Great burrito that stood up literally on its own which is a sign of a solid hearty burrito! It had a good size to it for sure which ai appreciate, I liked their salsa too. I think this place is definitely good but not amazing or anything out of the ordinary. They do not have chips at the food truck for some reason. Solid 4/5 for taste & service but I cannot rate ambiance since it was a togo food truck. So we took them with us!

First time trying the brick-and-mortar restaurant, and it'll definitely not be the last. We ordered at the counter, picked up some chips and salsa, found a table and the food arrived pretty. Everything was tasty, fresh and plentiful, especially for the prices. They MexiDog is better at the trucks, IMHO, but overall, a GREAT addition to the El Roy's legacy!

Listen... if you like good Mexican food, this is your sign to go check out El Roy's. I've been coming here now for about 2 years and it just doesn't get old. When that day comes and I have to move away from Sonoma County, I might need counseling/therapy. It's like breaking up with the perfect woman. I gotta preface this by saying I'm from Richmond, CA and grew up eating a lot of traditional Mexican food, El Roy's does not disappoint and now they have an indoor restaurant and they service alcohol?! Everyone there is friendly and I've met Roy personally in the past, great guy. I've had the Mexi-Dogs, the Gordita, the burritos, the tacos but my favorite??? THE TACOS DORADOS. Make sure you ask for shrimp sauce on the chicken one *Chef's Kiss*. I've probably eaten here more times than I'd like to admit and I've been to a few other great Mexican restaurants in the Sonoma county area but this one takes first place in my humble opinion. Check it out for yourself

I love this place! I used to drive all the way to Petaluma, so I'm so happy they're now located in Santa Rosa. Their al pastor is amazing and I usually get the al pastor burrito and a fish taco, and they never disappoint. Highly recommend dining at the restaurant rather than the food truck, since you get chips with your meal and access to the salsa bar. The restaurant is clean with an open, modern design, and the customer service is excellent. Everyone was friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. Will definitely be coming back!

Chips! Don't mind if I do! Hahaha

If there isn't a line, park, and speed walk right in there before the crowd of who knows this is a great place get in line! It is a small place but it offers a chill clean dine in area with fast and friendly service! There is a drive thru window but I personally suggest going inside to take advantage of their free all you can eat warm, perfectly salted tortilla chips (there's a charge for the drive thru orders! No bueno) and salsa bar with different salsas with different heat levels and taste! SO GOOD! A place with a selection of really good salsas is always a plus for me because you can enhance a taco or burrito to your own like! The orange and 2 green salsas hit! I wanted to take some home hahaha I really enjoyed the shrimp taco which had a flavorful creama sauce and the fish taco which had fresh pico de gallo on it! The chorizo taco was not great since for me it lacked flavor and tasted dry. Even if I didn't enjoy one of the tacos I ordered, I'll be coming back to try the other meats and a burrito when I can knock out right after hahaha *If there is no parking, you can park across the street where overflow parking can head to.

1st and definitely not the last time trying the restaurant. Every time I scarf down El Roy's, I'm never disappointed. Clean and friendly service and they even have a salsa bar.

We tried El Roy's Express Mex on south Santa Rosa Ave in SR. We had the meat taco special and a "wet" carnitas super burrito (new) and some Negra Modelo beer. They have a nice salsa bar with their (free) chips. The burrito came out on a nice large, hot plate and they offered cold mugs for our beer upon request. Daisy made our stay great and advised they are really busy at night. Their drive thru is open until midnight. Great food and wonderful people. Come give it a try.

Always amazing yummy food, and prices are so great! I love the drive thru option, be prepared to wait a bit, but once you park they are pretty fast bringing it out to car. Haven't been inside yet. But I been going to their food trucks forever.

We already the El roys taco trucks so we had to stop in for lunch at the new location. They have some items like nachos and tj dogs that are not available at their taco trucks. The restaurant was well decorated and staff very very friendly. The food came out fast and found a new favorite salsa. Next time we're here we plan on ordering in the drive thru but the dine in service was very quick. The nachos are a new favorite

Tried the El Roy's drive-through for the first time and was really excited. I decided to switch it up from my usual and got the Mexi Dog, while my friend ordered the quesadilla. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed. The bacon on my Mexi Dog wasn't fully cooked, and the quesadilla was overly greasy. I'll be sticking to my local El Roy's food truck and my go-to order after this. Still think the drive-through concept is fun, though!

