This past Friday evening (3/20/2026) was my very first time at Galletto's . I attended a dinner for a good friend of mines birthday. We had a total party of 11 people. The food was fantastic! Everything from the bread, & appetizers to my braised short rib with polenta, the food was absolutely delish! I highly recommend their food. Busboys made sure our water glasses were filled, however, the server assigned to our table, she was not very attentive. She did ask us if we wanted anything to drink and took our orders, however, once our food was served, never saw her again! Didn't come back to see if we were needing refilled drinks ( one person in our party ended up going to the bar to order himself another drink) or if we were needing ANYTHING more. I honestly don't recall her coming back to ask if the food was to our liking. Don't believe I saw her again until it was time to give us the check. Another problem we encountered, for SOME REASON, the overhead fans that were near our table were turned off. All the others that were farther away from our table were on. Ours had been on when we first arrived, so why they were turned off, I've no idea! We tried to get our servers attention to have them turned back on, but that was to no avail. Not certain if she just wasn't paying attention or if she completely ignored us. It was a fairly warm evening and many of us were becoming uncomfortable. We finally got the attention of one of the busboys and he helped accommodate our needing the fans turned back on. I know this was very disappointing to our "birthday girl" as Galletto's is one of her most favorite restaurants in Modesto. I don't recall the name of our server, I hope the management can look at the date and figure out who was assigned to the party of 11 with the 6:45 reservation and not release her from her duties but rather help her to improve her customer service skills. read more

A great date night restaurant! I stupidly booked for a Monday night instead of the night we planned to go (Saturday) and the general manager was so sweet and accommodating. He let us have a table a few minutes later which was great. Drinks -- 10/10. I got the italian margarita and my partner got a beer then saw the espresso martinis and tried those. Amazing. Food 9/10. I loved my food. We split a caesar salad and since I don't like fish my partner had the anchovies. I tried and even though they were good they are not my thing. I tried the honey chicken risotto and 10/10 but the lobster lasagna was a bit overcooked. Well when we got seated by the host, she gave my wife and i our menus, then handed our daughter as i mentioned has down syndrome, who happens to be 33, a little kid menu and crayons. It was our first time to the area the other night. We stayed at a hotel in walking distance to your restaurant. My favorite thing about a long road trip is checking in to a hotel at night and then feeling safe enough to walk to dinner, especially after so long driving in the car. My anniversary dinner at Galletto in Modesto started beautifully, with an ambiance that truly impressed. Initially, the service was amazing, making us feel welcomed and attended to. We started with the fried miso Frito and scallops, both delicious and promising for the meal ahead. For my entree, I chose the surf and turf special, featuring a fillet and scallops accompanied by a unique potato dish, reminiscent of scalloped potatoes, and asparagus. While the scallops were a highlight, the fillet didn't quite meet expectations, falling short of the best I've had. The asparagus was overly charred, which unfortunately detracted from the dish. The potatoes, though visually stunning, couldn't compensate for the other shortcomings. As the evening progressed, the service noticeably declined. After finishing our meal, we were left unattended for over 15 minutes. This lapse was disappointing, especially on a special occasion like our anniversary, and it deterred us from ordering dessert. I order the filet mignon, asked for the leanest piece they had and just simply grilled without oil or butter. For sides I had the charred broccolini (plain without butter/oil) and simply boiled marbled potatoes. All cooked to absolute perfection!! The filet had absolutely no gristle...I just wish it had been a bit more rare in the middle, but I didn't want to send it back because I had already been so picky! And the charred broccolini! Wow!! That has such a great char flavor. The potatoes were creamy and perfect even though all they did was boil them. I ate almost my entire plate (minus a few potato). My friend just got back from Italy and she had never been here before. She ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and said it was so good she would have no problem eating the whole bowl. Us girls cleaned our plates here!! And they brought out a sweet little cup of vanilla bean ice cream for her birthday too! Five stars all around from service to food to ambiance. It was beautiful and it was delicious, however, our service was not up to par. Our server never came back to ask any of us. If we wanted second drinks once she brought our food. She never came back to check on us. I tried two times to get her attention to please turn the fans back on over us as it was so hot out there and she walked