Hello I had a super…read moreexperience yesterday. I've been in several times but yesterday I made my first guitar purchase. Previously I have bought a compressor and some other things. But yesterday I made my very first purchase of a high quality instrument. I've been in guitar stores across the country. Alpha Music is a well led and helpful environment. No one looks down at older music fans who can't play well enough to warrant a high end instrument. I think I read the service people are not on commission. Even if so they are attentive and knowledgeable about the product. I initially thought I was going for a guitar around $1800. When I asked for the next one on my list he gently pointed out it was at a different price point. I appreciated that very much. I could buy a few but he wouldn't know and more importantly he was very polite and had no derision about it. At " the other store" the sales people are rude and pushy. In the end I bought a higher end instrument that was third on my list. I'd been researching and knew what I was going to look at. Thank you to everyone who has assisted me in all my visits. I picked up some jewelry and some grateful dead items each visit. There is always so much to look at and it's all unique to their shop. Nobody else on the oceanfront has such awesome hippie merch. The people hanging there are always friendly which is such a plus when you're on vacation. They have it all. Clothes, accessories, mugs, home fragrance, hippie decor....anything you can imagine. And good prices too! I heard they burned out in a fire a few years ago and i am sure glad they came back and rebuilt. I can't imagine the each without a visit to this shop. Walk in happy. Long story long: I'm a photographer and videographer that works for a nightclub and they sent me here to grab some fog machine fluid. I made the order online and came to pick it up just cause I live 30-35 minutes away and wanted to make a quick grab and go. As soon as I arrived, I went to the first person I saw and was told "Oh! I'm off already, I was supposed to leave an hour ago, go find another associate.." I then proceeded to walk in the DJ section side because I wasn't directed where the next associate was so I decided to get lost. I saw a gentleman at a counter and stood in front of him waiting to be acknowledged but he just stared at me blankly so I then proceeded to ask him which he huffed and puffed in annoyance. After giving him my name he walked off silently without a word and grabbed my things. When asked for an ID, I gave him a government issued ID and was told with attitude that it had to be a drivers license (this didn't make sense to me cause if my government issued ID gets me pass TSA, I didn't see why my ID couldn't get me pass fog machine fluid.)

There were two boxes left on the shelf, and instead of grabbing the one in the front, he reached behind it and pulled the one from the back. At the time it didn't seem like a big deal, but once we got back and opened it, everything made sense. The unit clearly wasn't new. There was Velcro on the bottom like it had been mounted in someone else's setup, and the cords and plugs had writing on them. It looked used right out of the box, and on top of that, it didn't even work. Luckily, the mixer we already had held us over for the night, so it didn't completely throw everything off. We brought it back, explained the situation, and got a refund without any hassle. Not the worst experience since they made it right, but definitely frustrating. If you're going here for something specific, double check the box before you leave.

I thoroughly enjoy my lessons at Music Makers! I am sad that I've only recently discovered it by…read moreway of a close friend. I have currently been taking lessons with Rebecca. I grew up singing most of my life, however I have done it less and less as an adult. Working with Rebecca has shown me that the music has not completely left. Rebecca shows excitement for her students and champions you as you go along with the lesson. The lessons are also very affordable as well. After attending in person sessions for over a month I was able to change my schedule slightly. Even during this time when my schedule was crazy she allowed me to do my lessons virtually. As an adult I cannot tell you how beneficial this is to have someone work with your crazy schedule. I was able to successfully change my lessons to biweekly in a virtual setting. I plan to do more at Music Makers as time and money allows, I really enjoy my time with Rebecca.
