Nice local park in far south Tampa. I came here with my daughter and my dog. We followed the Google map directions, and we ended up parking just about as far away from the dog park as one can park (if you don't want to circumnavigate the lake, enter the Interbay Little League area off MacDill, and follow the signs to the dog run parking lot). There's a well-kept, paved path around the lake, and there are a few benches here and there to rest and look at the water. The path is not shaded, so be forewarned. The dog park is pretty nice. There are three fenced areas: one for small dogs, one for regular dogs, and one that is for more aggressive dogs. We went into the largest area, which had dogs of all sizes, but all the dogs were good natured. My pup loved running around with all the friendly dogs. The area seemed pretty clean (there are dog bag dispensers and trashcans strategically placed around the area, and owners seemed conscientious.) there was a doggie water fountain, which was a nice touch. There were muddy areas, but who doesn't expect to have to bathe your dog after going to the dog park? There were a few picnic tables for the owners to use, and there were some trees for shade. read more

This is a really nice park with a paved, concrete trail that goes around the lake. The park backs up into MacDill Air Force Base so it's easy tp find. Along the trail, there are benches to sit, relax, and look at the water. There was an equal balance between shaded areas and being in full sun. There are little workout stations there too and a nice dog park. I saw some interesting wildlife the day that I went. There were a lot of dragonflies just fluttering around. I also saw some pretty, bold squirrels, too. The dogs enjoyed chasing the squirrels up the tree and the squirrels seem to enjoy taunting the dogs. I saw families with little ones, small groups, and individuals walking, jogging, and biking. They stayed a safe distance from one another so that we could all comfortable enjoy the day. This is a great little neighborhood park! I will definitely return. read more

What's not to like about the park? The trail goes around the park perimeter with the lake to the west and baseball fields to the east. Shaded part is mostly on the north side closer to the houses and by the ball fields but then open on the side bordering MacDill AFB and the wire topped fence. The main MAFB access road isn't the most interesting view when looking for a nature walk. Pretty easy walk and many use the trail for jogging or dog walking. Parking is easy around the park. So ... It would be nice to have a few more trees along the trail for shade in the often hot sunny days. There are a few benches along the trail and picnic tables by the ball fields for those who need to sit a spell. read more

Great park in South Tampa within walking distance from MacDill AFB! this park has a wonderful dog park, softball fields, walking trail, fitness equipment, and fishing. I take my puppy here from time to time in the morning and we always have a great time. The parking situation is good. The park is safe and I haven't seen any unsavory crowds loitering around. Good park for ball for ball fields with refreshments during league games. Nice running/walking trail around lake. New toddler playground just put in by the city. Dog run area split up between small and large dogs but grass is gone and it is basically a sand pit. This park has so much room and potential for new equipment and additions (i.e. party pavilions, splash pad, swing sets and such). Great hidden gem! Spending the past 4 years in Tallahassee, i was spoiled with beautiful trails and walking paths so I'm always on the hunt for a good spot in Tampa. This park is a nicely paved, clean and quiet trail. There are fitness stations along the way, benches and a lake in the middle. Parts of it are shaded (if you go all the way around the whole loop) but most of the trail around the lake is not. Just the lake loop is about 1 mile and the whole loop is around 2 Miles (give or take) If you enter the park on Himes (drive until it dead ends) there are a couple dirt spots. There were more spots if you enter at the main entrance. There were a couple softball fields and a dog park. Also, across from those dirt parking spots was a continuation of the trail. It goes about .3 miles out to the main road which is the entrance to the base. The park is right up against the base so there is some traffic but it's nestled in a neighborhood so it feels more secluded. Definitely will be back for a workout! read more

So, it's a park. I'd like to leave it at that, but then how will I get any helpful votes? As far as parks go, it's a pretty good one. There is a large lake and a couple of jogging paths totalling about 1.7 miles I think. A bunch of baseball fields nearby, too. Best part about this park though - for you with any furkids - are the 3 separately fenced in dog runs. All 3 are really big with plenty of space for lots of dogs and each has fountains and bowls and buckets for water. We brought our foster puppy (8 months old) here, and he had a blast. Ran himself into the ground and played with other dogs while we rested in the shade (of which there is a lot). Quick tip - do not plug the address from Yelp into google maps. It will take you to a dead end street, and while there is parking nearby, it is a walk to the dog parks. It's not that the address is wrong, but there is a W Marcum St that dead ends off of HImes (this is where google takes you) and the continues again off of MacDill. Google takes you to the dead end. There is also a W Marcum off of W Bay Haven Drive, also off of Macdill (one block south of W Marcum that is off of MacDill. Best bet if you are with your furry friend is to go to the entrance to the park off of W Bay Haven and follow the road around to the right to the parking lots by the dog parks. I'm going 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason, and that's some of the other patrons. There were some medium sized dogs running around when we got there, and we thought our puppy would like to play with them. However, when we went to open that gate, the owner of those dogs stopped us and said her dogs don't get along with other dogs. Essentially, she was trying to reserve one of the dog areas just for her dogs. Thankfully, there were 2 others, but who did this woman think she was? If you have dogs that don't get along with other dogs, then you don't bring them to a public dog park. read more

My dog has a lot of energy, being a puppy and all. Some days I want him to get rid of said energy and meet new dog friends, so I take him to the dog park. We stopped at Gadsden to run around and I was pleasantly surprised at just how much space there is for the dogs to run around here. Gadsden is a much larger dog park than I am used to. The facilities seem decently kept -- it's not a particularly gorgeous park by any means, but when your dog is zooming all over the place and having a good time with his four-legged friends, it doesn't really need to be the prettiest place in the world. Truman met lots of other dogs and they all played and seemed to have a fun time. There is fresh water for the dogs which is wonderful since the Florida sun can be very hot and it can make the pooches quite thirsty! This was a nice little dog park -- I enjoy Davis Island, but Truman was very sandy when he left there and he didn't get too dirty at Gadsden which was great for me and the back seat of my car. read more

