It's always great to see a food truck sprout roots! It feels like a sign of success and things done right (way to go!). I'm also a sucker for al fresco dining, so when I heard that Galvan's Eatery had opened next to the Cotati Oliver's Market, I was excited to give 'em a try! The menu is short and simple (tacos, quesadillas, etc.)... Ordering is walk-up... but somehow this doesn't feel like a taqueria. I'm not 100% sure why, but the important thing is it is DELICIOUS! They have a killer taco Tuesday deal and sitting outside under the sun with a few crispy tacos and a cold beer felt very right. The highlight: The Crispy Pancho taco. A really nice quesabirria taco with 2 fat, succulent shrimp added into the mix. It's the perfect surf-and-turf bite. Tacos are served with the traditional radish and seared serrano chili... magic! The service was friendly enough, but just OK. You will have to order twice if you want a drink, as drinks cannot be ordered from the host stand where they take food orders. They also only brought out half of my order, which meant my lunch company spent the second half of their meal eating alone while I waited for mine to get sorted. Not a big deal, but with such a straight-forward menu and a sparse lunch crowd, it felt odd. All in all, I will certainly be back! Nothing like warm beer and cold tacos. First time here, I've heard SO much about the taco truck so I was excited. I don't like writing negative reviews...buuuut we waited 30 minutes for our beers, the bartender literally poured our beers and set them down by the taps and proceeded to start taking another large party's order without handing them to us, pretty odd. So my boyfriend stood there trying to get his attention with no luck. He finally came back to the table and went by up to try again a few minutes later. Somehow managed to get them. To make things worse we had to wait an hour for our tacos. The staff walked by us numerous times, but never checked in with us even after sitting there for an hour. We had to go up to the counter and ask if they hated us or something, only to realize the order was never put in. Well, we're assuming they weren't put in, they never actually gave us an explanation. They just scrambled around and 10-15 minutes later we had our tacos. I'm pretty sure the Swedish Chef is running things in the kitchen. You'd think they'd comp something after all that....nope. Wish I would have tried Galvan's a long time ago when they'd pull up to Parliament Brewing in their trailer. Now that they have their new location in Cotati and it's been a short time since they opened, I figured I'd check em out. Tons of outdoor seating to enjoy good Quesabirria tacos and brews on a beautiful sunny day with a few TV's to keep up with your favorite sports team. Chicken tacos were juicy and the salsa is spicy and had a build up the more you consume it, so beware. Quesabirria tacos are on the smaller side but really flavorful. Variety of good beer on tap, would love to come back as soon as possible since we're seeing warmer days. read more

Galvan's in Cotati is the perfect spot to hang out with your friends, be it in a small or large group, there is a lot of space. Seating is first come first serve, you order at the kiosk by the entrance & are handed a number to take to your seat for your food to be brought out to you, then you order your beer/drinks at the bar. They have a nice variety of local craft beer on tap & they offer a few N/A beers & sodas as well. The food is good, my go-tos are the crispy pancho, the quesabirria & the shrimp grilled cheese. Aside from that the rest of the menu is not my fav, prices are quite high for what's considered Mexican street food. But overall a great place to hang! read more

If you are looking for tacos and sunshine, Galvans is it! Menu is simple, to the point, order food at the bar, and get a local craft beer while you're there (they do offer half pints). What a long wait for food that was mediocre at best. Galvan's Eatery's menu offers tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and specials, but on the evening we came, everything was crossed off the menu except tacos. We thought, ok, that's fine, it's a football night, so guess tacos are the easiest to make and hardest to mess up. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos, and my husband got some regular tacos. The wait for our food was about 30 min, if not longer. Another disappointment was that all you could taste in the tacos was CHEESE and nothing else. On top of that, they only give one small half-filled cup of salsa per order, regardless of how many tacos you get. Overall, the tacos are overpriced, the wait is long, and the taste is unpleasant. I've been a fan of this place even when they were just a food truck! Their tacos and burritos are so tasty. I love that they have crispy fried tacos, which makes them stand out. I'm honestly surprised that the food truck hasn't made the Press Democrat's best of. They have a good selection of local beers on tap as well. Simply put, food is still Mid Af. Decided to try again to see if they had gotten better after getting an established restaurant. Food was quick to come out but they were empty. Quesabirrias, had little to no Queso, 2/10 flavor and taste, crispy to a bone, to the point that it was too crispy. Cut the roof of my mouth hard... Looks like a violation of California SB 478. California SB 478 gives restaurants exactly one way to charge a separate mandatory fee: put it on the menu, clearly, with an explanation. It was not on the menu. That's not a policy disagreement, that's a statute. A sign that I didn't notice doesn't cover you on this. I had the taco with shrimp and the taco with a mix of shrimp and birria. Both were delicious. It came with a roasted jalapeño and some spicy avocado Crema. Both were a little too spicy for me so I didn't use, but the tacos were delicious. In addition it was Taco Tuesday and they were discounted. There was hardly anybody there which was nice. I love the outdoor atmosphere and it's great for a nice day. There's plenty of umbrellas and coverings to provide shade. I guess really the only thing I don't care for is the fact that you have to pay twice. Once for your beverage at the bar, and once at the entry counter where you order and pay. You should be able to get your beverage and order food all at one place. I did ask and they are both the same business. I'm sure they're trying to separate alcohol with food, but a good POS system should be able to solve that when ordering. I will definitely return as the food was very good. read more

