I don't normally give 1 star, but in my opinion, this place deserves it. Normally when I try a place, and I have an okay but not great experience, I like to give it the benefit of the doubt that it was a once off thing. I used to work in restaurants, and I know sometimes the staff or something can be off that ends up affecting the customer's experience. However, I have been here three times in the past month (you'll find out why in my story), and each time I have been completely unimpressed.
Myself and my parents each purchased one of their Grab One deals to use while my parents were visiting in town from the States. I called up, and made a reservation just to make sure there'd be no problem and everything was set up with our voucher. The person on the phone was very nice, and I made a reservation for 10:00 am on a Saturday; as it says on their website (AND on the voucher) that they open at 10am. I thought, great! This will give us enough time to eat breakfast, and then head out of the city to do some sight seeing in the countryside. We got up, and worked our way up to the restaurant, and arrived at 10:10am (we were running a little late that day). When we arrived, none of the tables were set, there were no wait staff, and a woman was mopping the floor. She asked if she could help us, and we said "yes, we have a reservation at 10:00am." She responded with, "Well, we don't open until 10:30." It was pointed out to her that it states even on their front door that they open at 10:00 am. And she said, "oh yeah, you're right, but we're not open right now." As you can imagine, I was quite perplexed by this answer. I responded again, "We have a reservation at 10am. To which she replied, "well, no one is here, so we can't help you or serve you food." Very irritated, we left, and went to Herb Street instead. However, this ended up costing us more money (as we were expecting we'd already had brunch covered, and pushed us back for a few hours on our time table.
Well, we still had these two vouchers, so after my parents left, we went back two more times to use them up. My husband and I showed up at 11am on a Sunday (we didn't want a repeat of last time). And HALLELUJAH they were open. We ordered our food, and eventually it came out. The service was really slow, despite the fact we were one of three tables in the entire restaurant. I ordered the eggs benedict, and my husband ordered the steak sandwich. His meal was quite good, but my eggs were essentially hard boiled by the time they came out. They weren't runny AT ALL. Again, unimpressed, but at least time we GOT food.
I just used my last voucher today, and I have to say, this broke the camel's back (Although in fairness, I'm learning that maybe I'm too forgiving and should follow the signs the first time). I met a friend for breakfast this morning, arriving at 10:30 am, and was the first person in the door. A few more people came, but again, probably 3 tables total. It took me twenty minutes to get the waitress (who clearly was disinterested in helping ANYONE) to take my drink order (which then took an additional 15 minutes to come out). Then we finally ordered our food. I again got the eggs Benedict, because apparently I don't learn my lesson, and my friend got the vegetarian breakfast. It took FORTY FIVE MINUTES for our food to come out. Twice we asked the waitress when our food was coming out, adding the second time that surely it doesn't take 45 minutes to cook eggs. Her only response each time was, "oh sorry, it'll be out soon" with a fake smile and just walked away. When the food eventually did come out, my eggs were again overcooked, and the ham and "english muffin" were practically cold.
Between these three experiences, I've never had such horrible service in a restaurant. Needless to say I will never be coming here again, and I don't recommend that anyone else wastes their money here either. They clearly do not care about their service or customers, read more
