From time to time I will pop into the Harley Davidson shop here in Gainesville. Very often they have something going on during the weekend, like a cook out or chili contest or something like that. This wasn't one of those times, but it had been quite a while since I had looked at anything there that I felt a stop was worth it. I was greeted as I walked up, so they have a proactive sales force that wants to ensure that you are being taken care of. Frankly, I am not a Harley owner in the first place, and my riding habits do not really promote the use of one in the first place, but I explored the options with the sales guy that came up to me anyway, because it is always good to explore new options if they appear. Harley's are good bikes, don't get me wrong. They are just not the bike for me. The options that they have are not really what I am looking for in a bike. I want my bike to be running smooth as glass, minimal chrome because I don't want to have clean the stuff, and nimbleness in the corners. Harleys for the most part don't partake in these avenues, which is fine since they satiate a different crowd and set of desires... just not mine. We won't go into cost. Let it just be said that I am not a big fan of paying for a name. However, I found the sales staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help out with whatever I needed. I didn't get into prices or quotes or anything like that as it was really a "get to know the product again" kind of visit. Upon exiting the store, however, I was reminded once again one of the main reasons why I don't own a Harley... one of them fired up close by, and I realized that I was not one that was willing to need hearing protection just for sitting on a bike in traffic. Those suckers are entirely too loud for their own good. However, that is a part of the product, and not a detractor for this review... just my opinion. read more

Everyone is very nice to me at the dealer. There were a few things withheld from me during my interests and eventual purchase of a motorcycle. I was never told the bike that I was interested in was a demo model with 98 miles. Since I never buy demo bikes, this was very unkind of Gainesville. However, I looked the motorcycle over and it appeared in new good condition. I drove a long way. What is one to do? I was never told that about the manufacturer warranty dropping from 3 to 2 years. This was a sales tactic to convince me to buy an extended warranty which adds 3K to bike price. I was never told that navigation GPS for the bike is extra and must be purchased from HD at a cost of 349.00. It is good for 3 years. HD never mentions GPS cost to maintain maps. Gainesville sold me an applied ceramic coating for the bike that protects the paint to include powder coated parts and is warrantied for 7 years. I found blemishes and contamination on the paint in varies locations. Now I was able to buff all these blemishes out. However it seems to me, if a special protective coating is applied, how can one buff something out underneath the coating? I am not sure the coating was ever applied? I paid 1K for this coating. I think Gainesville just forgot to do the job. Common sense tells me that the motorcycle should be cleaned and polished prior to applying ceramic protective coating. Gainesville had 4 days to accomplish this task. So far, I have not received a reply to my concerns. read more

