Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, from the Korean steak and lamb chops to the seafood, sushi tacos, and all of the amazing sides and sauces. The presentation was beautiful, and every dish felt thoughtfully put together. The steak was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor, and the seafood dish was definitely a standout. The sushi tacos were also such a fun twist and were packed with fresh ingredients. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was gorgeous and made the whole dinner feel like an experience rather than just a meal. The colorful lighting, beautiful presentation, and interactive Korean BBQ-style dining made it such a memorable night. Great quality food--I've only tried the happy hour menu so far, and I'd definitely recommend it. Dinner is on the expensive side, so be prepared for a higher price point. The ambiance is beautiful, and while the restaurant is still new and finding its footing, it has a lot of potential. My experiences with the service have been completely opposite. On one visit, the service was outstanding. On another, I was essentially ignored for over an hour and was 1/3 tables in the restaurant. Recently went to Galbi with our friends. We had reservations at 7:30. They said they were a little backed up so would be 15-20 mins. We ended up going to the bar to wait. This would have been a 5 star review but we legit waited 15-20 mins at the bar without the bartender even acknowledging us. The bartender was just making service bar drinks. It really boggled us that on a Sat night they only had one bartender working. After waiting we were sat at our table. Xavi came over to greet us and took our drink and appetizer orders. We ended up getting the veggie spring rolls, shrimp bombs, and dumplings in the spicy peanut sauce. The shrimp bombs were amazing! My fav appetizer of bunch. For main we did the waygu feast and ordered a side of chicken for our companion who likes beef but not that much. The first cut they cooked was a like a steakumm and was good. But the blockbusters of the dinner were the filet and ribeye. The last cuts were kinda tough and not so great but the filet and ribeye melted in our mouths like butter. I opted for pineapple fried rice with bacon so good and they had some banchan dishes that were good too. Xavi was incredible and sooo attentive. We had the sampler of steak meant for 2-3 people and after we split the bill it was $140 each which was one drink and an app. The Waygu and filet was good but small portion. The others were fatty and not that tender. The sides it came with weren't that interesting and got tossed. For that cost I'd expect much more. We came in on a Sunday night for the first time and right off the bat, it had a good crowd. The ambiance is so cool. There are red lights all over and the meats displayed when you walk in. The manager Simon was phenomenal in explaining how everything worked and how to order. We tried a little bit of everything from appetizers to main dishes. The appetizers were so unique, especially the sushi tacos that were so crispy and flavorful. We also ordered the butchers feast for our main and all of the sides were outstanding pairing up with the meat for the lettuce wraps. The Wagyu was the star of the show but everything we ate had such great flavor. The way that they cook right in front of you was so cool from presentation to plating my fiancé and I are so excited to go back and it might just become our favorite new spot. Galbi is new trendy Korean "steakhouse"/ nightclub like experience. It feels like a Vegas restaurant that has a nightclub feel like TAO. Glad a place like this, which is totally different from anything else in the area opened up but hopefully a year from now it's still busy. It will appeal more to a 20-30's crowd or the ladies night out. This will be a fun special occasion spot surpassing the areas traditional Hibachi spots with even more celebratory feel. Food : You pick your feast level and then pick 2 items you want in that feast level. Feast levels are $60, 95 and $160. The more expensive one gets you Japanese A5 wagyu selections. Regardless of your feast Protein level you can select Unlimited appetizers. There is a big selection of sushi rolls and different appetizers. Portion are Small for one or two people mostly but some were more shareable. Everyone at your table can order up to two appetizers at a time, but there is no limit. I think we ordered about five appetizers each person so we could try a bunch of stuff. I would say that every appetizer was enjoyable and the quality was good. Then they come and cook your selected feast protein level right at your table in the grill built into your table. We did a combination of two level 1 feet and two level two feast which included access to dry aged meat. We got shirt, steak and short rib and salmon on the lower feast and on the level feast we got dry, aged ribeye steaks, and a lobster tails. Meat portions are small about 6 ounces the lobster tail however it was a big portion maybe 8oz! I'll have to return another day to try the Wagyu offering when I feel like laying out $160! They have not even had their grand opening yet it's a soft opening so