It was at this point the owner started trying to force a month to month contract on me after 1 lesson. I explained that my son's grandfather is very sick with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and that we can't guarantee we will be in town every week since we have been visiting him more ( almost weekly ). The owner seemed unsympathetic to this and continued to debate and argue about getting his contract signed. After that, I considered not coming back because I didn't want to give this man any more of my money, however I had really enjoyed my 1 vocal lesson and my son also enjoyed his drum lesson, so I asked if I could pay for another vocal lesson in advance to which he begrudgingly agreed. I explained to him that I would be happy to pay for our lessons a week in advance when we knew we were going to be in town. However that wasn't good enough for him and he insisted on locking me in a monthly contract, and that I would have to next time I came. My son's second drum lesson was great ( yesterday ) and I had my 3rd vocal lesson today which was lovely. Unfortunately, when I came around the corner to the front desk, the owner was waiting for me with a posture and look on his face that said he was ready to argue. Great way to greet a customer upon seeing them. He immediately asked me what I had decided about his contract, to which I declined to sign it and offered to pay for another vocal lesson a week in advance since I know I will be in town next week. He debated me again and said that I couldn't do that and tried to argue that rules are rules, which is just silly in this case. Most of his arguments were based around people in the past not showing up for lessons and them losing money since they would have teachers there still getting paid. However, if someone is paying you a week in advance for an upcoming lesson, you're guaranteed that person is going to show or at least to have their money for the lesson already. In the end though, it is his business and he can make up whatever obscure and silly rules he wants. Just know, that after your 1st lesson they're going to try and force a month to month contract on you and make you lock in a time for every week. Personally, I'll be taking my business and my money elsewhere.

Long story long: I'm a photographer and videographer that works for a nightclub and they sent me here to grab some fog machine fluid. I made the order online and came to pick it up just cause I live 30-35 minutes away and wanted to make a quick grab and go. As soon as I arrived, I went to the first person I saw and was told "Oh! I'm off already, I was supposed to leave an hour ago, go find another associate.." I then proceeded to walk in the DJ section side because I wasn't directed where the next associate was so I decided to get lost. I saw a gentleman at a counter and stood in front of him waiting to be acknowledged but he just stared at me blankly so I then proceeded to ask him which he huffed and puffed in annoyance. After giving him my name he walked off silently without a word and grabbed my things. When asked for an ID, I gave him a government issued ID and was told with attitude that it had to be a drivers license (this didn't make sense to me cause if my government issued ID gets me pass TSA, I didn't see why my ID couldn't get me pass fog machine fluid.)

There were two boxes left on the shelf, and instead of grabbing the one in the front, he reached behind it and pulled the one from the back. At the time it didn't seem like a big deal, but once we got back and opened it, everything made sense. The unit clearly wasn't new. There was Velcro on the bottom like it had been mounted in someone else's setup, and the cords and plugs had writing on them. It looked used right out of the box, and on top of that, it didn't even work. Luckily, the mixer we already had held us over for the night, so it didn't completely throw everything off. We brought it back, explained the situation, and got a refund without any hassle. Not the worst experience since they made it right, but definitely frustrating. If you're going here for something specific, double check the box before you leave.

I thoroughly enjoy my lessons at Music Makers! I am sad that I've only recently discovered it by…read moreway of a close friend. I have currently been taking lessons with Rebecca. I grew up singing most of my life, however I have done it less and less as an adult. Working with Rebecca has shown me that the music has not completely left. Rebecca shows excitement for her students and champions you as you go along with the lesson. The lessons are also very affordable as well. After attending in person sessions for over a month I was able to change my schedule slightly. Even during this time when my schedule was crazy she allowed me to do my lessons virtually. As an adult I cannot tell you how beneficial this is to have someone work with your crazy schedule. I was able to successfully change my lessons to biweekly in a virtual setting. I plan to do more at Music Makers as time and money allows, I really enjoy my time with Rebecca.
