I like that it's not just VR but there's an area where you can play video games on different systems, a ping pong table, and air hockey. There's also a game that's kind of like pool but you use a golf club.. I don't know what it is called, but it was cool to try. On to the VR. I love how they had a ton of options to choose from and the game itself was clear and actually realistic. We played a game that was like Mario Party where we had to complete mini games against each other. Then, we played a zombie game it had me screaming like zombies really were coming after me! They have snacks like chips and cookies and drinks like soda and a few alcoholic beverages. The only "downside " is that there can only be 4 people playing VR at one time so if you have a large group like we did you won't get to play together. I attended the 2021 KCAI Biennial this weekend and absolutely loved this mixed media exhibition. Featuring 49 current students and faculty; a hodgepodge of the profound to the whimsical. Film to fiber; ceramics to found objects, written word to sculpture. A perfect cacophony to stimulate and delight at as you wander from piece to piece. This exhibit ends 3/5/22, but I have already set up a calendar reminder so I don't miss the annual BFA Exhibit opening in April. With free admission, the Artspace should be on everyone's list of simple Saturday pleasures in Kansas City. Long live the Kansas City Art Institute and thank you to the cultural impact they have cultivated in this great city over the decades.

The curator will pull a sample or two from the artists' selection of works and include the drawer number on the label. You can then don white cotton gloves to gently handle the original works stored in the files in the center of the gallery. One of the most intimate experiences I've had with paintings, drawings, and digital works. If you see something you can't live without, the artists' contact information and sale prices are tastefully presented in each portfolio. Admission itself is free, I think.

I'd like to start this with saying that Bill and Dawn are very nice to work with. That said, our…read morewedding ice luge was such a disappointment and we were so bummed. This was supposed to be a major focal point of our event. We asked for a large martini glass with a spout for an espresso martini bar and we spent a lot of time figuring out where this would go and how it would be seen on the day of. We went back and forth on the design and then one day they called and said that they were going to add our initials in the glass without additional charge. It was the first vendor that actually made us feel like they were truly trying to work with us on our vision and do what's best for the piece. When we got to see it the day of, we built up so much excitement. It was so small, so plain, no initials, really almost no design work to it, flat instead of a rounded martini glass, and the spout was just straight down - almost like it was an afterthought. It did the job but it was absolutely not the focal point. You have to pay in full prior to seeing the work, so that for us was wasted money. We actually removed another design piece of our wedding to do this, so you can imagine how upset and disappointed we were, especially after seeing the other work they've done. It really confused us for how kind and giving they were. We did not expect what we got and, quite frankly, got played.