we're their operational issues absolutely plenty of them. We waited at the table way too long before even getting a drink order in and the appetizer order got messed up several things didn't come out and then reason for them. Then we got several that we didn't order so I think another table was missing items ! Five stars for now for the uniqueness of this new establishment and the food was tasty. Hopefully they can keep it up and improve operations and get more staff or updated review will drop. Definitely more expensive than your average hibachi place and this will turn many people away and be ever come back, but this is a whole experience and there is nothing like it unless you go to NYC. They spent big bucks decorating here. Super high ceilings nightclub feel tables that all light up, etc.. The ambiance as you walked in was very dark modern with a Tao NYC vibe. Server, bartender and hostess went above and beyond to ensure our experience was enjoyable. There was a slight delay as to be expected being it was father day evening. But because of the extra attention we did not realize we had been waiting over 1/2hr to be seated. Your food is cooked to order by your assigned waitress and chef. Wilson was great he cooked our meats to perfection being we had a table some who preferred med to other well done. My well done steak was cooked to perfection, it was soft juicy and full of flavor. Waitstaff explained all the side that came with our meal being we got the Chef's Feast and continually check on us in not an annoying way. This was our first time visiting Galbi, and unfortunately this will be the last time. First of all , my husband and I were very excited to visit Galbi, since it is a new restaurant and it is very close to home. We absolutely love Korean BBQ and Korean food. Plus we don't have to travel to Korean town in the city to have authentic Korean BBQ. Super excited! The whole restaurant is dark and so dark that the chef has to use a flashlight to check on the food. Sure, maybe that is their style. Let's move on. The first weird thing was that while the chef was cooking our steak , out of nowhere, he pulled out a propane torch and started to use that to char our steak while grilling the food. I don't know about you but I have never seen anything like that. I mean you probably BBQ at your backyard, would you propane torch your steak while you are grilling your chicken or steak ? We were simply confused. Second, the food , we spent over $200 for 2 people, and it is definitely not worth it. The food was very small portioned. And it tasted so bad, they also used electric salt and pepper grinder , the chef salted and papered our steak over and over, you really don't need sauce at the end, you might need a cup of water to wash off all the salt and pepper , by the way , they offered us 3 different sauces, none of them were good. Third, the feedback. We were trying to tell the waitress that the food was really not good. And the waitress was trying to give feedback to the owner. At the end of the day, we were told they were trying to make Korean BBQ more American style. I mean , this is not Korean BBQ and this is not American BBQ. Great ambiance, they had a DJ who kept the vibe up the whole night with good music. We made an 8:00 reservation and had to wait 20 minutes, they still seem to be figuring out their service and needs having recently opened. The quality of service was good though, attentive. The food was fantastic, would recommend sharing the entree. We were excited to come here because we're going to Korea soon and wanted to ask for Korean food recs regarding what to try, but were disappoint when we asked if anyone working was Korean and they weren't. We made a 7:30 PM reservation through OpenTable for Saturday night. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy, so we were told to wait at the bar until our table was ready. We checked in periodically with the hostess, but after waiting for over one hour and twenty minutes past our reservation time, we ultimately decided to leave and dine elsewhere. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. I cannot recommend this business based on how our reservation was handled, and we do not plan to return anytime soon. read more

Overall, this place was a "no" for me and my colleague who visited while in town for work. It feels like a nightclub that tries to be a restaurant, or a restaurant that tries to be a nightclub - I cannot decide which. The velvet ropes and loud music outside were indications, and it didn't get better from there. Odd sculptures throughout that create "walls" in some spots, poorly designed lighting (red overhead lights, red backlighting inside the tabletops) made it difficult to see, and the table left hardly any room to actually put your feet - I understand of course that's partially the result of the element for cooking the food but that should have been accounted for in the architectural design process and it wasn't. Our waitress was very kind, the manager was very pleasant. The bartender called out, so our drinks were being made by someone new to the bar and all we ordered were gin and tonic and they came in tiny glasses and took a while to arrive. The