He's the most selfish, money minded doctor we have ever met. His only goal is to get his patients into surgery, endoscopy or colonoscopy. Zero sympathy for patients even if they are facing difficult health diagnosis. When I tried to move to a different GI, his office refused to transfer my records. They went to the extent of saying that I was never their patient even after he did all my procedures and his name is all over my records and test results. The receptionist, Rebecca is equally unsympathetic, unorganized and rude. Dr is constantly an hour behind his appointment schedule. Every appointment I've had 40 minutes in he pokes his head in and apologizes for the wait and then makes me wait longer. The first time I met Dr Gadol was after my wife had a upper and lower scope. The doctor that was doing the lower scope had asked Dr Gadol to do the upper. When he met us in the recovery room he showed us what he had done, explained what we were looking at in the pictures, and was genuinely concerned that Mari (my wife) was doing better. He showed a great deal of compassion and care, and I was genuinely impressed. Fast forward a couple of years and I had to have my gall bladder removed. After the procedure, I started having all sorts of issues. Dr Gadol was again recommended, and I remembered him from Mari's procedure. When I visited Dr Gadol for my conditions, he impressed me with the thoroughness of the examination. After several tests, he identified the problem and we have been adjusting medications and diet to mitigate the situation, with a high degree of success. Honestly, the issues I have now are when I stray from the dietary restrictions too far. He has helped both my wife an I with our issues and done it with the highest degree of professionalism, care, and compassion. He listens to you, answers your questions, and tries very hard to accommodate you. When I was having some serious problems, he moved his schedule around so I could get in the next morning. No wait 2 weeks for an opening with Dr Gadol. If you have problems, he'll do his darndest to get you seen. If you are in need of a great gastroenterologist, I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Gadol. I took my 82 year old mother to a colonoscopy appointment with Dr. Gadol this week. This review is entirely about bedside manner, something you may or may not care about. The morning of the appointment, she called saying she was cancelling because she wasn't able to drink the entire quantity of what was required. She was instructed to come in anyway. I interacted with Dr. Gadol for maybe 5 minutes while in recovery with my mother. I found his bedside manner abhorrent, and will share as objectively as I can: 1) My still sedated mother attempted to make a joke about wishing she could have had less of the solution to drink. He responded, straight faced, "If we wanted you to drink less, we would have instructed you to drink less. Everyone was to drink the same amount before arriving." This sounded like a scolding, but before I could respond he had moved on. 2) He asked me if I needed a colonoscopy, and I responded "no." He then asked how old I am (under 50) and said that was okay. As I read this I can see how it might sound like nothing, but his manner of speaking was erudite. I wish I had said none of your business. 3) He referenced my father and the date of his last colonoscopy. My mother remarked that it was two months to the day since her husband of 61 years had died. He responded: "I know, you told me." in a tone of boredom, (More surprising because he brought him up.) 4) He spoke so fast to my mother that I could hardly understand him. Very bored and very fast. Good thing he's (hopefully) smart/a good doctor, because he lacks social skills. read more

Dr. Gadol's staff was prompt and courteous in returning my call to schedule an appointment. The doctor spent time with me and asked many questions to understand what I was experiencing. Two procedures were scheduled and Dr. Gadol told me to call if I had any questions or problems before the procedures. When the prep solution made me sick and I needed to find out what to do, the doctor himself called me back within minutes. He does not rush and asks clarifying questions to be sure he gets as much information about what is going on with you as possible. Appointments are never even close to on time. You can expect to wait 45 minutes to an hour and a half or more after your scheduled appointment time before you're brought and to a room. Once you get to the room you'll wait another 30 to 45 minutes. Aside from the ridiculous wait times, at first the doctor seemed pretty cool. I scheduled an had a colonoscopy. It went well but after that, the doctor's attitude seems to have changed. I had an appointment after the colonoscopy. It was uneventful. Just a follow up to the procedure. They wanted me to schedule another one but I was feeling fine. None of my other gastroenterologist required follow ups after previous colonoscopies so I never made another appointment until later. I was going through some litigation, and needed a statement from Steve about my intestinal health. He said he would charge for the service but did not know the total without having completed the form that my attorney ask him to fill out. This information was needed for a hearing coming up. It took about 3 months for me to get the final report. Of course Steve refuse to talk to me on the phone personally, and his assistants could only say what he told them to say which was usually he's not done with it. I believe there were 12 questions on the form. After I got I copy of the completed questions, I saw that answers that would be key in my hearing were often wrong. It was as if he was looking at someone else's chart while answering my questionnaire. Consequently, I could not use the questionnaire after Steven completed it.
