Note: Prices may be inaccurate, as this is from an online menu without a listed date. I was here with one of my usual larger groups at this excellent Spanish, or rather Spain-ish, tapas restaurant, a good while back. The inside was a tad dark, and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, which was to be expected given our large group size and the various other tables they had to attend to. The food, overall, was excellent, with this being the first Spain-ish (last time I'll use this bad joke) spot that reminded me of the Ironbound in Newark. In terms of drinks, they have the usual sangria, wines, sherry, and some standard cocktails, but I went with something that's not commonly found in the city. That was the Tinto de Verano, a refreshing mix of red wine and lemon soda, which I believe was around $12. This is a more local drink from Spain, and I was happy to see it here. They also have the Basque drink Kalimotxo, a mix of red wine and Coca-Cola, for $9. They gave us some bread to begin with, which was munched on and soon used with their delicious sauces. As for the rest of the food, we stuck primarily to tapas, aside from a paella. The first thing that arrived was unfortunately something that I couldn't eat, as I have a cephalopod allergy. This was the delicious-smelling Pulpo a la Gallega for $22, consisting of sliced boiled octopus with paprika, salt, and olive oil. The rest of the people loved it, and from serving it to some people, I could tell it was fork-tender. Outside of the pulpo, we got two other seafood tapas. The $16 Vieras a la Casuela, or scallop casserole with red & green peppers, paprika, and olive oil, was delicious. There were plenty of plump scallops with a mild sweetness accentuated by the olive oil and paprika. The $14 Gambas al Ajillo, or prawns in garlic & white wine, was also excellent. The shrimp were cooked very nicely, and the garlic flavor was as strong as it should be. One of the earlier things to arrive was, ironically, my least favorite. This was the $15 Pimientos de Piquillo Rellenos, or Piquillo peppers stuffed with tuna, egg, olives & vegetables. The dish was cool as expected, and while I liked the sauce, I didn't find the texture appealing. The flavor was a bit light for me as well. Next came an excellent version of Tortilla Española for $13, a Spanish omelette with potatoes & onions. A lot of the other Spanish places mess up the texture, but this was perfectly soft and tender. There were plenty of potatoes in there as well, with the onions only mildly cooked down, which added a little bite. There were also two dishes featuring Serrano ham. One was the tasty $13 Judías Salteadas con Jamón Serrano, or sautéed green beans with said ham. The green beans had a nice texture, and the salty ham added a pleasant bite. The other dish with this ham was the Garbanzos a la Española, which was slightly more expensive but also better. For $16, this consisted of roasted garbanzos sautéed with Serrano ham & chorizo. I was surprised I liked this more, as I usually don't like these beans much, but the mixture was very pleasant with the chorizo adding some nice spice. We also ordered two other dishes with chorizo. First was the excellent Huevos al Antojo for $16 with cottage fries, egg, grilled chorizo, and red peppers. This almost felt like a fancy breakfast option with the thin-cut cottage fries having a nice texture, especially when mixed with the runny fried egg. The chorizo and red peppers added a necessary spice to this dish. Otherwise, there was the simpler Chorizo al Vino, or chorizo in wine sauce, for $14. This was as good as can be expected for such a plain dish, but it was still tasty. Rounding out the tapas was the $9 Patatas Bravas, or spicy potatoes with a cooling white sauce, which was pretty good too. I've had this in plenty of places, and this was decent. I have liked the texture more in some other places, but it was still good and was plenty piquant. Our remaining main dish was the $48 Paella Valencia, which had a mix of seafood and meat. The seafood included one of my allergens, but they removed it, so I was fine eating that dish. Otherwise, I believe the remaining ingredients, aside from the spices and peppers, were mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, chicken, and chorizo. All the seafood inside was cooked nicely, and the rice had a good flavor. This was an excellent paella, and the portion size was quite large, still served in the large vessel it was cooked in. The remaining dish was dessert, the $9 Tarta de Santiago, or Spanish almond cake, served with vanilla ice cream, which might have been an extra charge, but I'm not positive. The cake had a marzipan flavor and was lightly sweet. It was a satisfying end to the meal. We had a very good meal here. No particular favorites, as everything was very tasty overall. read more

Came here for happy hour with a large group. Unfortunately, there were only drink specials and no food specials. The space had nice wood paneling, exposed brick, full bar, and plenty of seating. The atmosphere was lively, cozy, and fun atmosphere. I knew I had to get my absolute favorite: Datiles Rellenos, which are Bacon Wrapped Dates with Goat Cheese. This came with some olive oil and vinegar. They were a little small with slightly burned bacon, but loved the taste of the dates with strong, creamy cheese and crisp bacon. For my entree, I ordered the Broiled Pork Chop, which came covered with tomato sauce and onion. The Pork Chop was charred a bit, which is how I prefer it. The meat was tasty and well seasoned. The tomato sauce was flavorful and savory, working well with the Pork Chop. Service was decent. Our waiter was friendly and welcoming. Surprisingly, prices were a little on the higher side. I would return to try Cod Fish Bites, Lamb Chops or Red Snapper. read more

