Wow! What a gem and wonderful winery to spend time at. Between the excellent choices of wine, diy grazing boards from the in house market, and fun/friendly staff we were blown away. We were able to sit in the beautiful grounds near the pond while listening to live music this evening. Such a special place where we felt like family and got to enjoy such a unique array of treats with our wine. Cannot recommend enough. New ownership is knocking it out of the park!

I had the most amazing birthday party at the LaRocca tasting room. I'm so glad I decided to have my…read moreparty there. Not only is their wine and champagne fantastic (organic-sulphate free!), it's also ideal for the kind of quaint and intimate gathering I was desiring. Everywhere I turned, there was a sweet face to converse and catch-up with. We brought in a great musician to play his saxophone while we all danced around. And my charcuterie spread was of the chain, fantastic. It covered a whole dining table. My favorite was enjoying my apricot and cream filled cake from nearby Upper Crust Bakery. Their server was on point. She kept everyone's champagne glasses full, which was crucial on this hot summer's evening. I wish I could party like this every weekend. It felt like a real Napa-Chico experience. I'd recommend to anyone to have their special event here. Thank you LaRocca, I'll be back! -Prairie

Highly acidic flat wine that had a few varieties in bottle. We choked our way thru the first tasting and apologized to the staff member " it just wasn't our flavor". I paid the full fare and he denied it. I apologized again and left it in his tip jar for two tasting and a glass. This winery has been around since the 80's. The tasting room was a bit cluttered and a nice tasting bar but staff not the wine held our attention. Maybe there's reason why wine has improved since the Dawn of time.

I've always loved the history and culture surrounding the relationship between wine and monasteries…read morearound the world. This one I've been wanting for visit for many years due to its ties to Sierra Nevada Brewing nearby and also the story of the abbey stores from Europe. Mix that with the original owners of the areas, murder, and ghost stories in Hawaii, it makes for a fascinating visit! I'll spare the long history to be enjoyed on your visit. This entire region is fruit orchards and beautiful fields. New Clairvaux sits as part of a vineyard that was much larger long ago. The current vineyard is easy to get to with clearly marked signs and plenty of parking. Inside the barn you'll find the wine shop and gift shops, which you can also do tours and tastings. It's also an event space. The monastery is nearby down a shaded path, but visiting is restricted. The church is also nearby, which incorporates stones from an ancient abbey in Europe that themselves took an amazing and long journey to and up here. The gardens and vines are worth walking through, it's a beautiful area. We all decided to do the basic tasting tour where they share the history and stories while you taste. If you're a wine or history buff, this one is worth visiting.

Visited November 9th..see my receipt…read more First of all the warm and gracious owners allowed me in even though they were setting up for an event! It has a romantic vibe for wedding or special event! This winery is located off Ward Road in Oroville. It's close to town yet you feel you are in the Country! I think they have about 26 acres with a pond and make some delicious wines...including cabs...pinots..and sangiovose. They have a tasting room that is welcoming along with a larger area for events. They also sell some swag. I bought the Cabernet Sauvignon and the owner was so kind he gave me some delicious mandarins they grow on the property ! So juicy! I love the bridge and the cozy feel to the place. Family run! Although they don't have food or a wine club at this moment it is a great place to have a picnic with some exceptional places to enjoy the scenery! It was a Great experience with good wines and family atmosphere ( love the cute dogs!). Husband and wife owners and their family are kind and welcoming! Don't miss out on this place ( check their hours first). Bring a picnic basket and buy some of their wines and relax!

I have to say the 1-star review here is uncalled for. My tasting fee was waived with a purchase of one bottle of wine. Though I would have been happy to pay it. It is only $5, and this a small, local business. The tasting included at least 7 wines. Toby, one of the owners, poured for us. He was very welcoming and knowledgable about the area. I loved the small, local feel. They also sold local almonds, eggs and beef.
