Be cautious of this Dentist Office! The sole reason I return is due to the quality of dentists they employ. As far as front desk service and pricing, unprofessional and deceitful!!! Please thoroughly review the charges you are being billed. Every time I visit, they consistently overcharge me by a few hundred dollars and it is extremely challenging to obtain a refund. They charge whatever they please, regardless of what your insurance states they should charge you. Verify the charges with your insurance; the amount your insurance states you need to pay is the correct cost. All dental offices have contracts or agreements with insurance companies that specify the exact cost per procedure and they must adhere to these prices. The office manager, Zoila, is aware of this but disregards it and overcharges because she knows that the majority of the patients either don't speak English or don't know how to check. She exploits our low-income community and its residents. Even when you return and complain, she refuses to help and do the right thing. I've always had to contact their Sherman Oaks office (Southland Dental, 818-788-4788) and speak with Ana for my refunds. So far, Ana has been helpful and refunded the overcharges but it's always a mission to get ahold of her. I'm genuinely puzzled by the owner, Dr. Michael Abaian, continuing to employ these crooked Office Managers but I guess they are making him money!!! read more

Well, to start, I must tell you all - DO NOT AVOID YOUR TEETH!!! I waited 4-5 years to get my teeth taken care of (I had a liver transplant and wasn't allowed to have dental work done) and I've been using toothpicks after every single thing I ate for almost 5 years!!! What a pleasure it is to eat without having to dig into my gums with those hard plastic toothpicks!!!! Anyway, I heard about this place from my friend and even though it's far for me, I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised and it's my new home for all my dental needs!! Dr. Abaian is amazing with such a great demeanor about him and makes you feel calm and at home. I can't begin to explain what a great environment they work in - everyone is happy there and you can feel it!!! Joanna and Henry took really good care of me and even the front desk staff are really nice. I was also enchanted by the finance lady, her name starts with a Z (sorry I can't remember) who helped me figure out how to handle the money situation... all in all I am so pleased and I can't say enough what a great place this is. My dentist told me I should take my mom to see a periodontist for her gum issue. I was searching for a place that would take my mom's insurance and turns out this place does and have good reviews so I took my mom here for a consultation. Dr. Delaram Hanookai assessed my mom's situation, did x-ray, and gave us recommendation on next steps. I'm still debating if I should proceed just because of the price alone. Turns out insurance is not going to cover it since it's a "cosmetic" issue. I noticed this place has many staffs to assist you and they are nice and friendly. Although there are many staffs, I believe there's only two dentists here so I waited about almost 2 hours for just consultation alone with x-ray. I parked on the street and there is parking in the back. The place looks small from the front at first but it's actually pretty big when you go inside pass the lobby. They showed me a book with photos, samples of what they've done and the result looks good, if you can afford it. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE IS A SCAM, the people are rude, and they try to sell you products you don't need and at a price much higher than other places! We asked for a refund for a procedure that they haven't done and instead of giving it to us they held our money for two weeks until we kept pressing them and threatening to sue. Stay away from this place. After my dental X-rays the hygienist "provided a treatment plan for a deep cleaning because I had bacteria, etc" - having a background on Dental, I refused immediately since I didn't need a deep cleaning. I got to the dentist every 6 months , floss regularly and don't have any cavities. Also, the hygienist should not be responsible to provide a diagnosis to the patient. They need to improve their practices and adhere to the dental board protocols. Giving incorrect diagnosis for the purpose of charging your insurance is not profesional. I asked for my X-rays immediately and went to another office - my new dentist confirmed that I didn't need a deep cleaning and that bacteria was not present on my gums. Before I begin this revision of my first review let me say there is much more that I'm not even touching on in this revision. The fact that I started with such a high opinion that I gave it 5 stars initially and now would give zero stars if that were possible should say it all. Not only can I not recommend this place, but I recommend against going there, even if it's just a simple cleaning that's needed. When I first visited this office in 2017 it was spotless (which in a dental office I'd expect nothing less). Both