Yummy! I've had this place on my list for months as it is a block from my office and so glad I finally took the plunge! The lunch special is the perfect amount of food for the perfect price. I got it with noodles and ate up every bite! My only complaint is some of the chicken needed to be smaller. The dressing on the salad was a tasty combo of citrus with spice at the end. The star though was the egg rolls. I might just go and grab an order of those to snack on one day! Blue Orchid will likely become my go-to quick lunch spot!

I love this place! I usually end up here for the drinks at night, which are AMAZING, but I have been here for the food too. Every meal I have ordered has been delicious. I have never felt disappointed here. They have a large variety of mixed drinks to choose from, so there's something for everyone. Their late night happy hour deals are unbeatable! My favorite drink is the Spikey Blue and it looks pretty! The owners and staff are always super pleasant and they make sure that everyone feels welcomed. If you're in the area looking for a good tasting cocktail this is the place to go! Also, this place is LGBTQ+ friendly and super welcoming to everyone!

Can't get enough of the food here. Everything is so good. Not in the photo is the fried dumpling with hot oil.

First time coming here - found restaurant semi highly rated so decided to give a try. The outdoor seating was nice but food and service was poor. We were one of the only groups (4) in the restaurant, didn't receive any water drinks took forever to come out.. and I ordered a meal of simply chicken and noodles for my kids I specifically asked for no add ins (ie veggies / nuts) upon receiving our food there were peanuts covering the dish. ( my daughter is severely allergic) the waiter gave us a hard time about retuning the dish and almost refused to remake it or take it off of our bill. chef came out finally and remade the dish as requested but after several attempts to send the food back. the waiter never came out to service us again after we sent the dish back until we finally had to get up and request the check. very poor service and food was not good. Would not recommend.

Staff was kind and great! They have a good Happy Hour deal for draft beers which brought me in. Food brought me down. I got the larb, hot oil dumplings, and massamman curry. Dumplings were store bought with some veggie mixture inside. Big disappointment but they are cheap. Larb was served with cut up romaine lettuce that made it very difficult to eat. I'd normally expect cabbage slices with larb, but thought I'd give them a try. Larb was bland until I got to the very last bits at the bottom of the bowl. The curry tasted good. It was creamy and subtly sweet. The peanuts were roasted and crunchy. The onions and carrot slices cooked well. My chicken was bland on its own and had some tough bits in some slices. My potatoes were undercooked and also bland, not pleasant to have those in the dish. I wouldn't come back again or order out from here. A friendly staff and good happy are great and its worth giving them a try for a low stakes bite. They have peppermint mints and the vibe is good.

Lunch Special Green Curry Noodle Soup with 2 vegan spring rolls and orange slices

I normally end my reviews by saying "I recommend this restaurant". The food was so delicious I have to start my review with "I highly recommend this restaurant". The food was so good I almost forgot to take pictures and say grace. I almost regret eating breakfast because I wasn't able to finish off the silky broth from the Green Curry Noodle Soup I ordered. I called my fiancé to tell him the food was excellent and he would love it too. I also ordered the Crab Rangoon which was so yummy it didn't even need the dipping sauce. The crispy golden wonton bag that held the crab filling was seasoned and fried perfectly. I'm looking forward to eating there again. The server was so kind and had great timing. PRO: Everything I ordered was delicious. I made it in time for the lunch special which came with a small yummy salad and 2 vegan spring rolls. CON: Initially I wanted the Chicken Lettuce wraps instead of the crab Rangoon but the chicken lettuce wraps weren't available, specifically the meat part of it. The server did offer to try to give me an alternative but I politely declined. The Crab Rangoon was a great choice as well. Unfortunately, only paid parking until 5pm every where and it's limited.

Will say that the decor of this place was a tad unsettling. The tables and chairs dont exactly match and there is just a lot of open space. However, the food was incredible I had never had a thai curry noodle soup and it was SO good. the walnut shrimp was also a hit. The best part of the food here was that it wasnt too oily like your typical Thai restaurants that are popular in America. Definitely coming back! for those interested they also have late night happy hours friday and saturday starting at 8 pm!

My husband and I were looking for a Thai restaurant downtown New Haven where we've never eaten at before. If you would like to have one of the best green curry noodle soups that I've had in a very long time this is the place to go! Our server "Q" was super attentive and friendly! We also had steamed dumplings and spring rolls which were good. But between service, drinks and that green curry soup.... we left very happy and will certainly visit again!

Several of us arrived early (and we had added a person between the reservation to the dinner time) but the restaurant was able to accommodate us with no issues and we were seated immediately! Plenty of street parking too around that time nearby. The restaurant was not crowded at that time, and overall quiet enough to encourage normal volume conversation. The waitress who served us was extremely great, very accommodating, giving us recs, and doing a great job keeping all our information organized. We ordered drinks, some appetizers, and several rounds of food. The starters came out a bit slow, but soon when all our entrees were out it was a ton of food! We also asked the waitress if she could just choose rolls for us with a given budget, and she did a great job! Everything tasted great. Overall great service and good food! I particularly loved the chicken katsu (huge portion!) and the sashimi. Highly recommend!

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. The decor is a lovely authentic izakaya with the wood paneling and everything. It's a beautiful homage to Japanese culture. Ok now menu. Lunch there is great but recommend going for the dinner menu over anything to have more options! The addictive cabbage is just as it says, addicting. It's acidic, savory and has the perfect crunch to it. The crab Rangoons are sooo good. They give you plenty of sauce and you can tell it's the good crab. The cold sesame noodles are perfect! A little bit of heat, a bunch of flavor. I'm drooling just thinking about it! The chili dumplings were good but a little too spicy for me! We also really enjoyed the kimchi carbonara and personally, I'm a sucker for udon noodles! And now the star of the show for me and something I've ordered three times now! The crab fried rice! The crab is so tender and buttery, like it actually melts in your mouth. And the pork belly chunks in it, also tender and delicious. I like dream of this dish every week! And the great thing is you can order the half size during dinner so you can try other things too! This spot is in my top 5 for 2026 so far! Please go try them asap!

I drove past it the first time, but the exterior is intriguing, with waterfalls and small ponds with koi fish out front that caught my attention on the second pass. The interior is large and classically decorated, the kind of dining room that was built to handle volume without feeling like a cafeteria. I noticed the koi fish out front have a quarter machine nearby that dispenses food, a small detail that tends to land well if you are visiting with kids. The overall setup is comfortable and well maintained, and the space gave the restaurant a presence that most Chinese restaurants in the area do not match. The dim sum is the main draw, and it is served until 3pm, so timing my visit accordingly was important. I ordered the har gow and shumai, both well executed and holding up against what I have found at comparable restaurants in Boston or New York. The chili oil is good and worth using liberally. The shrimp wonton noodle soup was a standout and worth ordering on its own. For those coming outside dim sum hours, the full menu covers a solid range of Cantonese dishes. I also tried the fried rice, salt and pepper squid, and chow fun, all of which performed well. The portions throughout were generous enough that ordering with a group and sharing made the most sense. On quieter days, the food quality is noticeably more consistent, which I experienced during my visit. For good dim sum in Connecticut and a Cantonese dining room that takes the food seriously, Oriental Bar and Grill is worth the effort of finding.
