We came on a Sunday. There wasn't a wait staff per se, and we had to place our order with the bartender at the bar. We ordered the daily special, which was a Juicy Lucy burger. It arrived burned, so the food was a "meh" at best, and not having waitstaff seemed like a chintzy move given how many people were in the restaurant and at the bar. I feel a little bad dinging them for service, because the lone bartender (who deserved a medal for ability to multitask and keep all the balls in the air) was serving the entire restaurant and bar, and it was pretty packed. Went to this restaurant due to the fact it's been in business for nearly 100 years and to its good reviews. To say disappointed would be to good of a word to use. From the funky flavor of the soda to the overcooked fries, the meal was a disaster. I ordered the Hangover burger a Sunday special. This burger (which you can tell was a frozen hockey puck just minutes before) came with very greasy hash browns on it and an egg that was so undercooked I poured it off the burger. I don't mind slightly undercooked but the white was still clear. The fries were overcooked, flavorless, and unsalted. Extremely limited menu. Fast and economical. Always had been told about the pocket french toast here, which is very good. Standard breakfast is very reasonably priced and service is quick; we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. I come here atleast 4 days a week and spend decent money for a smaller town bar . I've never caused any problems , when I'm there I spend a cupple hundreds on pull tabs usually, the pull tab lady (older lady ) was beyond crabby and ovisly hates her job As she would Not serve me pull tabs then refused to serve my girlfriend pull tabs for no reason. Very rude and unprofessional and almost embarrassing as she made a big deal about it . Mind you there is a few other people that work the pole tabs , but if she's there, no point in me going to one of my favorite bars if I can't gamble very unfortunate and she should not be in the Work setting. We ordered take-out for a Friday fish fry. When my son arrived to pick up the food, he was required to push his way through a packed bar, where no one except staff, was wearing masks. The fish was pretty good. The fries were lousy. This treat for us, and an opportunity to support a local business, was a complete disappointment. I'm in the market for a new hole in the wall since moving a few streets down, and was willing to give this place a try, despite the mixed the reviews. First, I came on purpose for taco Tuesday, because tacos. Though it was pushing a bit later in the evening, I wasn't concerned about the timing. When we arrived, it was fairly slow. We saddled up to the bar and waited for the bartender to wander over. And we waited some more. And a bit after that. When he did take our drink order, he confirmed that there were in fact tacos. When he walked back, I asked if we could order and then he said the kitchen was closed. After closing out our tab for drinks, I noticed someone in the corner assembling tacos. By this point I was pretty hungry, and a bit annoyed that he didn't mention tacos were still being served. I ordered them, but thought it was odd they weren't being prepared in the kitchen. While the tacos were good, I think the service and the atmosphere aren't to my taste. read more

The food is more filling -- and affordable -- than it is memorable. The turkey club sandwich, for example, features american cheese slices. The spaghetti and steak combo plate (even sans meatball) is a bargain and is likely to satisfy any appetite. The dining room is dreary -- so eating in the bar is the best option if seating is available. Gallager's is an active local bar with a full menu -- including breakfast. With that in mind, I think it could be an ideal location to grab a low-cost breakfast with a bloody mary. Best for beers. Maybe breakfast. read more

My girlfriend sings karaoke most weekends. She sings here often. Therefore I go often. It's that neighborhood bar people love. I think people in there come every weekend and go nowhere else. It's an older crowd, so please don't go here thinking you're going to find your next significant other. But when you want to have fun, and be low key, this is the place. They have darts, and the BuckHunter game (have I painted the picture yet?). The drinks are stupid cheap = $3 for a gin and tonic. If they have seen you in the place more than once, they'll write your tab down on a check and you can pay before you leave - no credit card or ID needed to hold your tab. Yep, that kinda place. I will preface this by saying I was a regular here 2 years ago before moving out of town and finally returning to the neighborhood. The patrons at the bar are usually older in age, I'm 32 and I was surprised to be the only person with their phone resting on the bar. This is the type of place that even after being gone for two years the bartender still remembered my name and what I like to drink, that is a real win in my book. This is the kind of place that you can easily get into a conversation with one if the regulars and not feel like you are intruding, the kind of place where the owner will sporadically buy a round for the patrons up at the bar yes it is that kind of place. As far as food goes the club sandwich is a must try with its perfectly thick crunchy bacon. 3 stars for the prime rib. Ironically, we were recommended to this place from an unlikely source. We first tried it one night when the Cherokee was overbooked. It's right down the street. They have (according to my husband) great fish and chips. Their prime rib on Saturday nights is actually quite good. Beware if your not a local as you will get an attitude from the servers but its just like walking into a strangers house you will get grilled. This is an old school bar and restaurant. The clientele is mostly over 60. We have been twice for dinner. Both times, my husband had the steak special because it was good and inexpensive. I've had the fish basket, which was basic and yummy. I don't even remember what I had the first time. The service was adequate--they obviously have a lot of regulars and are really busy during dinner. It's right in our neighborhood so it's convenient for us. Yes it's where the local's hang out, so you may not be treated like one right away, however within minutes of being there, the staff makes you feel like you are part of the family. I have been going to Gallaghers for years. It is the neighborhood bar that everyone is familiar with. I credit the ownership for running and keeping the place in business for all these years.... Which can be tough in a competitive market. They have a great breakfast with huge portions for a low cost. Some upgrades over the years shows the attempt to keep up with the times. On the other hand, the main thing that I have to be upset about tis the bar tending service. There are some quality tenders there but there are a few that would rather worry about how cool they look than to take an order from someone. My wife and I have been there multiple times in the past year on not so busy nights only to be passed by at the bar while holding out a $20 waiting to place an order. Last time I checked the sole purpose of a bar is to offer great drinks at a fair price in a timely manner.... If you fail on that than there are many places that can deliver. Good place, family atmosphere and competitive pricing but could use some help in bar tending end of things (mainly the younger tenders). Oh yeah.... Update the bathrooms! read more

Went there for Breakfast. .potatoes were cold..waitress never came back to see if everything was okay. Only time she came by was to drop off the bill and then left. When we went to leave could not find her and the other waitress went to get her. I stood waiting for 5 minutes.
