Never physically been here but I order from Uber eats pretty often. My usual order is a mofongo and depending on my mood is what protein I get with it. Ive tried the chicharron, chicken and cheese mofongo. The sauce that comes for the mofongo is absolutely delicious and flavorful, I cant get enough of it. In my opinion its actually what makes the dish. Its some kind of gravy. Each and every mofongo is delicious, you cant go wrong. Highly recommended! read more

This was my favorite place I went to in NYC!!! I loved it! It took me a while to decide what I wanted because everything looked so delicious! I had the oxtails, maduros, beans and rice and it was sooo good! The staff waited patiently while I mulled over my decisions. The restaurant even has a side where they make juice that I unfortunately didn't get to try! I'm a tourist and I don't always get to eat amazing Dominican food but I was so happy I got to taste it. -I was asked by the waitress (blonde older lady with a net on her hair), If I was my younger sister in laws grandmother? -I was given a $14.00 lunch special of 3 pieces of the small tip of the oxtail, when I said, I was sure at least one peace bigger is available, she said "take it or leave it." - She brought two salt packages and threw them at the counter when I asked for salt, prior to haven eaten already 4 tostones. -She brought the change and hovered at our table, when I asked her if she was planning to also mop, she snatched the $6.00 tip on the table asking if it was for her. Unpleasant experience, yet grateful that I did not react, which was apparent with the intention of the server. The prices are unbeatable, I paid $28.00 for a lunch special and two small chicken soup. Solid, low key restaurant in Washington Heights near the entrance of the 157th & Broadway station. The food is prepared and ready to order when you step in. The best deal is the Quarter Roasted Chicken with Rice & Beans, and I often get my chicken with veggies & plantains instead for the same price ($7.99). At times the chicken is dry depending what time of day you order (minus a star for a little inconsistency), but it's usually good when I go. Always a great option for lunch or dinner. This establishment always has so many options to choose from, and everything looks good. You can dine in or order takeout. The sooner you get here the better. The food is always fresh and the staff is friendly I always order half a chicken with yellow rice and red beans. The food portion is good for about 2-3 people. The empanadas are delicious too. I always say I'm going to try something else and I come here but I always stick to what I know. Maybe stewed chicken next time. read more

This place is no-frills, but they recently renovated so it is clean, has comfortable seating and is inviting. More important however, the food is EXCELLENT, cheap and comes in generous portions. They always have the regular Dominican staples but for lunch and dinner offer a large selection of different pasta, seafood and meat dishes. I've been to plenty Tropical Spanish restaurants and this by far is the worse one ever! I ordered a quarter chicken (dark meet, leg and thigh) but they instead bought me a breast and wing that was drier than the dessert. It was so tough, burnt and hard to eat! It was like eating a brick! I also asked for hot sauce and they put one weird tasting hot sauce in the bag. I would 100% not recommend. read more

THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED IN DELIVERY. I ordered a sopa de pollo and rice on the side and requested for that delivery to be made at the front door of my mother's apartment, since I was not around to do it for her. Mind you, my mom is disabled and has difficulty walking and going down steps due to surgery. The delivery man associated directly with this restaurant was RUDE when he called. He was YELLING at me because he got to the apartment building entrance and told me that no one was opening the door. I asked him politely to wait for my mom to open the door at the entrance. By the time my mom got downstairs, he left and I called him to know where my food was. He then told me rudely he left to go and make another delivery. My mom proceeded to go back up to her apartment. Afterwards, he told me that he was going back to my moms building to deliver a second time. My mom was already struggling to go down the first time but she proceeded to go downstairs the second time. By the time my mom went downstairs the second time, he was not there. My mom refused to accept this horrible service and wanted to cancel the order. I didn't blame her. I proceeded to call the restaurant because I ordered delivery directly from them and a woman picked up the phone. I told her the situation and the woman blamed me for not being there on time to receive my delivery, that the guy waited extremely long to deliver to my mom. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. My mom was going downstairs, having a disability, but did not take more than 10 minutes to get to the entrance of the building. My mom wanted the order cancelled and they woman told me that she could cancel the order, without a refund. After not receiving my moms meal, I must pay for a meal not received? ABSOLUTELY NOT. The lack of respect, patience, kindness and understanding for my mothers situation is ridiculous. Regardless if my mom was disabled or not, no customer should have to deal with such nonsense. read more

