It was very tasty and a good amount of food. The only thing I would change about my experience would be for the fries to be advertised as a side so that we'd know how much they cost, since the price wasn't listed on the menu. When I grabbed some ketchup packets for my fries, the packets had dirt on them which was a bit weird. Maybe I got the bottom of the batch or something. But over all the quality of the food was great, very tasty, and I'd order it again! The pita was very warm and soft.

It may have been the fact that at my first job out of high school, folks called the truck that swung by the "roach coach." Conversely, it may be my binge watching of food network and their Food Truck Rally that has changed my mind. Either way, I'm very pleased with the fact that I've begun exploring these great little mobile sources of food pleasure. This food truck swung by work recently, and I have to admit I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Middle East cuisine. The young woman taking the order was very patient and explained all the different plates, the variations available, and what came on each. Her top recommendation came for the beef shawarma and I told her I'd take it. One thing that folks have to realize is that these are mobile kitchens with very limited space. In today's age of fast food that seems to be sitting under a food warmer and being prepared long before you order, there is an unrealistic expectation that a food truck will spit your order out in a minute or two. I played on my phone for a while and was delighted when my name was called. The meat was perfectly seasoned and there was no skimping on the portions. The liberal amount of sauce on top added to the tastiness (and most definitely the messiness) of this dish. I'm hoping this food truck comes back soon. Not only for a chance to try some other of their tasty dishes, but also because of the friendliness of the woman at the window, and for how (relatively) quickly my food was served.

In part because Konan's isn't too far from the Tampa airport (around a 10 minute drive), I've often made it my first stop when coming to town. Konan's is a black-owned BBQ restaurant located in a residential neighborhood that's not too far from Raymond James Stadium where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play. Speaking of football, the family that owns and runs the restaurant has produced a few D-I basketball and football players, including a current player who's projected to be a high-round NFL draft pick in the next draft. The last time I was here was a Friday, a little before noon. It hadn't gotten too busy yet so wasn't much of a wait in line. Ordered my favorite meal there, which is the 2-meat (ribs and pulled pork) combo ($17). The combo comes with two sides - I usually get the flavored rice (Rice 'a la Trigg) and the mac and cheese. The meal also includes a slice of bread. Lemonade is $3 extra, bottled water $2. As always, the ribs and pulled pork were excellent. I especially love the yellow sauce (I think a mustard sauce) they use to flavor their meats and rice side dish, which is a unique staple of this restaurant. The mac and cheese is always very tasty as well. Their food is also always well-portioned - I always leave very full! Altogether my meal came out to around $21, which was a very fair price for two meats, two sides, and a lemonade. Konan's does give a small discount if you pay with cash rather than credit. It seems most customers come here for take-out, though there's plenty of seating both inside and outside the restaurant. The staff is always very friendly, though I'm not too big on the fact that they're big Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans (LOL). If you've never been would definitely check it out! Extremely solid southern-style BBQ restaurant - this might be my favorite restaurant in Tampa!

Although Florida has plenty to offer, especially when it comes to Caribbean cuisine, I still find myself missing the variety I grew up with. Lucky Tigre definitely helped cure a little bit of that homesickness. It is a small little place with indoor and outdoor seating. I love the retro vibes. We ordered the beef lumpia, chicken skewers, mochi fried chicken rice plate, pulled chicken adobo, and a calamansi lemonade. Every single item was outstanding. The lumpia was crispy and flavorful, the chicken skewers were perfectly seasoned, and both rice plates were packed with rich, comforting flavors that tasted like they were made with care and attention to detail. The calamansi lemonade was refreshing and the perfect complement to the meal. What stood out most was how balanced and authentic everything tasted. Nothing felt overly complicated or trendy for the sake of being trendy ...it was simply delicious food executed really well. Every bite was flavorful, comforting, and satisfying. For anyone craving Filipino-inspired flavors or looking to try something beyond the usual options, Lucky Tigre is absolutely worth a visit. It's the kind of meal that not only fills your stomach but also brings back memories of home. We'll definitely be back.

The plates were beautifully presented and the food came out fresh. You order at the front before sitting. We started with beef lumpia. They were crispy on the outside and tender filling inside. The lechon kawali was a little on the dry side but the taste was great with the tamarind aioli sauce. The skin was thick and very crispy. The cucumber salad and pickled onions were refreshing and paired very well with the richness of the pork belly. The jasmine rice was topped with crunchy garlic. The lemongrass chicken BBQ skewers was nicely charred and flavored perfectly. The pancit was a little sticky and not as seasoned as we had hoped. Lots of veggies though. The salted ube caramel latte was absolutely amazing! The portion sizes here were good for sharing. The parking was a nice lot nearby. The bathroom was well kept.
