I went here for my birthday and overall, I'd say the experience was okay. The service was good and everyone was nice, which I definitely appreciated. Food-wise, I was expecting a little more Greek flavor and variety, but there weren't many Greek options on the menu. I ordered the lamb chops, and unfortunately they were a little dry. The rice was good, but the vegetables felt like they were missing something when it came to seasoning and flavor. The drinks were also pretty mid--nothing really stood out or wowed me. Overall, everything was decent, but I think I just expected a little more, especially for a birthday dinner. The last time I came I was under whelmed but we keep hearing from people we know that they love this place and whenever we drive by it is busy. So we tried it again. Great service and great ambiance as last time. I had a house salad and a Mediterranean pita pizza. Wife had the combo of their casseroles and lemon chicken soup. She loves that soup and the casseroles were really flavorful and paired well with the delicious fluffy rice and the fresh vegetables. I helped her with the spanakopita which was delicious, that was too much food for her. I really enjoyed my salad and the pizza was outstanding. Went here for lunch a few months ago and was very impressed with the menu and how nice the restaurant was indoors. Decided to bring my adult children for dinner and we were not disappointed! We each had a different cocktail, I had the raspberry lemon drop, and it was good. We all had different entrées, all started off with the Greek salad, which was the perfect size and tasted great. All of the entrées were large portions so we did get to bring some home to enjoy again later. Our waiter was excellent, a young man whose name I did not get, unfortunately / otherwise I would definitely give a shout out to him here! It was a good price point. I have raved about this restaurant before. On a hot day this is the perfect food to have. It's so fresh, tasty and seems like zero guilt to eat it. Stephanie was a great waitress she can make a delicious expresso martini! She went on a break and the other waitress took over. We ordered takeout of our usual items which were fantastic, with one exception, the bruschetta. Instead of the classic way as before, they added melted cheese and maybe other things. Not the same, and not as good. Go back to the old way, please. Its still our go to place. read more

If I were rating based on service, it would be a 10/10. Our server was fantstic! She told us specials, recommended dishes and was consistent, without being overbearing about making sure we were all happy. She even let my husband try the soup since it was our first time there. The flaming cheese was the absolute star of the night! Beautiful demonstration of lighting it on fire and delicious. We all loved it! The rest of the dinner was really good. I wouldn't call it spectacular, but good. The restaurant is lovely and the only thing preventing the full five stars is that two out of three of us didn't love the food. Mine was a bit too greasy and my husband's gyro wasn't as flavorful as he had hoped. We've been to Greece a few times, which doesn't make us an expert by any standard, and we all know food tastes better on vacation, but we were hoping to have more flavor. We will be back! read more

Classy white tablecloth restaurant. We had the saganaki flame cheese for an appetizer. I saw it on the TV show Best Things I Ever Ate. It is a cheese dish they light on flames before serving it to your table. It's a cool service that everyone gets to enjoy. For me, I didn't like the cheese terribly, but my son did. Clam chowder was good. I got the seafood ravioli, which I liked a lot. My son got the gyro plate which he also enjoyed. We shared dessert tiramisu, which was lovely. They have lots of desserts that all look good. I want to go there just for dessert sometime. read more

Our waiter was excellent! We sat in the room to the left of the door. Like food on the other hand. I ordered the chicken pommodoro. The idea of fresh tomatoes, and basil just appeal to me. But what I ended up with was a soupy bowl of broth which drowned the noodles and any semblance of fresh tomatoes and basil. I ended up throwing it away when I got home. Had a wonderful meal there last Sunday. The service by Heidi our server was exceptional. She has a very upbeat, inviting personality and explained additional items we could order to make our meal more interesting such as the vegetable plate with our hummus. Papapavlos is all you can want from a restaurant. I had them on my radar for a while and I was finally able to give them a try. And thankfully, they did not disappoint! My date and I sat at the full-service bar on a quiet evening. I enjoyed the decor and ambiance. The bartender was wonderful and made us really good cocktails. For dinner I had the meat pasta and she had the Mediterranean chicken. Both plates were exceptional and I really appreciate that you can order your entrees in either a half or full serving. I took my 64-year-old Kaiser Permanente bestie to lunch here on September 7, 2024, for her birthday and mentioned to our server, Olivia, that I was glad we got her. However, I find Amanda, a thin gal with light brown shoulder-length hair, consistently rude due to her resting rude face. Olivia replied that we all do and laughed it off. After our meal, I asked if my friend gets a complimentary birthday dessert. Olivia looked at my friend and questioned, 'But, is it really your birthday?' which was insulting and rude. We won't be back and are eager to try another Greek restaurant in town called Papapolloni Mediterranean Bistro on McHenry Avenue instead, which has excellent reviews. read more

My Lady and I went on a Tuesday evening to celebrate her belated b-dizzle. The decor is upscale and warm and the staff is great. Our server was great! She described the fish of the day (salmon) and I knew what I wanted. My Lady had the filet mignon and then we both had the most egggcellent chocolate mousse and a couple of cocktails. It was ready to go, piping hot, plentiful and the crowd loved it. Some of our guests identified the restaurant because of the suberb meal and others inquired and will be come new patrons. Unbelievable portions and such excellent favor. We went with the kabobs(chicken and beef); veg, pasta, salad, rice and pita bread. It was a huge hit and made a lasting impression on our guest. Our most favorite Mediterranean restaurant in California. Great food and atmosphere, they never disappoint us. Salad, fish and chicken dishes are amazing but do try their Saganaki Flaming Cheese appetizer! Not only it is dramatic when lit on fire, but the melting hot cheese and the smell will make your mouth water even before you dig into the hot plate. This dish is more than plenty to share for 2 people (we were pretty full after eating this appetizer) but sharing with 4 people will be perfect. Servers are always friendly and cheerful and do ask for the daily special. 1/2 price wine is a wonderful deal as well. Had a terrible experience this weekend. We were attending a friends anniversary/vow renewal ceremony. The service and food were not at all what I expected. We told wait staff that my Marsala sauce was bitter and my husband's seafood pasta was more like soup than a pasta dish. They replied that must be "that part of the batch" and did not offer to replace either one. Talking with other guests the following day, I heard two similar complaints. We were not offered beverages other than water even though the bride and groom requested beverage and dessert to be offered. This was very disappointing and I won't be going back. I've never had a bad experience there before, but this, at an event that was supposed to be sentimental (and no doubt expensive) is unacceptable on so many levels. Shameful. read more