dentists were very professional and everyone on their staff was extremely competent. I felt confident that I was in good hands. I returned for regular cleanings over the next few years and unfortunately what I saw over that period of time was a continuous rotating door of staff members and my dental health suffered due to both neglect and incompetence. One example, during COVID I had to return 5 times in 3 weeks to have temporary crowns replaced because they kept either falling out or literally falling apart. With the constant issues I dealt with in that short period, I rarely ate and when I did I didn't chew on that side at all, so I couldn't understand why the temporary crowns broke apart or wouldn't stay on, a few times it happened the same or the following day. Finally it reached a point that I was a week away from receiving the permanent crowns so I made the decision not to risk my physical or dental health by going back to have the temporaries put back on only to have them break apart or fall off. In the process of dealing with all that madness I arrived at the office a few times on time for my appointment and had to wait outside for more than half an hour because they were late opening. One of my many visits was first thing on a Monday morning in the beginning of the pandemic. Apparently the staff decided to leave the office dirty the Friday before when they closed and proceeded to clean after unlocking the door to let patients in that Monday morning. Mind you, that means the last time the office was cleaned, if at all the week before, was Thursday night or Friday morning. It sat filthy the entire weekend...during a pandemic! Not what you want to see in any type of medical office, but for me especially in my dentist's office! Unbeknownst to me at the time, one of the office staff tried to clean my teeth and the only thing she succeeded in was poking holes my gums. I later learned that she hadn't ever been to dental school, let alone had any hygienist training. I requested more than once that when it came time to get the permanent crown put on I wanted the dentist to do it. I made that clear, and in fact for one of the last appointments I showed up for to have the permanent crown done I was told when I got there that he wouldn't be in that day so I was forced to reschedule yet again. (They didn't even bother to attempt to call and let me know before I came). Thankfully for my next appointment the dentist was there, but he was actually going to allow the same person who didn't know how to clean my teeth to install the permanent crown! On the job training may work in sales and auto shops, but for God sakes not in a dental office on people's teeth! I thought she was just checking to see if the crown fit before the dentist put it on, but then she started to drill inside the crown. Thank goodness he caught it and was able to stop her. It turns out that may have been why the temporary crowns were falling apart in my mouth... she drilled them before fitting instead of afterwards! (Something I'm sure they probably teach in dental school). Anyway, that's my experience in dealing with this office over a few years. From beginning my experience with a highly competant staff to ending it with severe lack of professionalism and severe incompetence. Needless to say I haven't returned since my last visit during the pandemic so I don't know what it's like now but I can only hope he made replacements for a more competent staff. I'll never go there again and wouldn't recommend them. read more

It is understandable that most businesses are ONLY on the intention of making a profit and for desk reps to assure their checks get the most of any bonuses promised. I attempted for the desk rep to help me Rescind an authorization and rather said, "let the other clinic do it, it would be a WASTE of time for us to cancel any authorization ". The staff is supper friendly, everyone knows my name I always feel welcomed, the doctors are fast and efficient. From being greeted by the lady's, sorry I didn't get their names, at the front desk, getting my X-rays done, sitting down and reviewing their recommendations, and finally getting my deep cleaning done by the Dr. I was informed and aware throughout the entire process. I do not recommend this office. The owner of the office is great but is there only once a week and even when he's there he will pass you to his hired help. His staff seem unexperienced. They did a bridge on me and it caused vertigo. Even though I had gone 2 twice for the same issue, they said their work was well done and that it wasn't causing that issue. I went a third time, when the owner was there and sure enough, I wasn't crazy. By then all new staff was in the office. That was a good choice though. The staff he had before was mentally young. The receptionist rocks, always cheerful and willing to help. I wish my experience with them was more pleasant because they are so close to my house but I will not go to their office again. read more

They even failed to give her a copy of her own contract and still had the audacity to charge her a cancelation fee.
