed Denise a photo of a pie we saw on a Google review but asked if she could request the crust to be thinner. Mission accomplished! The pizza maker did a perfect job with the pie all the way around (no pun intended!). Next how about a side with 1 meatball and 1 sausage? In the area and hungry. Saw this pizza place and felt like a slice. The place was not busy at all. I asked about slices and heros. They have a special for two slices. But a sub sounded really good. So I ordered a Chicken Parm sangawich. They said 15 mins, but it was served in 5. It really didn't take long. The first bite was hot chicken and melty cheese. Really good taste. As I have watched Dawn interact with customers while cooking up a storm, I learned everything was homemade, fresh, so we chose to have Gabbie's Pizza cater our party last night. It was a huge success. Everyone raved about the food and wanted to know where it came from. We had spaghetti w/ meatballs, baked ziti, chicken marsala and an awesome antipasta salad. A little thinner than the old owner, but a very credible and good NY style. Hot crisp crust. Negatives: I drove about 10 miles to get here. When I got back to my hotel, I opened the box and found one slice, not the 2 slices I had ordered. The restaurant was also a bit chaotic. An employee seemed to be caring for 2-3 kids in the back who were kind of running around. Not really super disruptive, but not professional either. Ordered a Ortolana (veggie) pizza as a treat for Saturday movie night. Well done. I should have known better when I felt the soaked bottom of the box that I would be disappointed in the crust. The Ortolana appears to be a fantastic combination of vegetables. In practice it looks really good. BUT somehow Gabbies managed to suck the flavor and taste out of each and every topping. Whenever we visit our daughter in Port Orange, my husband has always wanted to visit. He actually visited last February (pre-Covid) with golf buddies. His Pennsylvania buddy raved how much it was like being up north; very New York style. So this evening, we made a visit for in seat dining. The waitress was a sweetheart. You could see the family working hard on all the orders. Many orders were still carry-out at this time. I asked what was a favorite of repeat customers. Our waitress suggested several. BIG RIP-OFF I went to Gabbies in the Pavilion in Port Orange for a slice of pizza. They had a special, 2 slices and a drink for $8.00. So, when we sat down, a 10-year-old boy toke our order. No child labor here! We thought that was cool so we each ordered the special. My friend order the cheese slices and I ordered supreme slices. So, in most pizza places, the difference between a cheese and a supreme slice might be a dollar more for the few items that they put on the slice. When we each had gotten our checks, on my check, they charged me at least "$4.50 more" on each slice, which was over $9.00 more than the 2 slices, and a drink for $8.00. My bill came up to $18.28 for that $8.00 special. I spoke to the owner to ask her why it was so much more hoping she would do the right thing and adjust the check, but she did not... She stood by her pricing. I told her that she would lose customers for 9 dollars and I did tell her that I would put this on Yelp. She didn't care. So, I paid the $18.28 for two slices and a drink and let everyone know to Be Aware of their pricing. If that 9 dollars is going to make or break her business, then she needs to close the doors... read more

Our server (blonde lady) was kind of rude and after ordering our food and waiting an hour she came back to tell us they ran out of pasta!!!! And a lady was going to get more! So we waited and then 3 of employees kids come running out of the back. So unprofessional and shouldn't be in the kitchen. No apologizes either. They have a lot of potential for having good food but wow. Be more professional and have more cooks. The pizza guy was amazing though. The worst! DO NOT order from Gabbie's Pizza. We placed on order on line because their phone wasn't working. We paid $1 per item to place the order and was given a pick up time of 6:42-6:58. We had someone at the restaurant at 650. They were told the order was being put in then. At 7;40 when I called they owner didn't care that we had waited 90+ minutes for two pizzas and a fettuciini. He said they were busy because it's a holiday weekend. DO NOT take orders you can't complete and PLEASE be honest about wait times. There is NO WAY I would've waited 100 minutes for this crap. And to be treated by the owner like it should be a privilege was a slap in the face. Too many other pizza places that are better. Gabbie's sucks. read more

This hidden gem in the Pavillion at Port Orange serves some of the best pizza you'll find in the area. The crust is delicious and always perfectly prepared (never burned or doughy). The sauce is excellent--freshly prepared, tart, well-flavored--and we've never had an over-sauced pizza there. Their cheese pizza is the best we've found (and we've tried dozens of local places). Treat yourself (and it is a treat!) to their tomato-basil soup! It's thick and rich with a delicate cheesy taste and plenty of fresh pieces of basil throughout. Hubby loves the Italian combo sub, though he prefers it hot, not cold. House wine is currently the Crane Lake brand, which is better than many locally served house wines. We keep promising ourselves we are going to try the tiramisu or another dessert there, but we can never seem to save room! They do not offer delivery (though you can GrubHub, UberEats, or DoorDash an order), but pick-up is always quick, and we've rarely had to wait on an order--even then only a minute or two, perhaps because we arrived early. This is a family-owned restaurant, and it shows! Unfortunately the experience was clouded by a gentleman behind the counter who threatened to take my phone from me and break it in a million pieces, that it was date night and family time. I kept playing my card game as I had been before your started giving me crap. My husband, sitting next to me, is a veteran with hearing aids in both ears. When speaking with him, I have to speak louder than others might appreciate in a restaurant. You stood right in front of us and would have heard any of our discussion. I was not being rude, I played a game of cards on my phone while we waited. My husband was not upset. My phone is my work phone and it cost over $1,700 dollars. If you had acted on your unwarranted threat, I would have called the police and pressed charges. You were very far out of line. I told you after your comment that if you had done that it wouldn't have ended well for anyone. You should have minded your business. Two people sitting there quietly did not deserve your threat, and it was a threat. Use caution and mind your mouth. You never know who you are speaking with or their circumstance; you were a bully.