food was excellent; the gyoza we ordered pan fried and they arrived steamed. Very edible, so we didn't feel the need to send them back. A second portion arrived fried, so the kitchen either cooked an extra order or we got someone else's to start. The bulgogi beef came with nice side dishes, but the corn and krab salad was lacking flavor. The weird part of the experience was the fact that when they turned the grill on, we weren't certain if we were supposed to do the cooking or they were. Every other Korean steakhouse I've been to, we do the cooking. We observed other tables and discerned it was a them process, not an us process. It gets weirder because the person wearing the chef's hat who had done the cooking at other tables left, and someone in an apron was cooking at our table. No problem - they're learning and finding out what staff can handle. However, because of the poor lighting mentioned above, the young man had to use a bright LED pocket flashlight every minute or so to visually inspect what he was cooking. It wasn't his eyesight - every cook at every table was doing the same. That should tell the restauranteur that they have a flaw in either the product they're offering within the lighting situation, or they need better lighting the accommodate the product they're offering. Additionally, it appeared as though the young man was cutting the steak with regular scissors from an office supply store, and the ones he started with were already dull because he had to rely on a second set. To top that part of the experience off, they neglected to turn on the ventilation, so it was quite smoky. Thankfully the manager realized it before an evacuation or oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling. The flavor of the food was good overall; the bulgogi tasted good, the seaweed salad was decent, the other vegetable offerings were great overall. This place may be trendy for Las Vegas-style offerings, but I'd look elsewhere overall. read more

The inside decor is nice. There is a shared parking lot with other businesses. It fills up pretty quickly. We visited on a Sunday during their soft opening. There was no wait for a table. The wait for the drinks and food was very long. It got to the point where my husband asked to cancel his second alcoholic drink. They offered to comp it, but it still showed up on the bill. It was our server's first day, and it showed. She did not seem familiar with the menu or the dishes being served. I ordered a lemonade from the menu, but was told they only had pink lemonade. It tasted watered down. To make matters worse, the glass it came in had a crack (see picture). The food itself was not bad. It was not worth the long wait and service issues. We visited Galbi during their soft opening this week and had a great experience overall. Since the restaurant is brand new there were a few small opening-week kinks, which is completely expected, but the team handled everything professionally and you can already tell this place is going to be something special. One thing that really stood out was the variety and quality of the appetizers and small plates. The Gangnam Guac was surprisingly one of our favorites -- a really fresh and flavorful twist with tuna, avocado, onion, and citrus that was light but packed with flavor. The tuna avocado mini sushi roll was also excellent and a perfect way to start the meal while the grill heats up. The Korean BBQ itself was fantastic. The tiered feast concept makes it easy to choose the experience you want, and the meats were high quality across the board. The dry-aged steaks and Wagyu options were highlights and cooked beautifully on the table grill. We also tried several other appetizers like the japchae and dumplings, which were both very good and a nice balance before diving into the BBQ. Service was friendly and attentive, and the staff clearly cares about making sure guests enjoy the experience even while they're still working out the details of opening a brand new restaurant. The space itself feels modern and upscale, and it's a great spot for a date night, group dinner, or celebration. For a soft opening, Galbi was very impressive. Worth the wait, if there is one. Visited Galbi with the wife both Tuesday and Thursday night. Seated immediately. Even made reservations in case they were busy. Tuesday we opted to start off with the spicy blue crab salad and Gagnam guac salad. Both were delicious. Then shared a spicy dragon roll and yellowtail roll. Again, delicious. Thursday we decided we wanted to do the Korean BBQ. Started off with the tasty Tiger Tooth, then did pork belly and shrimp for the proteins on the BBQ. Cooked to perfection right in front of us. The kimchi was so good, they brought us more. Not too spicy or mild, just right. On both nights I had the Scarlett Margarita. Spicy, but tasty! So be aware when ordering. The wife had the lychee mocktail one night, the coconut mocktail another. She enjoyed both. Both nights we happened to be served by Taylor. She was very attentive, without being overbearing. She even noticed that we were going thru the kimchi quickly and told us that she would make sure to get more for us. Came just as we finished the first