This place is a childhood staple in my books! Everytime we go I am always reminded on why we love to watch a movie at the drive in! It always brings great vibes and nostalgia all in one! This specific time was so great! We decided to watch the new Jurassic World and the screen we were assigned to was a bit hidden which mad the movie that much more intimate! The snack bar is always a staple too! I could have sworn that they used to offer more variety, but overall I always get a large popcorn! Movie popcorn is just top tier! They're always out of stock on certain food and don't tell anybody until we walk up there wait in a 30 minute line just for them to tell us that they're out. If I could leave -negative stars I would. Where do I start, the concession stand is in the middle of the bathrooms, the screens aren't labeled so you have no idea which screen you are supposed to be at then the little screens they added to the middle where by the way if you are at the middle little screens you won't be able to enjoy your movie because of cars leaving and their headlights preventing you from seeing the movie. This is total waste of money and time. They need to revamp the drive in and organize screens showings and remove those cheap little screens!! Today is Thursday, December 25th. I purchased two tickets for the 7:00 PM showing of Five Nights at Freddy's. It is now 7:30PM, and nothing has started on the screen. We ordered nachos and they were stale, the guy did make us another nacho with fresh chips. The snack shop could use a good cleaning. The numbers to get you to the screens need to light up or be repainted, it was hard locating which screen our movie was on. They need to update this location on all areas. read more

Haven't been in here in years and now see why. Went for a Friday showing with our kids and talked about how great this place used to be. If you look at the reviews, they are still riding their reviews from years ago and most anything recent is only 1-2 stars. Ticket folks at the front are less than helpful with directions to your screen and look like they hate their jobs. Food options are non-existent, so if you're planning to eat here, skip it and bring something with you or eat ahead of time. The family parked next to us had a whole taco bar setup on their tailgate and now I see why. Popcorn and candy are pretty much all they have besides basic ballpark nachos and pizzas with more crust than pizza. Seriously it looked like an eight lane bypass going around the edge of a no sauce, dry pizza. Butter machine was broken so you got dry, no flavor popcorn. This place is on its last legs and I would recommend going elsewhere as they are still expensive even despite all of this. read more

The facilities are seriously run down it needs to be updated . The snack bar building was falling apart there was a spider web in the corner and the food quality was below sub par. The bathrooms were very ruin down with spiderwebs on the walls and chipped paint everywhere. The screens however are standard and has a nice outdoor space. Man talk about some nostalgia going to a drive-in. I was picturing some run down place but this drive in was well built and well kept up. It was a great experience i hadnt had since i was a child and even better now that i have a jeep to just throw the trunk open and watch the movie from the back while enjoying a few drinks. 've been a loyal supporter of Galaxy Drive-In for years. I started coming when my son was a toddler. He's 19 now, and we've made some amazing memories here. Fourth of July was always our favorite time to visit. They used to do a few fireworks, and it felt magical. Whenever someone asked why I didn't go to Coyote in Fort Worth, I would always say that Galaxy is the real drive-in experience. This year, I told my family we were finally going back for the Fourth, and I was genuinely excited. I even knew exactly what I wanted from the snack bar before we left home. A cheeseburger and nachos, just like old times. But when we arrived, it honestly felt like a punch to the gut. There are no more speakers by the cars. No trash cans near the parking area. If you have trash, you have to walk all the way to the concession stand to throw it away. The snack bar was extremely hot, and instead of a menu board, there was just a dry erase board with a few items written on it. The food options were limited. The nachos were stale, and the cheese didn't have any flavor. It was disappointing. The screens were also really dark, which made it hard to even enjoy the movie. I sat in the car trying not to let it bother me, but it was hard. I kept looking around, thinking about how much the place has changed. I even pulled up reviews while we waited and realized I probably should have read them before we came. It just made me sad. I had also posted on Facebook and sent a message asking if they would be doing fireworks. I never got a reply. That would have been fine if they weren't, but it would have been nice to at least know ahead of time. Galaxy used to be something special for my family. It holds so many great memories for us. We have been here before, but we were unaware that they didn't have staff on Monday and Tuesday to run the snack stand. The person who sold us the tickets didn't disclose that until we returned to the entrance to inquire about it. We would have brought something with us but the website clearly states no outside food or drinks allowed. They directed us to a nearby gas station to purchase snacks. What an absolute shame. We left after witnessing what had become of a once great drive in theater. I had initially found the Galaxy Drive in back in 2003 (apparently shortly after just opening) I was heading back from Dallas after visiting some friends there and on the way back to Houston, I passed it on I-45. I initially thought I'd passed a drive-in diner. I made a u-turn and to my surprise it was a new drive in theater, done up in the spirit of the classic ones I grew up around in Houston. Large concession building, large murals painted on some of the structures. A nice touch were the working drive-in window speakers scattered all over the property. Out of convenience, you could listen over your car radio. If you didn't have one, they'd supply it. Classic movie and theater memorabilia in the main concession building to check out while you waited on your pizza. Obviously it had been built with some pride. (I watched "Bruce Almighty" the coolest way possible: at a drive-in. Coincidentally, I'd just installed a great DVD surround system in my car. So I got to see--and hear the soundtrack in Dolby Surround :)- ) Fast forward to 2025. It's dilapidated and a borderline health hazard. Junked vehicles litter the vast property. Trash and what were pieces of the original concession building are strewn everywhere. I spoke briefly with a disheveled gentleman, who turned out to be the owner. After asking where the restrooms were, unsolicited, he blamed everything for the downturn in patrons on the weather, Netflix and so on, rather than on the rotting busses and window AC units and oxygen tanks that are blocking part of the pathways around the nine screens. For added atmosphere, another waft of pot smoke blew in our direction. With a final mosquito bite after heading back outside and after seeing the condition of the "concession/bathroom/junk storage room", I'd had enough. We're due to hit up the Coyote Drive in Fort Worth tomorrow. Hopefully all the cars there aren't on blocks. read more

