We've seen a steady decline even before the pandemic at Gabe's, formerly known as Gabriel Brothers. They used to have slightly misprinted clothing items, clothing samples, overages, and apparel from previous seasons. It was a cheaper version of TJ Maxx/Marshalls and Ross Dress for Less. Now, the majority of the merchandise is Amazon returns. I've even seen knockoff items. We used to have fun shopping at Gabe's. We'd find college and university apparel. Seriously, look through my old photos that I previously shared. Now, nothing, Gabe's, why change what worked? Why does it feel like Goodwill is more organized? Each visit worsens, and few shoppers or cars are in the lot. Finally, I've noticed the same response from Gabe's repeatedly with reviews on Yelp and another site. The bottom line is that "sharing our reviews to improve our shopping experience in the future" isn't worth a grain of salt if you don't fix the problem. read more

I purchased an Evo Vac Cleaner in October and today in Dec it stopped working, I only started using it around 3 weeks ago. I have the receipt, packaging etc but since it is past the 30 days I was told it was not returnable even for instore credit. So I am out around $82.00. They have lost a customer and I will be telling everyone in my family, friends, co-workers etc about my experience. I use to tell everyone how great Gabes was. Not happening anymore read more

This experience was horrible. There were clothes everywhere and belts, boggins, and underwear in the floor where you couldn't even walk. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE. Go to a goodwill or Salvation Army or any trade store and used clothes place before you step foot in this store. read more

This place is just like Marshall's or TJ Maxx. You can find everything from rugs, wall art, beach equipment, toothpaste, dog toys and food, clothing, shoes, luggage, makeup, and there's even a soda and snacks section. It's extremely unorganized though so you do have to do a fair amount of digging to find your size when searching through the clothes. There are a lot of clearance sections throughout the store and plenty of name brand goods. Overall, I'd go back if I were in the area, but I wouldn't take my kid. I took my 11 year old and she was bored and whining within the first 5 minutes of me digging through the clothing section. read more

I was very disappointed. Hours can vary, it says that it closed at 11:00 pm and I arrived there at 10:00pm .I got to the door and there where workers standing by the door and they didn't acknowledge that I was standing there. Seriously the most rude staff. The lady went on to say "why is she dating there " I said loudly because the hours say 11:00pm. I said why are you closed ? She says.. because we are having difficulty. Like what???!, you have more than 5 workers what difficulty??!!, at least you can put a sign or explain nicely what's going on. No explanation. I think they are just lazy workers that don't want to work. Mind as well hire a ton of robots than can do a better job and probably provide better customer service. Those workers should be fired and collect unemployment like everyone else in the US. I'm a human and deserve respect. read more

This is a great discount place to shop. I was there last night and they had a excellent sale and I bought many shirts for unbelievable discounted prices. I think this is one of those places you have to be patient and go through everything because some items may be put back in the sizes above or below the size you need. I saw many items that were good brands and the prices were exceptionally priced. I mostly stayed in the men's section since I was looking for a present and the prices were so good I could buy three shirts for the price I usually spend on just one. I will make this store a more frequent stop in the future! read more

This used to be a great place to get great bedding and clothes at very good prices. Now, not so much. It's still worth checking it out before spending big bucks somewhere else. But, lately I've not been finding much. A while ago they used to regularly have 800 thread count sheets (queen) sets for $30 to $40. Now they seem to have promarily microfiber sheets. I'm spoiled... microfiber sheets are like sleeping on soft plastic...yeech! The clothing selection has also gone way down... not much good at very high prices. Sometimes there is still a reasonable find, so I give them a low 3 stars. This is my observation, your's may be different. read more

Always great customer service. Very helpful staff. Great prices especially if you catch the markdowns. I just left there and they have a good size Christmas department if you're looking for holiday decor. They also have a good selection of toys for kids of all ages. read more

Unbelievable! No holiday, no sales, nothing! At LEAST 25 people in line and only THREE cashiers. I came at Christmas time and it wasn't this bad. I swear I will NOT be back. The store is sloppily kept and I've yet to see a sales person. Management SUCKS at this store. read more

Great bargains .. Store was totally disheveled and dirty this visit. I think the Ross stores or at least the one I visited was much cleaner than the Lexington Gabriel bros. A broom and some spring cleaning wouldn't hurt. Also a very weird musty smell this visit. I'm wondering if the bargains are enough to keep visiting the store though. Basically its like goodwill only the clothes haven't been worn already; ,super messy, rude clientele, and line going out the door because they don't put enough cashiers at the registers. But some of the prices are unbeatable, so worth at least a glimpse inside. read more

I went in with the intention of walking out with an outfit for the evening. I definitely did that, and got out pretty inexpensively work not only an outfit, but a cute pair of sunglasses too! Go in with a thrift store mindset if you've never been here before. The racks aren't necessarily organized properly--meaning the sizing is probably off and the labels don't always mean anything. Be prepared to dig around. It's stupid cheap, lower quality digs. I kind of feel like you have to work to really walk away with something great. Big downsides on the day I went... There weren't enough cashiers available. There were clearly plenty of staff on schedule, but there were only two cashiers with a line that ended up being almost fifteen transactions deep. What was worse was that they were both very chatty, and took a long time to handle each transaction because of their conversations with each and every person in line. I really don't have an issue with this inherently, but when there's only two cashiers dealing with a lot of people at once, it seems pretty tactless. I also found this ADORABLE sandle that...didn't have a match. I was so bummed. The staff couldn't help me either. There's not really any organization in this store other than dragging the next pallet in and laying it out. They could benefit from an extra shift every day that's organization exclusively. read more

This store is usually pretty disorganized. But check out has never been a problem for me so it doesn't bother me too much. Mostly junk, however you can find some nice things in clothes. I usually go here for womens intimates and mens clothing, sometimes womens jeans. Finding shoes here is the absolute WORST because everything is 100% scattered and you can't find sizes organized. But it's worth looking. I've found a lot of the other customers that go here to be kind of sketchy sometimes also.. Like most stores, inventory varies. Disheveled large discount store with employees that are not dressed professionally. You probably can find some good deals here (I found some nice Jessica Simpson panties), but you will have to wade through piles of cheaply made merchandise. I think that Ross and Marshalls are better than GB. I find this store to be a little sad. read more

if you are looking to save some $$ and you don't mind looking through most of section in the store for what you are looking for then this is a good place to start. The store is clean and most of the workers here are nice. I purchased a pair of boots last night at the Lexington, KY store. The person that checked me out was really nice. My daughter picked up the wrong size so I had to return them. We had 15 minutes to get back to Gabe's to return them. I walked through door and the employee would not take the shoes, she said we close in 5 minutes. I replied, "I know but I know what I'm getting". She was rude! While we were getting the right size shoes, another employee said, "we close in 5 minutes". Maybe they were tired!!! I also work part-time in a department store and sometimes customers are walking in the door with 5 minutes to spare. You still have to treat customers with respect. If it wasn't for the customers, we would not have a job. I understand that when it is time to get off, you want to leave, but you still treat your customers kindly. read more
