Came here at the recommendation of fellow Yelper Dee M. I'm so glad she did! Gaiss Market is old school corner deli & grocery, the kind of place that used to be everywhere, until huge supermarkets came along. For me it was partially a trip down memory lane. The market is small, cluttered, with a decent mix of dry goods, cold, packaged meats snd fresh veggies. The deli/meat counter is the star, with super fresh, high quality meats. I orders the supreme Italian hoagie. It was excellent. Fresh tomatoes full of flavor, great roll, generous quantities of meats. I also picked up some packaged goods, including Gaiss' own pork roll, vacuum packed and "award winning". It's delicious, as is their vacuum packed bacon which is cut at a perfect thickness. We liked them both so much I've got orders to stock up next time I'm down there. Nice people, it's now a bring your own bags store - local ordinance. Nothing is cheap, the quality makes it worth the higher price. Parking - pull up spots around the building. Definitely will be back soon. read more

What a great resource for the local community and visitors alike! This was my first visit this sweet little store to pick up steaks to grill for our last night in Cape May. I chose 2 nice strip steaks that proved delicious accompanied by mushrooms, broccoli and potatoes for oven baked fries - which i also got at the store. I needed some deli meat and the woman at the meat counter recommended their own ham, which is very tasty and definitely much better than what you get in a package at the grocery store. So far I've made sandwiches and chef salad that were a cut above the usual. It would be perfect if they offered just a bit more produce...but I understand there might not be enough demand to warrant it. Great place to get fresh butchered meats at great prices and they have awesome freezer deals. Also use the bone smoked for the doggies. And try mode dressing, condiments and marinades. Great little mom and pop corner store/deli. Came here looking for some tuna and egg salad since the place we normally buy it (Heritage) has closed its doors. I was surprised to find they sell Jewish Apple Cake! (I ended up buying a 1/4 slice to try at home). They had a deli counter to order items as well as a grocery area and various refrigerated areas with prepared foods. We were able to get egg salad but no tuna salad unfortunately. Please see my previous review because everything is still just as great. I would add that if you're down here definitely get a hoagie because it's as good as the old hoagies from south Philly. Also check the cold cases for a variety of side items like potato salad ,coleslaw, cucumber salad etc. All really good. On this visit for take home I got a chuck roast, T-bone steak, a fillet mignon, a premium Italian hoagie and a quarter sheet cake that was made from a local baker. Their prices on their baked items are exceptionally good. And their prices on their meats are reasonable for high-quality cuts. We are all fans of Gaiss Market but not this particular cheesesteak sans our host. It was a traditional cheesesteak. The roll didn't help this cheesesteak. It alligatored and was bready. This is a great deli. I come here whenever I visit my parents who have a house nearby. They have so many different things to choose from and are fairly priced. When we come, we usually come and grab lunch meat to make sandwiches or hoagies. They also have fresh salads, potato, macaroni and salads like that which are really tasty. So many amazing things to say about Gaiss Market! First, their sandwich counter is incredible. They have the best staff, freshest ingredients, tastiest sandwiches, and a huge range of options. I could eat one of their sandwiches every day. Second, the meat selection here is ABUNDANT - and everything is homemade, trimmed, and packaged with care. The kielbasa and breakfast sausages are my current favorites. Prepared foods - like pasta salad, potato salad, corn salad - are all excellent, super flavorful, fresh, and dirt cheap. Same with the bread/bakery area. I love all of their soft, pillowy rolls. Finally, the staff are friendly, nice, helpful, and warm. Places like this are rare and need to be celebrated like the treasures they are. The pro move is to put in your sandwich order first and then shop as they make it. Great little corner market, looks family owned. We were staying in the Villas and lunch time snuck up on me. A sando would hit the spot, saw this place and tried it out. Small menu, but all good choices. We ordered a buffalo chicken cheesesteak, a porkroll with cheese on a Kaiser roll and a side of fries. Excellent price. I had the buffalo chicken cheesesteak and it was fantastic. Flavorful, lots of chicken and sauce, great soft bread. Fries were standard delicious, crunchy outside. I told my sister-in-law they had meats, sausages that looked really good if they wanted to grill some more. And at the counter, I was super tempted to buy, a handy dandy s'mores kit! I took a look around and saw they had some basic groceries if needed, like cereal and what not. Lady who took my order over the phone was really friendly and sweet. We were driving through from Delaware to Cape May, and suddenly got hungry for lunch. We got take out hoagies--Italian Supreme. Good value for a 12 inch hoagie at about $8. Good taste, could have used a few more onions, and the roll could have been crisper. Also I would prefer the meat be capicola and salami only on the Supreme, to be fully authentic. Bland boiled ham doesn't fit--for ne at least. Overall the sandwich was good and I would go back. read more

We have always gone to Robinson's deli, we decided to try here instead and we were blown away! The macaroni salad was amazing, and the coleslaw was just like my moms. We bought pasta salad and some lunch meats too, we were very impressed by the quality of it all. The staff is super nice too. We will definitely be using this deli instead from now on. My only complaint is the pricing for convenience items, like mayo or condiments pricing for small items was very high. read more

If you're looking for the real deal butcher shop this is your place. Excellent meats fantastic service. I go there weekly for my lunch meats and great rye bread. I could just go up the street to the Acme but I believe in supporting local family businesses. Their own made Hot Dogs sausage and many other products can't be beat. We order sandwiches at least twice when we vacation at the Villas! Their food is always fresh! Their lunchmeat is delicious.... great for ordering some to go to make sandwiches for the beach. You have to try their freshly main salads, especially their potato salad! It's delicious! Was a decent small grocery store / butcher shop. Was expecting something a bit different - like either a country butcher shop or Italian butcher shop that have a warm family inviting vibe. The layout was a bit off and so maybe just needs a little re-thinking to make the space more inviting / welcoming. All behind the butcher counter wore proper masks the cashier wore a face shield and was behind plexi glass so for the most part abiding by COVID CDC guidelines. read more

Doggie smoked bones .... my cairn terrier LOVES them. Very large but they are so nice the cashier lady told me they would cut them for me. They are perfect size for her now..... so I think I will make myself a Gaiss roast beef sandwich with New Yorker American cheese. Mmmm read more