I just love being able to access nice park large and small. This particular park has baseball fields connected and a decent running/walking/biking trail Fishing is allowed at the pond and of course there's signs posted with the regulations on when to and not to keep certain fish. There's also a dog park so it's a perfect location for the family to get out with their dogs. I've gotten some amazing photos at this park from morning to evening shots. The squirrels are a bit friendly due to them being fed by other patrons. Please make sure to bring grapes, nuts,sunflower seeds and even strawberries (just a few options from a long list of safe food options for them) if you decide to feed them. If you're in the area visit this park and enjoy a little nature. read more

What a great dog park! I think this is my new favorite dog park. There are two enormous large dog areas, and a separate third area for small dogs. The dog park is in great shape, and even though we had tremendous amounts of rain, there's no standing water or mud puddles. There's plenty of grass for the dogs to run, play, and chase toys. This park has a lot of seating, and plenty of shade for those blazing hot summer days in the Sunshine State. Also, there's a pretty good water/rinsing station. Other than having a great dog park, this park also has giant wide-open grassy areas for activities or a picnic, several ball fields, centrally located restrooms, a nice kids playground, a couple of pavilions with grills and plenty of seating for a big party, and a decent walking trail (just from what I noticed during my short visit). Even after the copious amount of rain we've had, there wasn't any evidence of flooding or standing/stagnant water. read more

A great little walking trail with restrooms and water fountains. There are about 3 softball fields here as well. People come and walk their dogs or bring them to the dog park there. The park has a fence to the one side due to being beside Macdill Air Force Base. During certain times of the day you can see the big military planes fly overhead coming in for a landing. Did I mention there is also a lake that you can go fishing? This park has it all. read more

We make a stop here often. We often bring some bread to feed the fish off the dock on the large lake. For those that fish there.. you're welcome. We love taking a walk around the lake and the kids can normally ride a bike without having to many people to get in their way. There are several stations along the trail to circuit train. But we never use it. Not only does this park have a great dog park. You'll also find softball games going on. This place doesn't have a large playground. But that's never stopped us from continuing to visit. It's great place to come for a stroll and enjoy some nature. read more

This was a great dog park! There's three sections of the dog park so small breeds can play together if they're not fans of the larger dogs. There are also water bowls for the pups and a drinking fountain for the owners. It could use some restrooms and better lighting for the evening but it's got plenty of room and shad for all of the dogs. read more

Gadsen Park is conveniently located close to my neighborhood, so I can walk, run or stroll my baby around the around the park in the morning or evening. It does get a little buggy around the lake, so bring bug spray. I have not used the dog park, quite yet, but I will one day soon. It is about 1.5 miles around the lake. I see people fish or feed the birds at the lake. They do have baseball fields and a picnic area. read more

This review is for the dog park. This park has gone downhill recently. We have had a bad experience every time we go. Either, unattended dogs that are bullies or rude owners that switch sides of the park when they see your dog coming (I have a small but playful dog - not aggressive looking at all). The park itself has very little grass areas it's mostly dry dirt/sand and in the direct heat. There are some shady parts. The benches are old and falling apart. The one nice thing is there is plenty of water around for the dogs to drink. read more

This is our go to spot when we need our boy Tom to get his run on. We try to stay in the middle dog park area however when there are other dogs in the larger area we let him play there. It is the dirtier side but has plenty of room to run. It is a nice dog park in a pinch and my only complaint is the lack of shade. Not much to be done about that. If you catch it on the right day you can see jets taking off and landing as well as airborn guys jumping. There is also four to five wild parrots that hang around. When the breeze hits just right you can allow yourself to forget about any stresses that you may have. read more

Luna loves this dog park and so do I. It's huge and has 3 separate gated areas. There's lots of space for her to run or play with other dogs. The park is pretty clean and most people pick up after themselves and their dogs. I like this park because it is close and easily accessible from my house. I bring Luna her own dog bowl because the big buckets look like a little slimy but they do have hoses and spouts to fill them up which is also a huge plus. read more

Not lighted much at dusk/dark but it's nice for a jog/walk/run/bike or just sitting by the water. You can watch the air base traffic or some of the Tampa Club Sports games that go on frequently. They also have little league games, very cute! read more

This park has everything! There's a pond with alligators, a dog park, a paved trail that's great for running, walking or cycling, and some playground equipment for kids. There's a huge grassy area, trees, and an outdoor gym type area with monkey bars, pull up bars, parallel bars, and some other bars. I haven't had any bad experiences per say in the dog park, but I've heard a lot of crazy stories... I've seen a lot of dog walker bring dogs here to run off some energy... I see a lot of reviews that rave about the location and the facilities. Let me tell you something about the social environment. This is not the place to take your dog on weekday evenings, unless you have a big dog that has alpha tendencies. A group of several men, the"regulars", bring a variety of large-breed, mostly male dogs that can be unpredictably aggressive while their owners chat with each other. German shepherds, Shepherd mixes, Dobermans, and large breed mixes make up the bulk of the dogs. I have seen many "newer" dogs of smaller size get roughed up by the larger breeds with no intervention by their owners. And this is in the section (the one with the sand) that the most socialized, least aggressive dogs are supposed to be in. In short, at this time of the week the park has a vibe that suggests the following: Your dog had better be able to keep with the "big boys", or it would probably be better off (along with you) going to another park. read more
