We absolutely love Gabrieles. Currently, we have two children who attend karate classes. My oldest, 13, has been going to the dojo for almost 7 years now (since he was 6), and my youngest, 7, for just over 2 years. We originally signed up my oldest, at the urging of his developmental pediatric team, after he was diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, anxiety, SPD, and a coordination disorder at 5. We now know that the OCD diagnosis was incorrect, and he is actually on the autism spectrum. At the time we signed our oldest up, he had so much anxiety, so little confidence, struggled with coordination, and cried all the time. From the start, the staff at Gabrieles treated him like their own. They got him out on that mat, and no matter how many struggles he had, they were kind, caring, patient, and compassionate. They never singled him out, never treated him different. They learned pretty quick how to recognize when he was overwhelmed and how to help him, knew when to back off, and knew when to challenge him. They never gave up on him, and in fact, have been his cheerleaders since the beginning. Because of them, he is thriving. I remember when we first started him in karate, a family member actually asked us why we would even sign him up "because he'd never be able to focus long enough to pay attention". Needless to say, I am glad we never listened, because it was the best thing we ever did. He went from an anxiety-ridden child to a confident one, who has not only earned his 1st degree black belt, but his 2nd degree as well. He's had to work harder and practice longer than his neurotypical classmates, but that hard word has paid off and he is so proud of himself and everything he has accomplished. To watch him practice with his classmates today, you'd never know how far behind those same classmates he was at age 6 emotionally and physically, and I credit the staff at Gabrieles for always sticking by him, even on his hard days. They've never once treated him like he can't do something, but have instead, always taught him that through hard work and perseverance, that he absolutely CAN, and that is the best lesson he can learn. That he CAN. That he is CAPABLE. Even when he is having a hard day. And now, little brother, who is also ADHD and possibly on the spectrum, is learning the same lessons, and I can't wait to see where his karate journey takes him as well. read more

Our 11-year-old daughter absolutely loves her karate classes, and all her very knowledgeable and professional instructors! She has only been with Gabrieles Martial Arts for 6 months now and was so excited to have already achieved her gold belt. I love this place! I've been going there for over three years and I get the best workout. The kickboxing classes are a great mix of cardio and strength training, and it's gotten me to be in the best shape of my life. The instructors there are so passionate about what they do and bring a great energy to class. I also started taking jiu jitsu classes there two years ago and I've got to say, before I started, I felt vulnerable and completely unable to protect myself.