After a walk through Inwood Hill Park, we wandered in for a late afternoon lunch. There were so many items on the menu that sounded amazing, but we settled on the dátiles rellenos, patatas bravas, and Judeas salteadas con jamón serrano. And, then, we couldn't resist the paella valenciana. Everything was incredible -- it was like being back in Spain with dishes that were clearly made with love. The servers were attentive and even between lunch and dinner services on a Saturday, they had loyal patrons. The ham croquettes were perfectly crisp on the outside and creamy inside -- comforting and delicious. The octopus with paprika was tender and smoky, with just the right balance of spice. The potatoes with paprika made a simple but bold side, and tied in wonderfully with the octopus. The star of the evening was the seafood paella -- beautifully presented, full of fresh seafood, and perfectly cooked rice with that classic saffron aroma. Each bite had layers of flavor that reminded us of authentic coastal Spain. We randomly found this place after walking around in Inwood Park, and it was such a great find. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and there is a full bar area. We sat outside since the weather was nice and we could people watch. Everyone that we interacted with was extremely gracious and accommodating. My friend dropped her fork, and right away, a server came by to replace it without us even having to ask. It was very refreshing to see such amazing customer service. The menu has a variety of classic tapas and seafood options that are great to share. I loved the complimentary bread that was served ahead of our meal. We ordered several dishes, including the pulpo a la Gallega, which was cooked perfectly and had a soft buttery texture. The datiles rellenos were so good, and if you love sausage, definitely try the chorizo a la plancha. My friend got the pargo a la cazuela, and it was just ok. It was too bland and would have been better with additional seasoning. We left this place completely stuffed and satisfied with the great food and service. TLDR: I will no longer gatekeep this establishment 5/5 I've been disappointed by tapas before but my friends who frequent this spot a lot (the staff know them) assured me that I would not be today and my god I wasn't. A tapas gem in Inwood with extensive options. I ordered my typical tapas "go tos" and was pleasantly surprised. First, shout out to the complimentary bread which is hard to come by these days! The grilled octopus, gambas al ajillo (shrimp), patatas bravas (had an actual kick) and ham croquetas were perfect to share, and satiated two hungry gals. The octopus which is accompanied by greens can be a main plate. That along with the croquetas were my favorite. Please skip the bread pudding-- it was sadly not good. Mom and pop style Spanish-Galician food. Really extensive menu, although realistically there are a bunch of dishes that use the same sauce. The food here is great, so tasty, authentic, and generous portions. For the Paella, the rice is so, so tasty. You also get a half lobster, and the burnt rice at the bottom is amazing. We saved this until the last night. Our crib was local and we wanted an easy walk home. I knew it promised to be good, but it was great. The grilled octopus (and I hate myself for eating this) was one of the best ever, plump and tender and enough to share. Garbanzos a la Espanola delicious, and I make at home all the time now. Mejillones Galicia (mussels) and somehow we found a plate of Boccarones, it's not a meal without them. The service was great and they seemed pleased that we loved the food. Lovely cozy ambiance. I came here last night and i really enjoyed this place. First the service is great very friendly and they have a happy hour which you can enjoy anywhere in the restaurant. Someone recommended this place to me and I would definitely go back and recommend it to others. I had a coconut mojito while I waited for my friend. Then when she arrived we ordered the octopus and the cod appetizers both were delicious and I recommend them. The portion was big enough to have ended the meal there if you want. I like to eat so I ordered the paella Valencian. Now it was two of us so we shared everything. We did have leftovers and we both had a glass of red sangria. I want to go back to try other dishes. They also give complimentary bread for the table. We ordered dessert the bread pudding which was really good and soft. We've been walking by this spot in Inwood for a while now and finally made good on our promise to try it out and are glad we did. Happy hour is from 4-7 on and we got in with just minutes to spare on a Thursday night. Indoor seating was ample despite what you may think from the outside. This place was charming and inviting from the full bar to the Harp player!! Something I haven't seen at any restaurant here yet! A full glass of their red sangria and I could have listened to him play till closing. Their HH margarita looks unsuspecting but it's the best one I've had in Inwood so far. While the tapas plates were on the smaller side they're great for sharing with a date and packed full of flavor. It leaves room for ordering another dish! There are a ton of seafood options but to stray for a moment I recommend the ham croquettes! read more

Such a cute restaurant in Dyckman! You really feel like you're transported to another world with the beautiful interior. For apps, would definitely recommend the stuffed mushrooms with crab and for dinner I really enjoyed the beef with fries. Had Gambas Al Ajillo, Tortilla Espanola and Paella Marinera. Gambas Al Ajilo - shrimp tasted horrible. I can tell that this isn't a fresh shrimp. Sauce was ok tho. Tortilla Española - decent. Paella Marinera - though, portion was generous, lobster was not very fresh. Tail meat was minimal. Rice was good tho, with variety of seafoods. Amazing octopus! It was perfectly cooked and a nice, big piece. I'm not sure if that counts as tapas (I think they're supposed to be smaller, as a general rule), but I'm not complaining! The waiter recommended an excellent dry red wine, and it was all very affordable. My partner ordered the salted cod dish (can't remember the name), and he said it was delicious.