I'm soooooo disappointed to have to write this and let me preface this review by admitting this is my first visit here so it could've been a one off. Here goes..... Being the Greek girl that I am and feeling under the weather, I wanted some avgolemeno. I could've made it myself, yes but again, I'm under the weather. I walked in and grabbed a takeout menu. No soup on the menu. After a few minutes, the host asked me how he could help me. I asked if they had avgolemeno. He seemed confused and said no. I said do you have any soup at all? He said yes we have a lemon chicken soup. Now I was confused. He then adds that it has rice. OK. I'll take a bowl to go please. And by the way, that's avgolemeno haha. He showed no reaction. OK. I'm sorry to assume you would know that. MY bad. I also ordered a side of pita and an order of tiropita. It was all under $20 which I was very happy about. I only waited about 10 minutes at the empty bar (which also I totally would've had a glass of wine while I was waiting but not a single person bothered to ask). I got home and opened my food.... the soup was decent. Mine is better. The pita was warm and fresh and soft so kudos to that. The tiropita... never in my life have I had anything with filo that wasn't buttered. I was shocked. It was like the thinnest smear of cheese mixture folded up into dry, unbuttered filo dough. Truly disappointed. Maybe they just forgot??? I even had to google the recipe thinking maybe I've just had it different my whole life. Maybe I am wrong. Nope. Everything I saw said butter. You butter EVERY LAYER. I've made them. It's bold, highlighted and underlined in every Greek recipe book. I'm just really sad that this place let me down. I'm new to Modesto and was excited to try this "Greek" place out that several people told me about. My Company ordered our Christmas lunch from here expecting everything to be great since we seen the menu and the pictures and All the good reviews we all agreed upon this place. My Manager ordered in enough time for a pick up order for all of us to be able to eat on time. I went with Her to pick up the food and to our surprise they said they did not receive our order and maybe She called the wrong place. After about 10 minutes he found out that we did place an order and the lady that took it just forgot to prepare our food. The quality of food was not what we expected. The Vegetable Brochette was overcooked and they overcharged for that and the Chicken Brochette didn't have any zucchinis in it. The chicken was dry. I will never come here again. And neither will my co-workers. We were all extremely dissapointed. read more

It was a take-out, but the interior looked nice and seemed like a casual-upscale restaurant. All the mains came with a side option of chicken-lemon soup or Mediterranean salad, veggies (green beans and carrot), pita breads, and pilaf rice. The fish brochette was moist and tender. It was flavourful and squeezing the lemon on top made it even better. This was the best of the three in my opinion. The chicken brochette was a tad dry. I suspect it would have been more moist had we eaten at the restaurant. It was pretty decent though. The gyros meat had nice flavour, however the salt was on the bright side. It was probably salted just right for a pita wrap, but a little bright when you have it on it's own with the sides. The portion size were just right. But it's not an "American portion" --- if you're a big eater, you will probably be left yearning for a little more. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am VERY sad to have had this experience I did today and I haven't been treated like this since I was a kid. Three tables were seated after they took our order and they all received their food before we received ours which were still under the warming light. However, today we watched our food sit under the warming light for 15 mins ( we counted in shock) as the server with spiked hair look at our meals and kept talking to her fellow server.. .We were the ONLY people of color here. I would normally never point this out as this has never been an issue until it was blatantly obvious today as there was no other thing that differentiated us from other patrons. I have been here many times over the years and this has NEVER happened. The dirty plates from the appetizer and pita were left on our table while she cleared the other tables plates and was very concerned with the other patrons but us. Do better. read more

This Mediterranean restaurant is a gem in north Side Modesto. The service as good and attentive. They outdoor seating was pretty well kept and clean. Ordered a glass of red wine to go with my steak and wished the server brought the bottle with the glass to pour it in, I knew it was a previously opened bottle but it's the authenticity that makes the wine at par. The steak was cooked well and the shrimp I was okay, forgot the name of where the shrimps origin but shrimp is shrimp lol to most diners. Surprisingly the vegetables were delicious, and the sauce was savory. In this restaurant you choose salad or soup and a basket of pita bread? Overall it was a nice dining experience. We love coming here! We came in today and had Christian as our waiter. He did an awesome job, and he very polite and respectful. We started off with the espresso martini and a Long Island iced tea, 10/10. For appetizers we got the flaming cheese with pita (so good) 10/10. We also tried the crab cakes today. They were not my favorite, had a bit of a fishy taste. Next we had a Greek salad 10/10 and the lemon chicken soup 10/10 (my favorite). We then got the fresh fish brochette w/ veggies and rice pilaf. This was delicious!! 10/10. I got the chicken Marsala w/ rice pilaf and veggies. The rice pilaf and veggies were very good tasting but I did not like the chicken Marsala sauce. Amanda helped make our birthday dinners a wonderful experience. For my birthday, my husband had flowers & a card waiting for me at the table. The customers in the table next to us were having a good time & got pretty loud. Amanda quietly came beside me & suggested that we could move to a quiet area.
