When I mentioned tracks was told they come with the kit and not taking them would only save $25. I'm like "really?" There are several garage door companies in town, all with comparable products/pricing. Take a tip from a small business owner--when you screw up the correct response is: "I am so sorry we dropped the ball on this, Mr. XXXX, be assured we are going to go the extra mile to make up for it. We've ALWAYS had little annoyances with our gate motor, and for the past 3 years we just assumed the assorted quirks were just part of owning one - or should I say that the original installer convinced us of such (blaming most things on the manufacturer, and the environment). Well after our gate took a total dump on us the wife handed me a number one night and told me "you need this guy" (she made this decision based solely on his website, so I took her insistence of hiring him with a grain of salt, but chose not to argue with her, as any good husband would). Well, she was right, as usual. Not only did Jacob get our gate operational, he made it better then ever! He found every reasons the gate was occasionally misbehaving all these years due to the "creative wiring" done by the "fence guy" I hired to originally install it all. Jacob explained and showed me all the reasons, then he cleaned up the wiring, moved some things around, changed some programming, and voila, just like that every thing was delightful! The gate magically swang so smoothly after he had his magic hands in the "mystery box" (as my wife calls it)! The gate has been working to perfection for weeks now! Theresa, the woman I spoke to at their office, ensured me that there would be proffesionals working on this project and gave me a hefty but reasonable quote based on the projected hours that the 2 men would spend building the shed. The quote was around $2,000 and it was constantly repeated that the price was based on the hourly rate. Honestly that's a pretty steap price for building a shed. I had no free time to do this project on my own as I was planning a wedding, still in the process of moving, and preparing for a baby to be born on top of my full time job. I now wish that I bit the bullet on that one and did it myself because I would have saved myself $3,600. These proffesionals were constantly complaining about the manual and claiming that the instructions were wrong (in my line of work this is common for people that just can't figure it out and want to blame the product for their own lack of understanding). If it was hard to understand, I don't get why they sent 6 different people to work on this thing, anyone who's led a project in construction before knows that when things get handed to other people constanly it gets messy, and the new people have to play catch up trying to pick up where the last people left off. This makes sense when you realize that they make more based on how long they take on the project. Not only this but there are several spots where screws are supposed to go where there aren't, meaning on the finished product there are gaps between the floor and the walls. I understand that it's hot outside and sometimes the heat can take a lot out of you, but as someone who works on residential and commercial air conditioners for a living (meaning spending the bulk of time on rooftops or attics where the heat is amplified), the guys could suck it up. It honestly seemed like most of the time when I checked on the guys working on the shed, they were either reading the manual for excessive periods of time, complaining about the heat, or complaining about how some auto shop was trying to screw them over by selling them an overpriced service. (Ironic, huh). The property owner here where I live also reported to me that there were pieces of our seperate project that were taken by the individuals working on the project. I don't doubt that we'll get them back, but I do feel that it's worth mentioning. All in all the job did get done, the shed absolutely did get built, but they dragged their feet a bit, I paid way more than initially planned, and the final product could have been a little more refined.