serving. Considering they just opened, and are getting the staff up to speed, overall it was a very pleasant experience. Will definitely be back. Had a reservation booked and set, and had family drive over an hour to come to Galbi because the food really is great. HOWEVER -- we waited over an hour to be seated, then another 30 minutes before a server even came to the table. We didn't end up eating until almost 2 hours after our reservation time. The hosts and servers were all very kind and sympathetic, but the manager on shift never once showed face. As someone who has worked in restaurants before, I thought that was extremely unprofessional. No apology, no communication, just had the front staff handle it all. We were told we'd be "taken care of" for waiting, yet when the bill came there was no compensation at all. We had to question it ourselves, and even then the compensation was MINIMAL. Not to mention we were a large party with a very large bill -- oh we even ended up losing people from our party because of the wait (after standing there for so long) some had to leave due to the late hour and long drive home. I understand Galbi is a popular new spot with good food (I'll admit that), but waiting over an hour for a RESERVED table while management avoids the situation entirely is ridiculous. We had a really great experience at Galbi in Shelton and honestly felt compelled to write this review. First off, the food was incredible, flavorful, well done, and clearly made with care. Just as important, the service was genuinely attentive and kind. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my daughter's shellfish allergy, which immediately made us feel comfortable and welcome. That kind of attention matters, and they nailed it. One thing worth calling out (and doing so kindly): Galbi isn't officially open yet, and they still accommodated us. Because of that, things were a little slow and slightly disorganized at times, but that's completely expected at this stage. Even with that in mind, they did a bang‑up job. The customer service was still warm, professional, and impressive throughout. If this is what the experience looks like before their official opening, this place is going to be something special. If they listed them, people would bring snacks from home and just wave through the window. By the end of the meal, I wasn't full--but my credit card definitely was. Food? Meh. Perfectly average. Which honestly makes it worse because now you're paying luxury prices for something that tastes like it came out of a strip mall with better lighting. Final verdict: Come for the "experience," stay because you're trying to calculate how this bill equals your monthly rent.... The atmosphere was nice but it was to dark you could not see much and the music was way to loud you were not able to hear anything the waiter was saying. When the chef was cooking it in front of us the chicken and the salmon were cooked on the same small stove and they were touching and the chef did not realize at all and proceeded to but the salmon on my plate. The waiter we had was super nice and she kept us up with drinks and foods and told us how to use each dish and what to put on it. This is NOT Korean food here, the sauces, the side dishes, the pepper powder, none of it is Korean except the store bought Kimchee. The meat for the BBQ was all wrong, none of it was prepped or marinated, it was too thick and just salt and pepper that they continuously added as they cooked at your table, most of it was burnt and chewy, including the lobster. Burning Korean BBQ is a big NO-NO. They didn't know how to cook the meat properly. High heat and thick meat don't go together for what this was supposed to be. The stew and Bibimbap were weird, it was like having slices of lime with lemon zest on your burger. Sorry, but it wasn't even close. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely AWFUL from start to finish. First, calling this place Korean BBQ is genuinely insulting. The food lacks authenticity and quality. The only "Korean" element seemed to be the kimchi, which tasted like it came straight out of a store-bought jar. If you're expecting a real Korean BBQ experience, you won't find it here. The atmosphere made things even worse. It feels more like a nightclub than a restaurant...and not in a good way. It's SO dark inside that you can't see the food you're being served without a flashlight. This also raises concerns about cleanliness, since the flashlight I ended up using revealed that our table was not properly cleaned before we were seated. On top of that, they BLAST loud 80s club music, making it difficult to have a conversation or even communicate with the staff. Service was another major issue. Despite having a reservation, we waited about an hour and a half to be seated after being told it would only be 10-20 minutes. Further, the main entrees did not come out to our table until another hour after we were seated. I understand new restaurants can have growing pains, but setting unrealistic expectations made an already frustrating experience much worse. Overall, between the poor food quality, chaotic atmosphere, and long wait times, this was absolutely not worth it. There are plenty of other Korean BBQ spots that deliver a far better experience. However, not expected was the insane amount of noise coming from the music we could not converse at all. Had to yell to be heard across the table. The food was just OK. Considering the astronomical prices I would have expected something a little better. If you are itching to try this new place I would recommend waiting until they have figured it all out, hired more staff, and iron out the kinks. If you can't/don't wait you're likely to be disappointed. 