Extremely disappointed is an understatement. My personal experience could not be further from the glowing reviews posted previously. That is not to say that all the staff are sharp and friendly. They are. I like them. However, in four short months I was charged $20,000.00 for "office work" only to have a substitute attorney show up and be completely unprepared for me case. This happened twice. I did file a complaint. The finding was that it is only considered "simple negligence" and therefore the complaint was closed. It may be simple to them but it has been catastrophic for me. My only regret is that I cannot leave a glowing review for all the money I gave them. read more

If you have to lawyer up, I wouldn't trust anyone but Lauren Pruett and her team regarding a custody matter. A custody matter can take months in court and be very taxing emotionally. Lauren and her team were always there to answer all of my extensive questions over the phone or in person. The team always left me feeling confident and sleeping better at night after every conversation. Lauren is extraordinarily quick-thinking and fast on her feet and has a strong presence in the court room. She took her time to learn every aspect of my custody case. Although she already knew my case history in depth, she spent the entire day prior to my hearing reviewing my file with her team and came to my trial ready to fire and as knowledgeable as I was regarding the specifics of my case down to every last detail. Additionally, I really felt the whole team cared about my case and no matter who I spoke with they were all always caught up on current happenings. I also really connected with my paralegal Nicole, who drafted most of my legal paperwork. Also, I was provided with a billing summary monthly so I always knew where I stood with my retainer. Finally, I do need to mention that although I never did personally meet the billing specialist Brittany we shared some good laughs too. I retained Lauren Patrick's services for my Yuba County divorce and I have mixed emotions for my services with her firm. Right upfront Lauren gave me great legal advise in our initial consultation and explained everything thoroughly and was very honest about what I was up against but that was about the only time I spoke to Lauren. The firm is so big and handles so many cases that Lauren herself has a team of about 5 people (other attorneys and paralegals) that handle various parts of the case. Kevin Roux handles the financial disclosures and that is one of the most lengthy parts and working with him was a struggle. He'd sit on my paperwork for weeks without responding and then when he would respond he'd tell me that we are in a new month or nearing a new month and since he didn't file anything yet he'd need an additional month of all my financial disclosures. This became tedious and also costly because even though it was his delay they'd still bill me for hours. Their billing was complicated and they'd sometimes rehash work from months prior saying they were additional hours that didn't get billed back at that time. Tracing all of their invoices to actual work done is almost a full time job in itself. They would also bill me for regular status meetings in which sometimes the status would just be that their firm still needed to do that item that was still outstanding from the prior month (that's right, I'd have to pay them to remind them that they are overdue on a deliverable) This is the thing...I had a lot to lose in my case and my opponent had nothing to lose and only everything to gain so if you are in a similar boat and need a heavy hitter than I recommend Lauren Patrick because she definitely has the reputation and expertise but if you have a simple case or an opponent who isn't really fighting the process then i recommend finding an attorney that is cheaper and a law firm that isn't so inundated with cases that they have lost the human touch and have to be reminded to work on your case! read more

It's not an exaggeration to say that hiring Lauren Pruett and her team to help with my divorce, custody, and move-away was the best decision and investment I've ever made (in my entire life). My divorce had been dragging on for 15 months by the time I was introduced to Ms. Pruett and had my first consultation. During that period of time I had hired and worked with several attorneys. What I immediately noticed was how extraordinary Ms. Pruett's team is, not just based on my experience but based on even the best attorney stories I'd heard. 5 months later, my children relocating with me out of state has been solidified, all of my concerns have been addressed, and most importantly I have the piece of mind knowing her team has my back. That knowledge has given me relief from what has quite possibly been the single most stressful and difficult experience of my entire life. If you want specifics, here's what comes to mind: 1) They expressed genuine concern for how I was doing as a person during all this. (Other lawyers had literally told me "I'm not your therapist", Mrs. Pruett on the other-hand told me "It's really part of my job."). 2) Every time things looked like they were going to turn out poorly, they convinced me not to give up. Whenever I would stress or worry about something, they'd take the time to address my concerns. 5) Lauren, Richard and Natalya in the courtroom put Perry Mason and Matlock to shame. And I grew up watching a lot of Perry Mason and Matlock. 6) Nicole and Nicholas, their paralegals, are the most Johnny-on-the-spot support staff I've ever worked with. 7) Brittany and Sarah, their office staff, really went way out of their way to deal with my varying and sometimes unpredictable cash flow issues during this process when collecting my payments. Looking at the prospect of being marginalized to a bit player in your own children's lives, after them being your entire world from when they were born, is the single scariest thing any parent can face. I wanted to wait until the whole process was complete so I can give a true review. To start I contacted multiple bankruptcy lawyers through yelp and most were very short and discouraged me more than anything else. I came in for an initial consultation with Scott and he was so caring and understanding that bankruptcy isn't an easy decision. He even made sure I knew what all our options were before making any decisions. Once I retained him the processes was easy and he worked with our busy schedule.
