    Toscano pizza
    Daisy Z.

Came here for dinner. Place was hopping. We had a short wait before being seated. Ordered a pizza to share and a special order pasta. Server was very friendly and service was good. We ordered the Toscano pizza - chicken, sundried tomatoes and spinach. Not much chicken meat on the pizza. Crust was thicker than what we expected but tasted great. The spaghetti with olive oil and garlic tasted good despite swimming in olive oil! Also had the tiramisu for dessert. Was decent.

The best Italian wedding soup in the area hands down.

The only place I will eat thin crust extra crispy PIZZA. The only place that feels like Chicago pizza thin crust. Everyone I bring loves it TOO.... A MUST TRY.

Small 10" Pizza: Sausage, jalapeño, onion - with extra sauce under the cheese. Perfectly crispy & chewy down to the last slice! ($13.75)

Whoa! Genovese's doesn't mess around. When their pizza chefs are *on* here, this is the real deal crispy & chewy, masterfully crafted thin-crust pizza with the perfect little blisters on the edge of the crust that signal that you've found the highest level of pizza baking. They're a little inconsistent though, as I had an amazing pizza on Tuesday at lunchtime, and yesterday's was not as amazing - a bit more haphazard and much less artisanally satisfying. When Genovese's is *on*, this is the kind of pizza that doesn't rely on toppings to stand out. Instead, it's all about the balance of the slices (they don't droop or sag) and the texture and taste of the crust that 99% of other pizza stores in frankly, the world - could learn a thing or two from. I stayed in an AirBnb down the street while on vacation and my host declares Genovese's as their favorite pizza spot in the region. So I gave it a shot and am really glad I did! Pizza doesn't typically jive with my daily diet but I DGAF if it's worth it - and the pie I received on Tuesday was SO worth it. To be clear, this is not the boring and predictable Neapolitan-style pizza that popped up everywhere in the 2000s. This is essentially New York City style - the kind that relies on the exact alkalinity of the water one bakes with. The kind of dough care that produces the greatest bagels on Earth. Last Tuesday I experienced that level of magic from the pizza kitchen at Genovese's. I'm excited to try their other food - maybe on my 4th or 5th visit... but for now, their pizza has earned my attention!

We started with the cod fritters and chorizo. The chorizo comes with a live flame presentation then is served with a perfectly soft potato. The chorizo flavor was good, but there were pieces of fat that were hard and a little offputting, in the future I would skip this. The cod fritters I havent had that good in years. The fish is prepared properly and the sauce paired with it completes it. A little after, decided to add the special picanha and shrimp on a hot stone, and they asked if I'd like to do it myself, of course! The picanha was so tender, no matter what level cook you are, you can't screw it up. Even if you were the WORST cook, the stones will drop in temp before you can make it too well done accidentally. It was like butter. And that was before I poured butter on it. I apologize that I forgot the name of the chicken dish, but it was amazing, show them a picture or ask for the chicken in capers sauce. At first, I was dipping my veggies in this sauce, a very silky salty creamy sauce. That was until the steak came out. The Steak Madeira sauce was so good we were bouncing back and fourth it was impossible to choose. There was so much food in front of us at one point it was being unbelievably lost in flavor. Despite being filled to the brim, and trying to wash it down with delicious house sangria - we still opted for dessert. This cheeaecake icecream thing, I had no idea what to expect from the description, but it was so layered. Delicious crust, velvety texture of the icecream, blueberries and even more crust in the center that was a huge surprise. I also want to say, the staff is so hands on. Kind helpful staff rounds out any experience and makes it wonderful. This is a MUST in the Orange City/Daytona area. I will be back!

I am an avid fine diner and have had many experiences in Italian fine dining. As a party of 8, we booked two reservations of 4 due to the limited reservations online. No problem at all. As we arrived we requested to be seated near each other, as there were 4 top tables available next to each other. The host informed us that they did not want us interacting as it would disturb the vibe. To assume that we don't understand proper etiquette was a bit insulting. As we sat in the basement, it felt like we were getting seated for a church dinner. The fake stained glass and outdated carpeting was incredibly tacky, as well as the dirty piece of paper requesting restraint from cell phone use (as pictured). Other than the strange indoor decor, and the host demeaning our party, the food did not disappoint. We enjoyed the carpaccio, pasta, veal scallopine, lamb, and chocolate desserts. Everything was delicious. I was unaware when booking that they do not have a liquor license. I came to find out when I ordered an espresso martini. The wine list was decent and I decided upon an Amarone which was the perfect compliment to dinner. Overall, it was decent due to the food, but the vibe was very strange and didn't feel upscale whatsoever. Service was fine, nothing exceptional.