645 reservation, wait out front standing in lobby for 45 minutes before being sat. Sit for another 30 before seeing a waiter. All while the DJ pounds music to a half empty restaurant and you have less light than a campfire making it impossible to have a conversation or even read the menu. Waited at table for so long without even waiter or a hello finally gave up and went to bar. At the bar was told the weren't "officially" open (never mentioned when booking, waiting, or seated, and the bar doesn't have all their supplies or staff, no muddler for drinks for example. Was told by the waitress to lower my expectations cause the kitchen staff also understaffed and that I should anticipate a long wait even after ordering, she wasn't wrong. Finally get a waitress ad order only for half of the apps to never come out, meat (tiny portions ie 1 single lamb chop for entree order) is grilled table side in the dark and smothered in salt. Waitress was pleasant, patient, reassuring, and tried but even excellent service can't overcome the rest of the staff and food. The feast option on menu comes with appetizers, but despite multiple requests and reassurances with extra wait most never made it to the table. While eating someone in charge of the DJ for the evening, or so he explained, decided the music wasn't loud enough for himself and his guests so took it upon himself to turn the volume up repeatedly until I was having to shout across the table for conversation with my dinner party, I kid you not shout like at rock concert or an NHL playoff game. This is in no way what we expected or wanted from a restaurant charging 80-100$ a person for dinner. You can't make a meal last 3+ hours with 1 hour spent waiting for service after making a reservation. You can't cook table side IN THE DARK. You can't pound EDM table side while people try to enjoy the dining experience. You can't charge $100 a head and serve children's portions of meat when you are a Korean steakhouse. I hope they figure it out, but this was a very subpar outing for sure. read more

Nope so idk , it kind of left a bad taste to us . My bf likes his manhattan before dinner so it was a let down . But we didn't want to be rude so he ordered a beer some kind of Japanese I think and I ordered a lychee martini but I wanted grey goose . The price was more and it was ok but the bartender made it so syrupy I couldn't drink it , so I asked for ice to make it less syrup taste We like to sit at the bar and we were told you can still order all the food but just not get the experience of it cooked at your table but it was a small bar and they had this plexi glass thing so you had to reach over to get your drink it was not a bright idea really . Excited to have Korean steakhouse in Shelton. Seated immediately with reservation. Ambience very interesting and cool. Management very friendly. Very noisy hard to have conversation with table of 4. Food was very good. Not really authentic Korean. Sauces not really tasty. My main complaint was portions. For $85 steak should have been 16 oz. Advertised as 10 but looked more like 8. $200 for 2 people should be amazing but just very good. Not likely to return and therefore not likely to recommend. Fix portion sizes and turn down music might change my mind. read more

Save your money! This restaurant is below average at best. On the plus side good ambience and on the negative side the food was overpriced and tasteless. We ordered Shushi rolls that were awful. The Butchers Feast included paper thin fatty beef and lamb and our tableside chef oversalted the meats. If you want a leisurely dining experience, forget it. We were rushed out in less than 90 mins. Again, save your money! That said, the bar looked interesting if you only want to stop in for a drink and not have their underrated food and be rushed. SAVE YOUR MONEY! read more

Stacy was a FANTASTIC bartender/server, she made me three of the best margaritas I've had in my life, plus she made my boyfriend a custom drink based on his preferences. Truly made the experience feel tailored to our liking, arguably the best part of the restaurant due to her quick wit and personality. Not the mention the food was phenomenal, really enjoyed the appetizers, the bao buns were so good we could have gotten three orders. Probably will next time. Next time we'll order multiples of everything it was that good. Theres something for everyone in each section of the menu. The restaurant itself was also very polished, I really enjoyed the atmosphere it felt like it should be in Westport or Greenwich not Shelton. Glad to have a restaurant with this scale of food and service in town, and we'll definitely be back. read more