I've been a longtime customer of Galvan's, so I was excited to try the new restaurant when it first opened. I initially gave it some grace, assuming the rough experience was just due to it being new and still getting things dialed in. However, after returning, it still doesn't seem to be where it should be. The ordering process requires you to walk up each time, which makes it feel more like a food truck experience than a full restaurant. There are also small touches missing--like chips and salsa--that you'd typically expect. I also tried to offer some constructive feedback to the owner, but it didn't feel very well received. On top of that, the guy who comes around to pick up glasses wasn't very friendly, which took away from the overall experience. I really want to see this place succeed given my history with Galvan's, but there are definitely some areas that could use improvement. read more

They also need to figure out how to operate a bar properly, it feels like you're at the beach or something with the lines. Just train and hire servers guys! After waiting over 50 minutes for our food we inquired about our food only to find out that they no longer had carnitas for our burritos. They never made an attempt to let us know they were out. It's almost as if they don't want to break it to the customers that they might take awhile. Seems feelings are always being prioritized over facts these days. After waiting 20+ minutes in line, and being told they stopped taking order for another 20+minutes, and advised us to go to the bar to get a beer while they catch up... wait what? yeah grown adults who drink are going to play fair? naw? so if we left to the bar to get a drink would our line spot be there when we got back? cmon. How bout no. So after watching many more patrons come in during this limbo time we were watching them looking lost with no instruction or idea how it works... as when you walk up, the checkout line literaly crosses the incoming traffics, so we all have to help them find the end of the line, but also we get to be the frontlines to let them know the situation. So hey, welcome to the new galvans they told us to wait in line now for 30 min and then stop taking orders so we been here for almost an hour, the line back there or go to the bar and make them more money while you wait for the line to go away. lmao. We saw all the tables were packed and while looking for one, we say all of cars jr order numbers still out in the dining area, mind you was cold AF outside and only like 3-4 heaters in the dining area, there was a guy by the door assembling heater (I say heater because he never finished one while we were there in line for an hour) By the time we were allowed to order everything was off the menu but tacos. So lets get this clear again, waiting for almost an hour staring at a menu of tons of items offered told it would be "a little bit" to later be told almost hour later that we only serving tacos. So the kitchen can keep up? Yeah FWAK naw. we bailed. The tacos are almost $5 ea and obviously a money grab. Go to the bar where alcohol markup is crazy. taco markup is crazy. Final verdict. The venue is not ready The staff is not ready The processes are not ready The technology is not ready Extremely poor experience. I'll try them again in a few months after they figure it out. I visited this location for the first time last week, and as soon as I walk in a DOG urinates on top of a TABLE and the staff do nothing about it -- show zero urgency to get the canine out and to clean up after the urine. I have supported Galvan's for years, but this restaurant is not a place I would recommend or advocate for. They are facing several issues: lack of seating, understaffed, extremely long wait times for food, and poor customer service. I ordered three tacos and a super burrito, it took nearly an hour and half to get my food. Half way into my wait, I watched the cashier yell out that orders are halted until further notice and walk away, by the time I left 45 minutes later the same people were still waiting in line to place an order for food. I spoke with the manager/owner of the restaurant about the situation and they brushed me off with a nonchalant attitude and condescending response. Will not be going back. read more

I have been following Galvan's for about two years now. Since they have gained a following and opened their new restaurant, the quality has been lacking. As well as they have raised their prices off the hook. In comparison to other taco spots around Cotati/Rohnert Park, their prices for what you get in comparison does not compare anymore. It is sad to see because I used to seek out Galvan's just to get their tacos. Now I will just hit El Rancho or Los Gallos for about the same thing a little cheaper. I understand inflation has been high lately, but it seems other restaurants have found a way to keep their prices reasonable and quality high. Hope to see some improvement in my ex favorite taco spot. read more