The snack bar had limited selection. Keep bugs in mind. Movie doesn't start until it gets dark so keep that in mind in the middle of summer. Audio of the movie is done thru a specific radio station for the particular screen. Make sure to have an alternative to hear the audio. Your car will die if you keep it on to use the radio. Cell phone apps have a difficult time finding the station. There's no attachment available to put on your car window. Great value. Wonderful experience. read more

I'm sad to give this place a bad review. I used to love coming here. I moved off for a few years and I recently moved back. This place is not what it once was. I don't know what's up with the weirdly small screens in the middle of the property. I would never want to watch a movie on a screen that small. The food options are gone. They used to have fries, burgers, chicken tenders, fresh popcorn. That's all gone. So sad. I used to love this place. I'm afraid it won't be around much longer. My family has been coming here for years and we enjoy it. I didn't rate it 5 stars because of a few minor issues. Cons: 1. They don't have speaker boxes so you have to rely on your car speakers. 2. The last visit the restrooms had a strong urinal scent... but It was in the Texas heat so.... 3. The popcorn was a bit too salty for my family but I enjoyed it. Pros: 1. Cost per person is great 2. Galaxy is my jam. I drag my nearest and dearest out every year for my birthday, it is one of our favorite traditions. Currently we are living in these pandemic times, so it is single movie only and limited concessions. All that being said, I still love it. I came out here for the 4th of July. They did a little firework show and were playing the original Ghostbusters. You're still allowed to sit outside in the bed of a truck, but for now are not allowing people to sit in camp chairs outside their vehicle. Also concessions are done through a window instead of coming inside, and they are limited. However, they've got popcorn! It was the most fun I have had in months, and with the fireworks I even felt a bit festive. They had to take out all the speaker boxes years ago after vandals came to trash the place and they couldn't get them fixed, however the signal comes in clear on a radio. They've got seven screens and it is a fun way to spend an evening. read more

Came to Galaxy again recently for the first time in a while and was pleased. The bathrooms were much cleaner than in previous visits and the staff as always were incredibly friendly and welcoming. You really can't beat a good old fashioned drive in and galaxy continues to give a good valued experience. Such a fun place. The drive in experience is so much fun for the whole family. The selection of movies always has something for everyone. I mean the experience can always be ruined by others if they are inconsiderate but the same could happen at a indoor theater if you get someone on their phone. That's just people being inconsiderate. I took one star away because the concession stand needs a food line and a popcorn/soda/candy line. Waiting 20-30 minutes on a busy night for a family of 8 to get their funnel cakes and pizzas before I can get a bag of popcorn and a cup for soda is ridiculous. There's two doors. It would be so easy to make 1 a good line and 1 a basic line. Would definitely make this a 5 star experience in my book. Other than that, love this place! read more

I've debated reviewing for the last few times we've been because I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt that things would get better. Our family has been coming here for years, but lately it's been a huge disappointment. The screen has become increasingly harder to see. All of the movies are so dark that you can barely see who is on the screen. The picture quality has steadily declined over the last couple years. Secondly, there is alway someone with their lights on making it that much harder to see the screen. No one comes around anymore to tell people to turn them off, so you're stuck with blinding lights in your eyes half the time. The restrooms are disgusting! The snack bar used to have halfway decent food, but now it's not worth waiting in line for. Don't bother if you are vegetarian/vegan there's nothing for you here. Also, while I know it's not their fault, only showing one movie instead of the double feature sucks when it's the same price. I honestly was so excited to go to a drive-in theater - I'm a lifelong fan of film and have wanted to go to a drive-in my whole life but never lived close to one in order to go. We got invited to an early sneak-peek of "Clown in a Cornfield" for a special one-night-only event and thought it was the perfect movie to see at a drive-in, so we excitedly headed out. First of all, the ground is very uneven with huge dips and hills, so if you have a low car or don't have 4WD you may have trouble or get stuck if it's muddy or if you park in a rut, etc. Easy to bottom out or damage your car. Secondly, the screens are TINY and some of them are just the sides of buildings. The property is covered in junked cars and construction equipment, it literally looks like a junkyard that is being used as a drive-in part time. The restrooms were UNSPEAKABLE, we were the first people there for the earliest showing and my 9 year old daughter needed to use the bathroom. We walked and immediately started gagging - every single stall was covered in feces and urine, some of the toilets were literally full almost to the brim with diarrhea, there was toilet paper all over the floor, dead cockroaches and junebugs everywhere. It was horrible. We went into the concession stand to tell the staff and it was two ladies who were arguing. The food smelled terrible, like old fryer oil. We got popcorn and a pizza - the pizza was supposedly homemade but it tasted like actual cardboard, my daughter said her school cafeteria pizza was way better. The popcorn was clearly stale and even after we put butter on it, it was inedible. The website says absolutely no outside food allowed so we followed the rules and didn't bring any, but I felt like an idiot when everyone around us was eating fast food or had brought picnic baskets etc. instead of eating the gross concessions. They charge you per-person, not per carload. The movie sound was fine but the projection was really dark and blurry, it was a dark horror movie to begin with and we really couldn't see much. And they didn't do anything to enforce people who left their headlights/taillights on the whole show. No security or anyone except the ticket taker at the entrance and the concession staff, I think. Overall, I'm glad we had the experience but I won't go back unless for a really great reason. I plan to check out the Coyote in Ft Worth and hope for a better experience. read more

