I've been a customer of this company for many years, and they used to be great. Unfortunately, things have changed -- and not for the better. When I recently spoke with Nate at the Gainesville coin shop, I was told it could take 6-8 weeks to receive payment. That's extremely unusual in this industry. Most reputable dealers handle payments and deliveries within a few days, not months. It really feels like they're struggling with either inventory or cash flow issues, and that's a major concern for anyone buying or selling with them. The lack of stock and slow payouts are not what I'd expect from a trusted dealer. I paid with a credit card, so they know they're getting paid. These guys will not send the product, even after getting the money for the product, until it's been 10 weeks (their site says it 'may take up to 10 weeks to receive'). Do not buy from this place, you're not saving that much money. I had a very frustrating experience with Nate at Gainesville Coins I placed an order for PAMP gold bars and waited close to 15 weeks for fulfillment. During that time communication was inconsistent and unclear. Eventually I was told that the PAMP bars were not available and would not be available in the foreseeable future. I was offered a substitution for a Comex branded bar along with a $2 adjustment per bar. I proposed a larger adjustment because the retail prices between the products were different, which they declined. After that I stated I was willing to continue waiting for the original PAMP bars. Instead of allowing the order to remain open, they informed me they would be canceling the order and issuing a refund, stating their terms allow them to cancel an order at any time. I never requested a cancellation or refund and had already been waiting nearly four months. The biggest issue here was the communication and the handling of the order after such a long wait. Customers should be aware that orders can be canceled after extended delays even if you are willing to continue waiting for fulfillment. read more

This business's accreditation in the BBB was revoked by the BBB's Board of Directors due to failure by the business to adhere to the BBB requirement that Accredited Businesses meet and abide by. First (and ONLY) order with Gainesville coins I placed did not go well. They had sale on Silver Eagles that stated would ship approx. 3 weeks after confirmation of payment. Ordered July 5th, I was billed and my transaction CLEARED July 6th. Somebody called between 3-4 weeks later to confirm the information, said getting ready to make shipment. A week went by and when I would check their sight my order status said "Not shipped, waiting on payment" (which CLEARED a month before) I sent an email. Waited about 4 days so with no reply I called. I was told that they were waiting on the coins to arrive. (same old COVID excuse that they will probably use for the next 5 years) Forward to September 13th. I called my card to dispute the transaction due to never receiving the merchandise. Amazingly, September 14th I receive an email stating my order has SHIPPED. Coincidence? I think NOT. I paced an order on 11th of February, sent a personal check as payment they state on their web site that the coins would be shipped once the check cleared in 10 days and I would receive an email message when the coins shipped. I contacted them 2 week later, asked what happen to my order, the said they have not received the coins from their supplier, and there would be about another 2 weeks delay. I got an email message on March 29th saying the order had shipped and they provided a USPS tracking number. I checked the tracking number and it said the coins would arrive Monday April 3rd. Per the tracking information it said Priority mail and Restricted Delivery. I did not receive the coins buy Wednesday the 5th so I called Gainesville to see if they could report a missing package notice with the USPS, Now I was told they ship coins to arrive with in 15 days from ship date, "Not Priority". Today is April 8th I checked tracking and USPS and says the order would be delivered Today by 6:00pm. Conclusion: I will never make a purchase from Gainesville Coins ever again, I have ordered in the past from AMPEX and JM-Bullion and always receive my order with in 2-3 weeks. I have used Gainesville Coins in the past. On 4 orders going back to 2021 I had no issues, received good service and product. On the 5 order, crickets. I don't remember calling but I'm sure I did. After about 2 months I filed a complaint with my bank. The number one reason to use a top bank issued credit card is that if you don't receive your goods in a reasonable period of time, the bank will issue you a refund and investigate the matter after the fact. I received my refund from the bank on my card within 48 hours. Vendors can treat you like crap, but they don't want problems with Visa and Chase. About a month later I received formal notice of order cancellation and resolution by mail from Chase. Needless to say, I have moved on. There are simply too many good reliable bullion dealers out there. No one should have to wait months for product. Sadly, failure to ship suggests either procurement or cash flow problems.
