His crew started painting and making repairs on December 5. The job included painting the interior and exterior of my home, two porches and a deck and the exterior of my detached garage. They also painted my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. In addition, they replaced damaged wood siding on home and garage, replaced laundry room doors, cabinet pulls, resurfaced bathroom tub and surround, recarpeted bedroom, installed new attic stairs, 7 smoke detectors and repaired termite damage in one bedroom. They finished all this work and did a walkthrough in record time on January 12. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with Jonathan and his crew! He discussed the scope of what I wanted, and we made an appointment (within a week!) to meet so he could look at it in person. Again, when he came out, I got a really solid sense that this man knew what he was doing. He didn't radiate charm or try to impress me, and that impressed me. I asked why I should have the old tile replaced, rather than sealing the cracks with, say, caulk, and he explained the downside to that (cheap) solution. He explained in detail the steps that his workers would take to remove the old tile and then install new waterproof barrier and the new tile. He gave me options--did I want a niche? What kind of grout did I want to use? Did I want to replace the shower? And he talked about price. Then he went back to his office and sent me a statement of work for approval. Then he sent me a quote, with a reminder of the unknowns involved that could change the costs. He scheduled the job about two weeks out, and recommended The Tile Shop for tile. They were very helpful (see my review of The Tile Shop). His workers were very professional, and they even taped plastic over the open walls when they finished removing the tile, so we could use the tub over the weekend. The installation went well, especially as we had to wait a day for the plumber to install the new shower. By the end of the next week it was complete and the grout was curing. I am so happy with Durrant Services, I am having them do other repairs on my roof and siding as well.

He did not win the bid, but only because I had previously dealt with a contractor for the other company and decided to go with them. I explained this to Mr. Young and he was very gracious about it. He is a go-getter with a great attitude, knows what he's talking about, and I recommend that you give him a shot at your next roofing project.

Austin Commercial Roofing came out to give me an estimate to fix a leak I showed them. It was…read morepricey but they said there was a 10 year warranty. So I paid them for the job. A few days later it rained and it leaked in the same exact spot. They said it was another point of entry and refused to take care of the leak I hired them to fix. They want more money to fix what they were supposed to fix in the first place. Now the carpet is getting moldy from all the rain we had and they won't even come out to take a look unless I pay them nore money. So the leak is not fixed and I have no 10 year warranty... The pictures show how bad the job was done. I would have not hired them if I knew they were not going to fix the leak.

The screw ups where to many to mention here but the highlights are: Misaligned and crooked grout lines, Tiles not flush, exhaust fan not vented thru roof. And to top it off they did not pull a permit for the electrical or plumbing. They even hid a junction box behind the sheetrock in a wall ( this is a major NEC violation). I had to hire a master electrician to come in and fix the wiring. i did get compensation back from lowes after the store manager finally came out to look at the horrible install. This is not a good company to do business with!

I actually found out about them when I asked our neighbor for information about the painters they used for their home. They replied that they weren't happy with the company they used and that they had wished they had used HSP. We asked HSP to provide us with a bid. All three bids we received were comparable in price and materials used, and all had favorable reviews. We went with HSP because the project manager Michael really seemed to care about the job. We are very glad that we did. After working with HSP there were two things that set this company apart IMO. The first was the quality of the work that Rigo and Miguel did. It was impeccable, they did so much prep work prior to actually painting that at the end of the job my wife and I noticed one brushstroke on our exterior ceiling fan. That's it! The neighbor I referenced earlier made the comment " If our painters had done half as much prep work as yours did we wouldn't have had the issues that we did." The second was what the company did when there was a "hiccup", and there are ALWAYS little things with jobs like this. Whether it's the weather, paint color not what you expected, etc... Whenever there was a "hiccup" Michael was three things, communicative about it and proactive in getting it resolved quickly. We also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner PJ and found that he had the same positive qualities. In closing, HSP provides a quality job at a fair price and they make it right if there is an issue. At the end of the day that's all you can ask for in a contractor and why we can recommend this company without reservation.