Drove to Gainesville HD to speak with George Shallis regarding a 2020 HD Ultra Classic in the Zephyr Blue. George said he could get the Blue bike in, what would it take for us to sign and give a deposit. We said we were going to look at the same bike in MS and we'd sign for a deal at $29k. George came Back with an order sheet with $29k written on it giving me all the added options to match the bike I was planning on seeing. I not only signed the purchase order but also shook both George's hand and the Managers hand, Tim Myers to seal the deal. They called today to tell me the bike was finally in but the deal was off. If I wanted the bike, I'd have to pay thousands more. What happened to honoring your word??? Honoring what you wrote on a piece of paper that you had your customer sign PLUS a credit card was given for a deposit to show our good faith. We did EVERYTHING the dealership asked, but they just changed their minds and are now NOT honoring the deal. BAIT AND SWITCH DEALERSHIP with getting you involved, interested and committed only to inflate the price. Pathetic and SHADY dealings. Do not shop here! They will only talk the talk but when it comes to honoring their word, it's worth the same in value as the paper it was written on. I went to Harley of Gainesville for $129 pre trip check up. The guy at service recommended a 10,000 mile service which costs over $1000. I was leaving for a five day bike trip to Pensacola and could afford the full service update at the time. So I went to pick up the bike, asked the guy at the service desk about my bike and if my tires were checked and he said yes. I got back home and my tires pressure was low, and oil was low too. Bought my bike from here about 6 months ago. I could not have been more pleased with the service and fair deal. I recently returned for a visit and purchased several items of clothing, helmets and accessories. We received excellent attention and assistance from Krystal? I think that's her name. The dealership is very friendly with a lot of available items, other than Harley, priced very competitively. Which has been an issue with Harley for years. I'm glad to see this happen.. I traveled from Tallahassee to Gainesville to purchase my bike. The Tallahassee dealership was not where you wanted to go. I recently learned that Tallahassee Harley is now owned by the same folks as Gainesville.. Awesome... I went in the Tallahassee Harley and bought two new tires. Excellent service. I received my bike back Waxed and detailed. Looked better than the showroom bikes... Went a few days ago and they were awesome. My tourist was Ms. Clover she was awesome. She took her time with me and help me try on products that were there and even gave me a wish list and a tour of the whole building. It was a jaw dropping experience. It's ready feeling like my second home already. I will be also taking my motorcycle lessons there soon. Can't wait!! Today which is a holiday, I got my gear for my bike. I just moved to Gainesville and bought a used street bob down south and showed up with this bike in the back of my truck looking for help to get it unloaded. Jerry and the service guys gladly helped me out, looked over my bike for me and adjusted my clutch and did a quick work up for me. Off down the road I went not knowing a soul in town or really where I was going, but the bike felt good and Florida is made for wind therapy. I'm on 75 doing about 80ish and I get rear blow out... luckily I get her over to the shoulder and call GHD to ask who to call for a tow, they send Daniel with the shop truck right away and scoop me up. One of the friendliest dealers in a 200 mile radius. I know because I shopped them all over this past 4th of July weekend. Ocala, Orlando, Daytona...none stood out like the team at Gainesville. I live in NJ and while we were in Ocala I started my HD search. After some back and forth I bought a beautiful 15' Street Glide, my first HD!!! When we took delivery lI proceeded to put 500 miles on the bike in one day!! Perfect bike and a great experience. I shopped Ocala HD and felt as if I was dealing with a slimy used car dealer. Not a great experience. As soon as Gainesville was opened the next day I went back and worked out a deal with Keith. Paul, Keith, Jeff and the rest of the team at Gainesville HD are outstanding, friendly and work hard to make you feel welcome at their dealership. So today was a total bummer. I bought a beautiful used softtail custom from these guys back in early March. My first HD, not my first bike or piece of passports equipment. I was slightly underwhelmed with the performance on my way home but the bike felt ok. Afte, having a few things checked out they our a stage download on for me and it helped a bit. Then it was issue after issue. I contacted the owner, Kevin, who said he'd check it out and make sure everything got squared up. I ended up going on vacation before work got finished and they offered to hang on to my baby till I came home. When I got home two and a half weeks later I was excited to ride. I jumped on the bike and NOTHING had been rectified. They had my bike for over three weeks and had only installed a set of baffles. I talked again to Kevin, at this point frustrated but not out of line. I was told I did something to the bike because the techs said it was perfect. At this point i felt like I could no longer take the bike back to them and the nearest tech was a local guy that Harley approved to work on the bike. He did nearly 800 dollars worth of work and parts and when I went down today Kevin denied saying half of what he said to me on the phone. He said that the work my guy did was garbage and he wouldn't accept it as actual issues that his guys didn't fix and in no way made any effort to make things square with me. G'ville HD has single handedly totally soured me against all things Harley in only two months. I'm a pretty simple man, if I spend my hard earned money with you and you say you're going to take care of me-just do it. Don't make excuses. Don't call me a liar. And definitely don't call the guy that ACTUALLY fixed my bike an idiot. Just make it so I'm satisfied instead of being impolite. I was told today the customer service is way above grade, if that's the case, then why am I not satisfied? Why do I feel the need to share my story as a warning? read more

I called the dealership regarding one of their used bikes. I explained to them I am a perfectionist and was told the bike was in showroom condition. After driving two hours one way, I was more than a little disappointed to find the bike was full of imperfections. I voiced my displeasure to the sale manager, who responded that the bike was in good condition for its model year. He suggested I look at the new bikes. Love this place and all that work here except for service. brought my trike in for repairs was told a few days just got informed my parts or at least some are coming strapped to a donkeys ass, 7 days out....are you kidding me!!!!