I loved El Roy's Food Truck when it was located up the street not far from the new restaurant location. I had a taste for chicken tacos, so I decided to pull into the drive thru. After waiting behind the car in front of me for 15mins I decided to go park and go inside. I'm glad I did, it was lots of movement. There was access to the salsa bar with a several different salsas, tortilla chips, avocado, pickled jalapeños and carrots. Most tables were taken by customers who looked really glad to be here. Between the music, food, people and ambience this place definitely was trending. I guess everyone had been eagerly waiting for this place to open. After talking with owner, he explained they wanted to try a soft opening before a grand opening and he was glad I came. I wish El Roy's Express Mex restaurant in Santa Rosa a huge welcoming and much success now and in the future.

They said that any dish you leave the meat out of is vegetarian, and they also have the McDougal section and vegan sections on the menu. We were given complimentary chips and salsa. The salsas were quite good and flavorful: one mild and two spicy. We ordered the chilaquiles omelet and the heuvos divorciado. After the tasty salsas, we were surprised at how bland the meals were. The rice was very good, and the beans were good, but the omelet, the guacamole, the eggs, red and green sauces were all incredibly bland. I'm guessing most of the rave reviews are not for vegetarian dishes? The outdoor seating is only a few tables out front, but it was still a nice option on a beautiful day and there was plenty of shade.

So we finally did it. We planned our entire day around a meal. No spontaneity. Just commitment, a full tank of gas, and moderately managed expectations. The verdict? The food is genuinely tasty, the service is warm and friendly, and the outdoor seating is generous enough that you don't feel like you're eating on top of strangers. All good things. Now, about the bathroom situation. To reach it, you must walk through the kitchen. Yes, the kitchen. The actual working kitchen, where people are actively cooking your food. It feels a little like being a contestant on a show you didn't audition for -- part awkward intruder, part curious food tourist. On the upside, you get a front-row peek at how everything is made, which is either charming or anxiety-inducing depending on how much you like to know about your food before it arrives. We chose charming. Was it worth the drive? Yeah, it was.

What an exceptional discovery for authentic Mexican cuisine. This unassuming roadside restaurant,…read moreoffering dining exclusively outdoors, delivers the kind of culinary experience that reminds you why some of the best food is often found in the most unexpected places. The dining concept is refreshingly casual yet incredibly efficient. Guests place their order at the counter before making their way to the outdoor picnic seating area tucked behind the restaurant. The staff then delivers the food directly to the table, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complements the rustic roadside setting. The menu itself is intentionally concise, which immediately signals a kitchen focused more on execution and quality than excess. It also appeared to feature a rotating seasonal selection, and with the beginning of summer came a fresh seasonal menu showcasing vibrant and authentic flavors of summer. We decided on the beef tacos, and they were truly outstanding. I wish I could remember what type of beef they were. The plate arrived simply presented with three street-style tacos accompanied by fresh lime wedges and crisp radish slices. While minimal in appearance, the flavors were anything but simple. The corn tortillas were among the best I have experienced, lightly crisped, with a delicate texture and subtle depth of flavor that elevated the entire dish. The beef was exceptionally tender, moist, and perfectly seasoned without overpowering the natural richness of the meat. Finished with diced white onions, fresh cilantro, and a vibrant green salsa, every component felt thoughtfully balanced. With a squeeze of lime over the top, the first bite delivered that rare and memorable reaction every food enthusiast hopes for, an immediate "wow" moment. What makes this restaurant particularly impressive is its authenticity and restraint. Rather than trying to do everything, it focuses on doing a select number of dishes extraordinarily well. That dedication to quality is clearly reflected in the numerous accolades displayed throughout the property, including multiple years of Michelin recognition. Who would expect that one of the most memorable Mexican dining experiences in the region would be found at a humble roadside establishment in Sonoma? For anyone visiting the area, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit destination. I look forward to returning soon to further explore the menu and experience more of what this remarkable culinary gem has to offer.