right by me without stopping. We started with a manhattan and a glass of pinto Gris and the truffle Mac and cheese which was delicious and came with a very generous portion, then came out our main orders the chicken risotto which was somewhat new for spring, as as well as the lobster pasta, with a glass of Chianti all of which didn't disappoint. Also of note the chicken was so well prepared, presented snd cooked, definitely some high quality ingredients and an experienced chef cooking it. We're both in the industry and have seen the good bad and a lot in between in food service and it's hard to make a restaurant experience as good as this was. My husband and I decided to try a new (to us) restaurant for our 36'th anniversary, and we were SO glad that we did! From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff was attentive and extremely solicitous, even wishing us a happy anniversary as they seated us. The ambiance was very pleasant, and I loved the rustic decor in the spacious dining area. Our waiter, whose name we've unfortunately forgotten (but he's been married 16 years), was always ready to assist us, without being intrusive, a testament to his level of skill as a waitstaff. He even brought us celebratory sparkling cider to sip while we waited for our meal. We ordered from a menu that had "Happy Anniversary " written on it, which made us feel special, even though I'm sure they have those printed out to give to all the couples celebrating their special day-but kudos to management for offering such a personal detail to make the guest's experience so wonderful. Speaking of management, the manager on duty at the time of our visit, went around the room greeting everyone and asking how their dining experience was going. We got our food in a timely manner, although, after tasting it, I would have happily waited even longer for just a bite of that heavenly morsel! I ordered the braised short ribs over Parmesan polenta, with caramelized cippolini onions and an extremely flavorful veal sauce. My hubby ordered the ribeye steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. After I took my first bite, I literally moaned in pleasure as the amazing flavors tickled my tongue. The short ribs were fork tender, the polenta was the perfect texture and the Parmesan flavor was subtle, with a perfect marriage of flavor between it and the veal sauce! Don't even get me started on those amazingly creamy and perfectly caramelized cippolini onions! SO GOOD!!! I can only eat a few bites at a time before becoming extremely full to the point of becoming ill, so I was VERY sad when my traitorous tummy said, "whoa there, time to stop eating!" I did NOT want to stop, it was that good!!! Even though I knew I couldn't eat another bite, I went ahead and ordered dessert, and I'm SO glad that I did! They had such a nice variety from which to choose, and after a bit of back and forth between my tummy and my brain, I settled on the lemon blueberry pie. They brought it to me and is was a visual feast for my eyes. It even had a perfectly tempered oval of chocolate with "Happy Anniversary " airbrushed on it with edible ink. What a wonderful touch! I went ahead and took a small bite (it was just too appealing to pass up!), and smiled happily as the perfect balance between tart and sweet danced upon my tastebuds. (There was more moaning involved.) My husband, who isn't even a fan of custard, took a bite and nodded his head appreciatively and said, "Wow! That's amazing!". This is DEFINITELY our new go to restaurant! We used to go to Tresetti's for all of our special occasions, but Galletto has won the top spot as far as we're concerned! I cannot recommend this place highly enough!! The food is incredible, the service wonderful, and the prices are actually very reasonable considering the quality of food and service. We ordered our drinks and appetizer, received it after 10mins. We ordered our main course but didn't receive it after 20mins or more. I ordered Lobster Fettuccine looks really good but when it was a bit salty for me. My husband ordered their special course with Wagyu and it is really delicious and very tender. They don't have kids menu, so I ordered them Rustica Pizza instead but my son didn't like it he said it was spicy but my husband tried and said it was good. We ordered our dessert the Caramel Apple Cheesecake and I got a complimentary Vanilla Gelato, we liked it but it took a while again for us to receive our order. We enjoyed the sides for the ribeye the best, especially the mushrooms and mashed potatoes. As for the ribeye, I can make better steaks at home, this one was really lacking in flavor. Our party got the fritto misto and the bruschetta to share. The bruschetta was good, the fritto misto was too salty and very fishy to the point where it was off-putting. We had gotten two orders of the fritto misto and had virtually two full plates left over. The sangria was good, the maverick was different, but good, and the coconut guava daiquiri was very refreshing. My husband had a Cabernet from Post and Beam that was a great tasting wine. I had been wanting to visit Galleto's for a long time, however, I kept putting it off because so many people say that it is very expensive and the food is not that great for the price.
