You order at the counter and then they give you a number to take to your chosen table. The decor is pure technicolor 60's/70's Filipino kitsch and it's amazing. The star of the show is the food. We ordered the calamansi lemonade and the Siargao Summer with tapioca pearls, the Five Spice BBQ Liempo and the Mochi-Fried Chicken rice plates, and the spicy vegan dumplings. For those worried about spice levels, everything listed as "spicy" is quite mild overall. The drinks were AMAZING. They would have gotten 5 stars just for those. The Siargao Summer truly tastes like a tropical summer in a cup. Then our food came, and the flavors were all off the charts. The BBQ Liempo had that perfect balance of sweet and savory, and was grilled to perfection. The mochi-fried chicken was crispy and was delicious with the adobo glaze. We found ourselves wishing they could just sell bottles of the tamarind-garlic aioli. The vegan dumplings were also a great take on chili oil wontons. All in all, we're bummed Lucky Tigre doesn't have a West Coast outpost, because the flavors are truly incredible! They have a great menu filled with amazing drinks both tea and coffee options, hot appetizers like bao buns and dumplings, and traditional rice plates and noodles. Lucky Tigre was a local recommendation and I'm so glad we listened. It was walking distance from CoHatch where I was working for the day. It was so busy when we arrived which is a good sign! We waited in line for about 30 minutes but it was worth the wait. A regular recognized we were newbies and recommended the pulled chicken adobo and all their drinks so that's what we ordered. Pretty good Filipino food in Tampa. There are not a lot of Filipino restaurant choices in Tampa and this one didn't disappoint. The menu is pretty simple from starters, baos, and rice plate dishes. They have a good selection of drinks- matcha, Filipino inspired beverage, and expresso drinks. We decided to get three rice plates- longanisalog, Lechon kawali, and mochi fried chicken. The plates came with atchara- pickled vegetables usually papaya, cucumber salad, and garlic fried rice. All were good accompaniment. The Lechon kawali was good- crispy skin and good with accompanying dips- I prefer mang Tomas lechon sauce or vinegar. The mochi fried chicken is flavorful and delicious. Longanisa is a Filipino sausage- it was good. The calamansi juice is really good. Expresso drinks doesn't have a strong flavor. Make sure to make room for dessert- we had the halo halo and we shared it. It was good with the ube ice cream - it needs leche flan to elevate it a little more but it would do. It's owned by this husband and wife team - a proper dynamic duo - and when you're inside, it feels like you're just hanging out in their kitchen. Which I guess technically you kind of are? Came for a weekday lunch and opted for the lemongrass BBQ chicken skewer rice plate. I really enjoyed it. The chicken skewers were lean, and the BBQ glaze was incredibly appetizing. The cucumber salad, however, was extremely refreshing and balanced out the richness of the rice and the hearty sweetness of the chicken beautifully. Big shoutout to the interior decor as well. I would say even without tasting the food, the authentic decoration is a good cue for me to know I can expect a great meal. The walls are decorated with commercial artwork that may look just retro at first, but is actually very authentic and historically meaningful. As a Taiwanese kid, seeing traditional Tiger Balm advertisements and postwar posters from a time when U.S. and Western aid played a major role in East Asia genuinely made my heart sing. The chili-carrot beef dumplings were exceptionally good nestled in a balanced sauce of heat and sweet. The pancit with egg had a lot of veggies mixed in, but needed more seasoning. I had been eager to try Lucky Tigre for quite some time, especially with my Filipino background, and finally got the chance to visit recently. Our family of five ordered a variety of dishes to sample the menu, including pancit, lumpia, chicken skewers, fried chicken (nuggets), lechon (pork), pulled chicken, siopao, and dumplings. The order was placed for pickup at a specific time, but the restaurant was quite busy, so we waited longer than expected. When we got home, we noticed the lechon plate was missing. While we had enough food for everyone, it was disappointing not to try one of the dishes we were most looking forward to, especially on our first visit. I called the restaurant, and the staff were very kind and apologetic. They explained they had run out of lechon and had already processed a refund, though we hadn't been notified. I appreciated their effort to help us reorder through a delivery app, but the option didn't work and would have cost extra. I was also told I'd receive a discount code via email for our next order, but unfortunately, it never came through. Most of the food we did receive was flavorful and well prepared (buns, chicken skewers, and pulled chicken) and I can tell the kitchen puts care into their dishes. We weren't big fans of the lumpia (dry and hallow on one end), the dumplings (flavor was off), and the pancit (noodles were clumped together). Was on the hunt for Halo-Halo and discovered that Lucky Tigre moved locations to West Tampa from SoHo. It's currently located in a super cute food truck with an outdoor seating area complete with picnic tables and a restroom. The ordering experience was super easy and service was pretty quick. I came midday on a Sunday and it seemed to be moderately busy. Everyone there was really enjoying their food and drinks. The smells coming from the kitchen were absolutely amazing and I spotted an open flame grill which I believe is used for the skewers. Drink: My first time trying Halo-Halo and I was not disappointed! There were so many different inclusions and surprises in this shaved ice, milkey sweet drink. The homemade Ube ice cream was delicious and I loved the taste of the coconut milk. The coconut and langka (sweet jackfruit) added a freshness. The kaong (candied palm fruit) had an interesting chew to them and left me wanting more. Things to note are I don't believe my drink included the strawberry and mango fruit jellies. The sweet red beans (which I love!) had some textural differences like some were soft while others were on the firmer side. Totally recommend the Vegan Halo-Halo for an interesting and fun treat.