Great food , I've been there many times. Recently they have hired new staff and they don't listen. They made my order wrong twice and got mad that I kept asking them to change it. Then over charged me out of spite. Simple solution is to just listen to the customer. Other than that, very cozy and great food. read more

Being Dominican myself I have learnt to be cautious of Restautants, bodegas and any business owned by mis compatriotas since they usually practice the same custom like back in DR charging customers "al ojo". I just ordered a plate of chicharrón de cerdo con yuca, the lady weighted the chicharrón and the scale valued it at $5.86 and then added a small portion of yuca. The guy at the register, even though the lady told him how much the chicharrón was valued by the scale, he charged $9.00...was the amount of yuca worth $4.00?? I feel like I paid for everybody's yuca consumed today at that place. When am I going to learn not go give my money to business like this. Love that there are now smoothies, juices, shakes, green juices and more. Definitely something that is needed in the area. Their Spanish pastries are also great: the quipes and empanadas, good price too. I've seen the meal options as well, decent portions. Would recommend giving a try. Oh, and dessert options, great red velvet! Friendly staff too. Only issue is debit card limit is $7 or something like that if you don't have cash. Wrote this in November, 2010 under another Yelp profile: Moved to the neighborhood a few months ago. Walk by this place almost daily and rarely saw many people in there -- an important marker of whether a place is worth trying. Recently on a Saturday mid-day, walked by with friends and saw the place was more "hopping" than usual so decided to try it but I was sceptical. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Impressive array of homestyle food, already prepared and served cafeteria style: meat stews, casava, beans/peas & rice, and simple but fabulous stewed okra & tomatoes (never had okra, or any green veg except green salad in Dominican joints, so that's why I'm not sure exactly what type cuisine this is). Generous servings and VERY inexpensive, even compared with similar restaurants in this neighborhood. We did take-out. There are a few tables, but the ambience is similar to take-out Chinese places -- eat in only if you really have no place else to take your food! This was Latino comfort food at its best. Came in here tonight with my friend and neither of us are familiar with the cuisine so we told the woman working and she helped us so much. She explained what everything was and gave us plantains and croquets to try! So friendly! The food was packed in the container and it was so cheap as well! About $13 for a meal and I got two meats rice and beans! She got the chicken veggies and lentils. Both were amazing! I highly recommend this place! We will be back. read more

First time here today. I have recently passed by it a few times and it looked busy. The exterior is also inviting, with large windows, a buffet setup and a clean updated dining room. I had the rotisserie chicken and the seafood linguine. The chicken was delightful. It was the basic Latin rotisserie chicken you can find up and down Broadway. I have had others that were dry. Here, it was moist, juicy and the spices were on point. The linguine was good. It had a nice sauce, which I could've used more of. The only seafood was shrimp, therefore it really should be called shrimp linguine. There were a few pieces of onion and red and green bell pepper, which I could've used more of. The ratio of Linguine to sauce to shrimp and veggies needs to be adjusted, making sure each serving has a nice amount of each. Overall it was tasty. My bill came to $22.86 which I guess is good for one chicken and an entree. I will go back for sure or have it delivered. read more

If you want Dominican food in Washington Heights, this place is awesome! I stumbled upon this place looking for something close the subway line and it's just right across the street. The food is freshly made and feels just like home made food. They have a wide variety of options like chicken, fish, and even exotic meats like ox tail. The portions are hug so you can get food in a to go container to take home and the price is amazing. They give you a lot of portions. The staff is incredibly sweet and hard working. The red rice is so tasty, and the plantains, chicken and tilapia. This is a great place to stop by and pick up food to take home or also to eat at the restauraunt. The restauraunt is small, family feel, but still very nice. I am so glad I found this place. Whenever I am in Washington Heights I plan to pick up some food to go. I live close by but I didn't come here immediately I went all the way to la Barca on 163 because I was craving their pernil they didn't have any and the women weren't the same that work during the week , these were super rude they ignored me for like 10 mins till I left .. Still craving good Dominican food I decided to check if I could get some pernil here since I've had the food before I know it's good fingers crossed I walk in and the smell it's self made me so happy everything looked good but I was there for the pernil which they had I got a lunch order I also got a slice of lasagna and a order of Maduros all that for 15? Super good ! The lady who took my order was super nice smiling the whole time . I got my order to go but I'm sure if the service is that good for takeout it's excellent for dine in too.
