Such a fabulous spot for some wine! I love the outdoor vibe with all the trees around the tasting room. There is also 5 rental spaces on this property, plus a wedding venue. The people who work here are so nice and the owners are so welcoming. The wine is delicious, I love the rosé and sangiovese. read more

Gale vineyards is a scrappy mom and pop endeavor in a residential neighborhood just off the main drag of Durham. The tasting room, etc. is in a thicket of ancient trees - beware of falling branches! We were served by a tattooed young woman (the daughter?) who appeared to know little about the wine, was more into herself. The wine was mediocre. I'd recommend New Clairvaux Vineyard part of the abbey run by Cistercian monks , in Vina, north of Chico. Their wines are world class. The servers are knowledgeable. Overall much more satisfying. read more

This location is GORGEOUS! Do yourself a favor and go. The trees are enough to get me to go back. We had a large group and the service was amazing! So friendly, fun and professional. Also, the charcuterie board was delicious and beautiful. The wine is good too. read more

I think one star is even to much for this winery. We tried to visit during the Sierra Oro Farm Trail event. One of the people directing traffic told us where to park and we followed their directions. Another employee started yelling at us when we walked up saying we were rude and disrespectful for parking on the neighbors property (we were on the side of the road). I told her that we were told to park there and she told me I was lying. We said fine we would leave and she continued to yell at us. I heard such good things about their wine and I am sad we didn't get to try it read more

First time here! Driving up to the place we were wondering if we were lost but follow the signs! They recently upgraded their facilities and it definitely shows. It's great. Very modern and nice environment with a family feel. It's extremely lush with huge trees. They have fire pits hanging lights. Of course, the wine is EPIC. Great place. Met the owner and he is such a nice guy. Cant wait to return. read more

Talk about a PERFECT wedding venue! This place is so picturesque and was the perfect setting for our wedding last weekend. The Gales are great and really helped navigate our big day. Hillary and Shannon were pros behind the bar. We couldn't have asked for a more magical day. The rental fee is reasonable and include tables and chairs and the gorgeous grounds do not need too much décor. I can't express how wonderful our big day was and their wine is tasty too! This winery offers some of the worst wine I have ever tasted. Every wine tastes the same, likes it's been filtered through an old shoe. I had to dump every single tasting that was poured. I tired two Sauvignon Blancs, a Rose, a Primotivo and a Cab and none of them were worth drinking even beyond the first sips. I couldn't believe the tasting room had people drinking this wine. What were people thinking. I'll give them a second star only for their grounds and nice, simple tasting room, taking care of customers even when it's busy, and large pours. Maybe they're just trying to get rid of the wine. But please, get a new winemaker. read more

Beautiful winery and the people who run it are just lovely. My husband and I were very close to getting married here but it was going to be in early October and as they are an outside-only venue I was worried about the weather. The grounds are just gorgeous, so maybe if we renew our vows. ;) Our favorite wine is the Melange. read more

We attended a wedding at Gale Vineyards recently. I would not recommend this place for anyone planning a wedding. The owner was yelling f-bombs at the children for straying "off the designated pathways". You should not have to deal with people like this on your wedding day. read more

Great winery! We arrived at the location we parked on a dirt path outside of the actual room where the wine tasting was going on. Once there we were given four different wines to taste. The only recommendation would to have each wine be even more unique from one another so we can have an assortment of wine to taste! read more

Last year our daughter and son in law were married here! The property was so beautiful and the evening event was almost perfect! We had the rehearsal the night before! By the time we left my legs were so "bitten up" that I was beside myself. I couldn't stop scratching! What if this happened to the wedding guests? We contacted the coordinator who contacted Steve the owner! We were assured that the property would be "sprayed" for insects by the following night! It didn't happen! Dozens of quests were bitten all over there legs and suffered for 7-10 days after. None of us could find a cream or pill that helped with the symptoms and a few of us now have scars. I called Steve to inform him of the severity of the bites. We were saddened and somewhat embarrassed that this had happened to our family and friends. Steve said he had never heard of this happening. He asked for pictures; which I sent! He said we would talk in a day or two! However he never called me back! Instead he sent me the name of his lawyer! His LAWYER!Yep, the pictures were that bad! He never called to apologize or make amends in any way. And I don't believe for one minute this was the first time it occurred! I think it's egregious that as a business owner he took absolutely no responsibility for what happened! read more

We decided to do some tastings at local wineries around Chico. Gale Vineyards is a must stop. Spectacular setting. I especially enjoyed the Sangiovese and the Barbera. The owners (Steve and Creasia) were both there and were wonderful hosts. We had a great time. Definitely coming back! read more