Environmental HORROR SHOW. They absolutely MUST institute no idling policy!! It's not fair to good patrons for them to allow people to sit and idle for hours, creating exhaust that we then have to breathe in while trying to enjoy the show. Tried to have a good night with my daughters first problem the screen was super small but we stayed for the family time and then unfortunately our battery died (yes our fault- I guess) we got a phone call and had to leave and the theatre people would not give us a boost. When I went to ask for help another person was trying to get fresh popcorn and the guy behind the counter said he couldn't give him a refund or fresh popcorn. Said that all the popcorn was the same. This place used to be packed- lines of folks waiting to come in. Not exactly drive in movie screen size. Plus horrible parking to see the movie. Look at all the cars parked to try and get a decent spot! There's not enough of these in existence anymore! Perhaps one of the most iconic of Drive Ins is the Galaxy Theatre that we found on our cross country road trip through the U.S! This was probably one of our favorite things throughout our whole trip - just sitting back in our car enjoying a movie playing through our radio and comfortably munching on some snacks! The Drive-In hosts two showtimes and has seven screens! The second movie plays 10 minutes after the first ends! You can watch a double feature if you make it in time for the most affordable price of $7 total for both!!! What an amazing deal!! Parking is first come first serve! We were only able to catch the second feature, and the parking was plentiful as cars shifted to other screens and/or left! Be sure to be courteous to your neighbors by keeping your headlights off and keep a clean windshield too so you can better see the screens!! We had just a lovely time and what a great experience we would definitely recommend to others (not too far from Dallas too!). read more

I've been pretty cautious about traveling out during COVID. Luckily, drive-in theaters are a perfect pandemic-friendly activity, and I'm very glad they are experiencing a resurgence of popularity. Living in Dallas, I wasn't sure where the best location would be. Galaxy kept coming up as a suggestion, and we decided to go for it. We saw Tenet at this theater. There are plenty of screens here, each with a good amount of space. We got there roughly an hour early, so there wasn't a ton of traffic for us, and we got a good spot. I definitely recommend getting there earlier rather than later. They do have restrooms and limited concessions open, and masks are required when outside of your car. The picture quality was good, and the FM transmission for the audio was solid. My only negatives are that the movies seem to start fairly significantly later than the listed times (30 minutes or so), and people seem to enjoy turning their lights on at random points during the movie. I would like to see that enforced more. However, those are minor complaints and didn't change how nice it was to get out of the house for something different and safe. If you're looking for a fun outing, I would definitely recommend this theater. read more

Drive in Theatre, whaaat? Ain't that something you hear about from old movies or in a magazine somewhere? Well, it not fictional anymore. While getting my oil changed I read in a magazine about the several different drive in theaters that's around Texas. While visiting my boyfriend in Dallas. We again took up an opportunity to try something new, exciting, and fun. We drove an hour to Ennis and couldn't wait to see our movie. We both wanted to see two different movies, I: A Cure for Wellness and him: Get Out, but we didn't want to pay for 2 separate tickets. When you pay for one ticket you're automatically charged for the second movie depending on if it's on the same screen just different showtimes my boyfriend was thrilled about it. We recently saw Coco and StarWars which by the way StarWars Last Jedi is a good movie. The screen sometimes is a little darker than normal which is harder to see dark scenes in the movie and another thing we didn't like is that the food station usually has only 2 workers inside one preparing the meals and a cashier. Which took my boyfriend 40 mins to stand in line and wait to order and then wait again for his order to be ready, that right there in itself is a waste of a movie and Galaxy should hire more employees unless they want terrible reviews. This drive in theater overall is great my boyfriend and I patronize it every time we get a chance or if I'm in town we do. Normally we have a good experience but tonight was so bad the movie Barbarian was shown on "screen" 8 which was not even a damn screen it was on the side of the restroom wall which was so wrong in so many ways.
